Can't wait,what a beautiful start of December.

I'm flying in my son,all the way from Croatia for this game only,he was beside me at BMO field for 9 long years, since he was 7 years old,he was with us last night too,on laptop watching it until 4am.

Money I put aside for trip to Denver will go for this, wife is not to happy, but unfortunately I can't help her this time :)

To keep tradition going I say we score 5 goals on them, just like we did vs NYCFC and Limpact.

I thought Morris was all hype but the kid is good, Torres and Marshall in the back are formidable, but that ain't why I worry.....I am worried about that little Uruguayan magician Lodeiro, we have to be very careful with this guy. He has single handedly turned the whole season around for Seattle, I've watched a few Seattle games and this guy is legit. Just a class player who can control the whole game if allowed to do so. What a pickup for them when they got this guy.

From wikipedia:

In addition to making the field compatible for CFL games, the upgrades, which were originally budgeted for $115–120 million, added a new upper deck on the east side, raising capacity from 21,566 seats to 30,000 for soccer, with 26,500 seats in CFL configuration, and is temporarily expandable with additional endzone seating to 40,000 for big events such as the rugby sevens (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_sevens) at the 2015 Pan-Am games, an NHL outdoor game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_outdoor_game), Grey Cup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_Cup), MLS Cup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_Cup), possible 2028 Summer Olympics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2028_Summer_Olympics) or later or a successful 2026 FIFA World Cup (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup) by Canada.

My understanding is MLS takes a block of seats (apparently west side lower bowl) for themselves - so the delay is figuring out how to reallocate tickets to those SSH who will be affected.

Ergo, all SSH will have first crack at tickets, just a few will have to move around. Which is no different from other major sporting events (ie when the Jays made the WS the entire 100 level in LF turned into a media press box etc)

Also the tickets made available to Seattle supporters were $94-99 CAD, so I'm holding out hope the prices are similar to the first three matches.

Found this on the Sounders site. They are doing a lottery for away tickets but says extremely limited numbers. Hopefully that means SSH will get crack at our seats first for Toronto sales.

From the sounders site above.....if they had a home game......STH would get a special window to buy tix

Of course, there is one other possibility...If Montreal holds onto their first-leg lead and wins the Eastern Conference, they will travel to CenturyLink Field as the Sounders had a better regular-season record. Current season-ticket holders will have access to a special presale before the tickets are opened up to the public. That presale opens on Wednesday, November 30 shortly after the completion of the Eastern Conference finals, and closes on Friday, December 2 at 10 a.m.

I heard a few weeks ago that away support gets 500 tickets reserved for the MLS final, regardless of venue.

Captain
12-01-2016, 11:30 AM
So away support gets 500 seats. That's not a big deal. Montreal had the same number so that won't impact us. I'm worried about the 2000 tickets that have to be delivered to the head office. Will these be random seats throughout BMO that have not been sold to SSH's or will them select a section of 2000 seats that are together? This would require them to move out SSH from that section. I understand that this has to happen but please don't let it be my section. I want to experience the MLS Cup with the same people I've sat with all year.

Your MLS Cup Pre-sale Is TomorrowToronto FC will be hosting MLS Cup and we couldn’t be more excited! We will play the Seattle Sounders on December 10th at BMO Field.

Please note that this is a League event and therefore will operate differently than our other Playoff matches this season. What this means, is that we cannot guarantee your Season Seat Location but you will get an opportunity to purchase the same amount of seats you have in your account before we go on sale to the public.

The 2016 MLS Referee of the Year and Assistant Referee of the Year (http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/11/04/alan-kelly-frank-anderson-win-2016-mls-referee-awards) were both named to the 2016 MLS Cup Final officiating crew on Tuesday by the Professional Referees Organization.
Alan Kelly, who earned his second straight Referee of the Year honors earlier this month, will be in the center for the Dec. 10 match between the Seattle Sounders and the winners of the Eastern Conference Championship (http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2016-11-30-toronto-fc-vs-montreal-impact/preview) between the Montreal Impact and Toronto FC.
Frank Anderson, the Assistant Referee of the Year, will be Kelly's first assistant. Second assistant referee Joe Fletcher, fourth official Allen Chapman and alternate AR Danny Thornberry round out the crew.

