Did anybody else notice on the scoreboard tonight it said that renewal information will be sent out next week? I was wondering when that was going to come out. I wonder if they will try to combine the playoff tickets with the renewal in some way now that we clinched. I am sure they are assuming we will see a home game this year barring any spectacular collapse.

My SS ticket didn't go up in price. 221

Added $28 for the 2 CCL games (which I took of course)

I am surprised.

Any update on light grey pricing ? Section 220 for a long time renewal - last year was $17 per.

Renewal Pricing for me is as follows:
Southstands - $600 for a pair (including the CCL matches) - I'm a SSH from 2011 season. Playoffs were $90 for the pair for the first game and $100 for the second.

One thing I want to know and maybe you guys can answer this, it specifically says Eastern Conference Quarter and Semi Finals. Quarter final games are the knock out stage, and semis is after. If there is no knock out game (knock on wood) then does that switch to Eastern Conference Semi and Finals? Or will we get a credit towards the purchase of the Eastern Conference Finals match?

Sadly, I wasn't so lucky. I'm over in 110 and my regular season seats went up by about 10% and then the champs league tickets were placed on top of that.

I bought my playoff tickets last year (for the game Montreal ended up hosting), and they applied that credit to my 2016 season tickets. I could also have gotten a refund if I wanted. I'm sure that would be the same.

Just saw the invoice for my 220 seats --- it says $720 --- is that for the 21 games? --- am I now paying $18 per x20 games (21st game is free) = $720 for the pair --- not complaining, just trying to understand the math.

I don't see an option to not take the CCL seats so am I to assume that's the 21 game price?

Playoffs came up as a separate $250 - is that similar to other folks? (No price breakdown either on those ones)

Two seats in section 111, season seat holder since Nov 07:

Playoffs: $270
Season Seats (including CCL):$760

Considering how massive my increase was last season (47%) I'm ok with these prices. I'm just surprised to see a discrepancy between light grey prices - is this new?

Found my own answer --- it's $18 each up from $17 each --- better than last years $5 jump!

If people complain about a $5 jump they have completely lost their minds. The light grey jump last year was a big one, but in reality we knew the rollback to first year pricing was not going to last forever. My last invoice pre-rollback was $798 for two light grey tickets.

Is anyone getting the additional 10% reduction on playoff tickets after renewal? It was showing $190 for my south-end pair before I renewed and hasn't changed.

magmadragon
09-19-2016, 11:43 AM
My seat in 111 is now $361 with $19 for Champions League.

It seems the light greys continue to become divorced from the yellows since someone posted $475 for a pair in the south ($237.50). They used to be very close to each other up until last season.

I've had mine for years and had the legacy pricing like the rest of you. So for three seasons it was $228. Last year it went up 42% to $323. Smaller jump this year but it still is irritating. The 1 free Champions League ticket does help though.

I guess because of all sorts of pricing schemes used the past few seasons, there isn't a price chart listed on the renewal website. One of the renewal prizes is a crappy tire giftcard. Have we ever had crappy tire as a sponsor for anything? Maybe this is a prelude to them as a kit sponsor next year?

Anyone have an idea of how the discount on playoff tickets works? Since they are already in my account for $65 and $70, if I buy them after paying for my season seat, will that invoice go down or will I be refunded after the fact?

Ticket renewal will be automatic going forward but this isn't much different than now. If you were going to cancel for the following season you would still do so. Based on the terms we will get season seat info in mid August each year.

One more thing: You can transfer your seat to immediate family for free but beyond that it is $100 fee. I know someone was asking about this a while ago. There is a form you fill out. This is how I originally acquired my seat.

sloangraham
09-19-2016, 12:16 PM
I called and apparently the "extra" discount on playoff tickets if you renew by Sept 23 is already reflected in the invoiced prices (so, you can also get the same price without renewing I suppose).

magmadragon
09-19-2016, 12:29 PM
Which doesn't make much sense. Sept 30 is the deadline for whatever your price is. Account manager has a due date of Sept 30. but this whole 10% business is until Sept 23. So you would think the price shown is X - 10% if done before Sept 23.

Section 127, 4 seats, went from $323/seat to $380/seat (including CCL). A tidy 17.6% increase. I guess that's what we get now that the Kings have moved out. They were $228 a couple years ago.

I've got a pair of medium grey in 105. Cost went from $570/seat to $646/seat (without CCL) or $680/seat with CCL. That's an increase of $9/game over the past two years ($25/game last year, $30/game this year, $34/game next year).

I wish people would stop with that narrative. "Lost their minds" come on, tone it down. You're not in light grey anyway. 42% or 47% price increase is a big jump no matter how you slice & dice it. After they increased prices too quickly at first, screwed up on & off the field, then went back to Season 1 prices, they promised us future price increases would be gradual & reasonable. 42% to 47% increase for this season was neither. And the increasing price gap between light grey & yellow causes problems for lots of people. Families get squeezed out of light grey, and people try to get into yellow seats (or hold onto them longer than they would otherwise) just because of the price, and not because they want to be active supporters.

All i know is that my pair in south end went up ~ 8.7% (without the 2 CCL) still 19 games - 17 league and 2 Voyageurs Canadian Championship as this year. $190 for the pair for playoffs seems steep. Think I paid less for MLS Cup when it was here.

I find the prices to be a bit of an insult. Perhaps I'm still bitter about last year's ridiculous increase to light grey tix.
playoffs seem a bit steep. you stick with a club for 10 years, they finally are in line to host a playoff game, and your season seat price is roughly 67.50.
I'm not going to turn them down of course. Just seems a bit high.

My season seats in the south this year were 342 each/684 for pair.

Next year season seats will be 361 each/722 for pair.
CCL tickets are 19 each/38 pair.

This year's playoff prices for me are 45 each /90 pair