Please no. Drake was bought into the Raptors fold to make that brand cool, to get people to come and want to come. I don't want this guy coming to TFC cause then it'll bring a crowd of people coming just for the spectacle, to see a celeb.

So just been emailing back and forth with the lovely Richelle - apparently I did get an email at 1:34 - don't know what happened but I never got it (and yes, I have checked my junk email folder) , my time slot is at 10am tomorrow which is the first time slot. We get a code emailed to us tomorrow morning before our timeslot (which hopefully I'll get this time) and will be able to buy however many tickets that we currently have in our acct manager through ticketmaster.
If ticketmaster works the way it usually does though it's not going to be easy to get our actual seasons seats even if they're available - you can usually do just by price or "best available" . Looks like everyone but the supporters section is having to go through this.

Its a bit annoying but still...CUP game in TO!!!

unfortunately yes. I think most people want their own seasons seat i just don't think the ticketmaster system allows you to specify exact section/row/seat - its usually just by price or by "best available" - maybe they've made changes though. I think most of us will end up being disappointed if we don't get our exact season seats - it just wont be the same without the friends we've made over the last 10 years. My appointments at 10 am tomorrow (been a SSH since day 1) and my friend who's been a SSH for 6 years has a 4pm appt. Unfortunately I don't think that's possible to guarantee. Non-STHs were sent emails today telling them to buy season tickets ASAP, so they can get in on the presale as well - that's probably going to add a bunch of people to the presale queue.

Tell the MLS people they can all share one box suite, haha.

So I got my code 10 mins before my time slot but as I suspected the website only allowed me to pick by price and side of the stadium or best available - I tried going back in a number of times to see if I could get anything in 107 at least close to my seasons seats but seats kept getting worse and nothing ever did come up in 107 ...eventually ended up in 108 row 15 which is the same price point as my SS and close to same vantage point. Tickets were $130 each which is just $10 more than Wednesdays game. Excited for the game but super disappointing not to be with our posse. There's got to be a better way of dealing with this.

Unfortunately I don't think that's possible to guarantee. Non-STHs were sent emails today telling them to buy season tickets ASAP, so they can get in on the presale as well - that's probably going to add a bunch of people to the presale queue.

Tell the MLS people they can all share one box suite, haha.Or put the MLS people in the Temp stand...problem solved. Bunch of suits in the worst seats with no roof, probably wasn't an option...lol

I would definitely complain loudly to your MLSE Rep and anyone you can get ahold of at MLS.

Unlikely it will actually do anything, but MLS/MLSE should cancel those tickets.

Or does stubhub have any feature where you can flag tickets/users for removal?
Just keep spamming/flagging them.

So, to discuss the actual game, in my opinion, Vanney has a huge task of refocusing the team. Luckily there is time. Beating Montreal was everything. Your biggest rival, who embarrassed you previously, that was it. No matter what happens now, the season is remember as a success by most (including myself). How do you overcome that? The team has been thinking about Montreal for 3 weeks. They were hungry. So hungry. Redemption was all they wanted. How do you get that hunger against Seattle? Too many times, teams going to a final for the first time as a group are too happy to be there, and the moment passes them by.

They can't handle a slow start.

There is no second leg.

I think we stack up well against them. Their biggest weapon is Morris who usually is on the right (he has no left foot). Might keep Morrow back a bit but if Johnson is on that side, I suspect they will have a time of it getting him the ball. Bradley and Cooper can keep Loderio busy in the middle. Their CB's are big but not the fastest or most technical.

I just wanted to say, Cooper has really grown on me. He let himself get riled up some of the first games here, but he's really settled down. He receives & dishes out plenty during the game, but stays cool, keeps going and shows lots of skill. Including not going down when Evan Bush tackled him in the box, which the Canadian hockey guys should love I guess. :D

I loved the way he scored his first goal for TFC, but sprinted straight back to the middle, all business, boys let's go & score some more. And the coolness he displayed in front of goal, taking a half second to pick his spot & not rushing things.

Hearing about how supporters aren't getting tickets in their sections, I'm worried that the people who get those seats won't have a clue of how to support and won't want to, disrupting the supporters usual intensity. I can see them getting irate that they can't see with all the people standing in front of them and starting a ruckus. I foresee security getting involved. This may turn out badly. What are the contingencies BMO security has in place to prevent this?

Well in this point at least I think we're doing OK. The whole south end was able to pick up their own "seats" via Account Manager, so were not displaced. A few seats may be scalped, but that probably happens every game to a lesser extent & is no big deal.

The music coming out of the speakers in the roof above the west stand has been a problem all year. Vanney was asked today about the role people are playing who are not in the staring 11 and he pretty much indicated in the playoffs you can't really rotate beyond about 13-14 guys.

That having been said, I'm pretty sure I saw Morgan bouncing up and down with other players Wed night. And there was talk last week of the non starters bringing it hard during practice before Wednesday vis-a-vis playing like the Impact would play. All reports I've heard are the players all want to be there but are doing what they can with the roles they are getting. The example of success through hard work right now has to be Hagglund but Bloom has become the go to right back sub through a lot of hard work too.

First off, I would like to nominate "South Parkdale" as the official Weather Network location for BMO Field weather reports. ;) We usually use Toronto Islands, but South Parkdale should be closer. Yeah I know there's no weather station in South Parkdale, they interpolate from other locations, but anyway.

Also, we're now in the 7-day forecast range, so marginally more accurate than rolling a dice to predict the weather. For Sat. the 10th they are saying high of 0 (feeling like -4), low of -2 the following night, and reduced chance of precipitation, now only 30%. So better chance of no snow for the game, although there might be a couple of cm on Friday. And yes this forecast will likely change 4 more time between now & then.

It's great that the team has included these guys on the bench even though they aren't in the 18. As a side note, look at our depth! We have guys like Cheyrou, Rickets, and Johnson coming off the bench! Guys like Delgado (injury), Hamilton, Chapman, Endoh and Babouli aren't even in the 18! These were the guys that carried the team during the summer months, so it's good to know the team recognizes their contributions.

This isn't just the Cup final. It's the first time the Cup final will be broadcast on an English-lang OTA network in the US in Saturday primetime. And TFC is in it. This could be the most viewed MLS game in league history. And TFC is in it.

I for one am happy Seattle has that many fans cause if roles were reversed I'd be pissed if tfc only got 500 tickets.
Also having good away support only adds to the value of the game and atmosphere.

Yes, confirmed by Larson. Technically more than the required minimum.

We got people here clamoring for tickets to see the home side triumph, and they give that much to those snotbag fans? That's unheard of! Fuck that!

To be fair, this is a cup final, they deserve a nice chunk of tickets.
Besides, I always love the atmosphere at games when visitors are well supported.
It raises the energy level in all of us. A bit of healthy competition amongst fans.

The away fans don't bother me at all, 1500 Seattle fans will be great. It's the corporate 5k seats, the ticket re-sellers and their bots or whatever the hell they use to acquire hundreds of tickets that pisses me off. The atmosphere of 1500 away fans wont make up for the 5-7k+ tickets to people who dont give a shit about either team.

The Italian connection at Montreal seemed to have Seba dialed in. It won't be the same at Seattle - I predict that it will the Giovinco and Altidore show and that they will run riot. Jordan Morris is being touted as the new youth sensation that Altidore was 10years ago. Opportunity for Altidore to show he is still the boss. 3-0 TFC.

Torres is probably even better than Marshall right now. It's a pretty damn good back line they have. Have only given up multiple goals in a game once or twice since Schmetzer took over.

Rumours are circulating that Alonso might not be fit enough to start. I'd prefer for Seattle to play their best lineup so we get the best product, but that would be a major plus for us if he's not ready to go. He's been very good down the stretch and they don't have a proper back up for him.

Interesting debate here.

I feel like Johnson would definitely help Bradley with the Lodeiro problem.

On the flip side, Osorio with Cooper may help overwhelm Alonso and other CM, possibly giving Giovinco and Altidore help to face up the CB's one on one.

Will be interesting to see the decision.

This is just my gut feeling, but we are probably going to start with Osorio for offence, then if needed (either protect a lead, or hold on to tie) Johnson will come in around 60-70 minutes.

I'm torn on this.

My gut thinks this is the route we go with as well, however, this is an MLS Cup final. Jonson has the experience to handle this type of pressure game and do his job.
Oso is still young - I think there is a risk he cracks under the pressure of being a starter. He hasn't really shown that he can handle this situation.

So I say reverse - start Johnson and then bring in Oso earlier if needed - like 50 - 60th. We don't have time to dick around with something that isn't work. Change it earlier if needed.

I tend to agree with you on this. As much as I would like Oso to start I think Johnson's experience could be huge. And even though the whole teal played like crap the first 60 mins in Montreal I got the feeling that Oso in particular looked like he was overawed by the occasion.

The only reason I might start Oso is that Bradley didn't have his best game against Montreal game 2 (can someone name that game please? The Montreal Manita?) and maybe his role is better defined as a clear anchor CM in the 3-5-2 with Oso.

molenshtain

I say start Johnson. We have enough talent in our starting 11 to create chances without Osorio on the pitch. It's far more important that we stifle Lodeiro, Friberg, Ivanschitz and Roldan in the middle of the park. We absolutely cannot give them time on the ball to spray passes into the channels for Morris and Valdez. That's what the game is going to come down to. If we can stop them from getting into a rhythm in midfield we win, if we fail to do so we lose.

For me - I'd start Johnson for sure that's the safest bet. I'd expect a much cagier affair than anything that we have seen in this play-offs with much fewer chances at either end. This is a bit like the first Montreal game - because of the conditions, you can pretty much throw out form etc. A lot of mistakes will be made because of the cold.

Seattle, because of their west coast and Latin American flavour, have a massive number of key guys that are going to have never seen anything like the weather we will see Saturday night.

Torres is Panamanian.
Lodeiro is Uruguayan, maybe he played in a cold game or two in Argentina, but that league is shut down in their winter, and Argentina ain't Canada until you get to parts of it that no one lives in.
Fernandez and Alonso are also from warm latin climates, they have played a few years in MLS, but playing only in Seattle, have they ever played in even one game like this?
Roldan is a kid from California.
Morris is a kid from Seattle who went to school in California.

Even our kids (Hagglund, Zavaleta) grew up in the northern US.

The more I think about the weather, the bigger my smile gets. Our USMNT guys have played in multiple huge games that were deliberately scheduled for the cold, and the one guy in Seattle who has that experience, Dempsey, is out.

Gio may struggle, given the technical nature of his game, and of course Cooper is new to this (have to keep on eye on that, may have to sit him early), but our overall emphasis on Americans and Canadians may well have just paid us a huge, unexpected dividend.

Think I may wander over to one of the websites and place a not so small wager on this one.

Hilarious because you're both wrong. Probabilities quoted above included the vig so you have to normalize it to a vig free line.

So -175 / + 125 odds spread is 59% for TFC , 41% for Sea.

And please save me from some diatribe about bookies trying to balance the money on both sides ..... this is such an illiquid betting market that where they set the line is based mostly on how they project the game not how to balance the money.

Kind of torn on the Oso issue. I thought he was starting to come into a decent bit of form but that 1st game in Montreal set me back. He was like a little kid playing against grown men. Everybody's allowed a bad day at the office and maybe that was his. We were lucky in that 1st leg as we had a 2nd to give us a life line. We don't have that luxury here, this is a one off game.I'm leaning more towards starting Johnson at this stage. He gives us that extra aggression in the mid which will be needed esp early on in a final. Not writing Oso off because if he doesn't start, he will defo come on at some stage in this game. I also think Johnson offers a bit more attacking wise than people are giving him credit for. Gonna be a close call but I think that experience he has, Johnson gets the nod. I noticed off the ball in the 2nd leg V Montreal, one of the first things Donadel did was basically shove Oso to the ground. I'm not sure he pulls that stunt on Johnson. They hit Oso hard in 1st leg, you can be rest assured Seattle will have seen that and noted that as way to stop him.

Why would Seba not be able to go 120?

I'm the last person to buy into conspiracies, believe me, but tbh looking back on it all, I'm a little skeptical that he was "injured".....follow me for a minute.....

Considering that the was basically neutralised by the Impact over the 2 legs, is it too much to suggest that Vanney played a bit of gamesmanship in the extra time?
Have (an otherwise ineffective) Seba go down with an "injury" at the most critical juncture of the game, and totally eff up Montreal's defensive strategy in the Extra Time.
Then just trust your veterans with some big game experience to get it done (Bradley, Jozy, Cheyrou, and Ricketts to an extent)
Because realistically, in a game of that magnitude, you could never just sub Seba, but he was having 0 space out there.....something to think about....

anyways, your 5 PK takers are pretty much what I would have except put Seba in for Morrow and have him kick 3rd.....

Trust MLS.com to screw up my order. Ordered the adidas coaches jackets a week ago and it has arrived today. Sure enough I open it up to see nothing but the f*cking Vancouver Whitecaps logo! Typical MLS

tfc can't allow any one on one's with Irwin, that usually results in a goal
if we stop those situations he is an alright goalie

Chey-rou, you are so rad,
You took our sad thoughts, and made them better.
Remember, you'll always be in our hearts,
You took that high cross, and made a header.
Header, header, Header, HEAder, HEADer, HEADER, WAHHHHHHH!
Nah Nah Nah Na-na-na-nah, Na-na-na-nah, Cheyrou! <Repeat this line ad nauseum>
That's GOLD JERRY, GOLD

This is great!
Might need to sing this anyway, whether in or not, as a thank you (possibly pre-game when we warms up? I know it would be hard but would be fun)

btw, if Cheyrou comes into the game this weekend,
we should sing Hey Jude (Cheyrou) for him.

My original suggestion was meant to imply we just do the:
na na na, na na na naaa, na na na naaa, Cheyrou!

Like we did for Edu.

Easy to do.
The extra words just overcomplicate things.

Maybe because it is MLS Cup time they took your jacket to give to someone else more important to them and put you in a lottery to try to get another jacket that was close to what you wanted but not exactly. They figure hey at least you got a jacket. Sounds like MLS.

I don't know where to put this, so I guess I'll put it here.

1) If is TFC wins the cup, after everyone celebrates in stadium, where will the party head? Any streets in particular?

2) I want to suggest something. In the 1st year, last game, we stormed the pitch at the whistle. Great memories. I know it is common in Europe when u win the league, the supporter storm the pitch. Italy, England Sweden etc... Here's the one from Sweden this year:

Any thoughts?

I say we bring kegs down to the pitch and throw a party there.
They would be cool with that, right?

That is a bang on explanation of the MLS! Now they want me to pay for the shipping back and they're just going to refund me my money and I will not be getting my order! What a joke

If TFC win, and the players use the drums to lead the slow clap, I think it would be better for them to do it from the centre circle and include the whole stadium

We'll all be on the pitch at that point. They can do it from the press box to get a better vantage point.

Storming the pitch would be beyond stupid. In year 1, then TFC business manager Paul B. (who was on our message board and knew it was possibly coming) told security to look the other way and let it happen. Those were more innocent times. No way they allow it now. You will get arrested, and a ban from TFC matches. If you noticed, after TFC won against Montreal security formed a cordon around the pitch.

I do not think this game will be as easy as the odds makers think it will be. Nor do I think TFC thinks that it will be easy.

Less malice then vs. Montreal and less history but its a big occasion. But Seattle is very good and was able to beat the Rapids in Colorado. I am assuming nothing but that this team will do what it has all season - fight for each other and the badge. :scarf:

Im actually going to agree with you, and your tone, which must mean hell froze over hahaha.

in season 1 it was a bouncy plastic pitch and we couldnt possibly damage it any more than the Genesis concert. It also wasn't the MLS cup final which meant that at the end of the game, everybody other than the fans and the stadium workers got the fuck out of the stadium. After this game they'll be doing promotional and media stuff for quite some time.

We might not be using the pitch again til next year, but we cant have a thousand fans in random footwear running on it. they did a fine job after the grey cup, but come on!!!

you guys still kill me though. love ya

I agree, it's why I wondered about the strategy re penalties.

This isn't a mediocre team that got lucky. Seattle were 12-3-4 down the stretch, by far the dominant team of the second half. Lodeiro has been every bit the equal of Gio.

The weather is our edge, given the composition of the the two teams. But it's not a big edge.

I expect TFC to win, but I expect a tense game.

2-0 3-0...Ive never seen a team and supporters so hungry!!

Arguably our best player has been silent so..far!

If he wakes up...this could be over early!

To those talking about an invasion and where is the party afterwards and how to do the slow clap....

Can we PLEASE focus on winning the game before we plan the after party?

Geez....

Ok, you go in goal and I'll handle Lodeiro.
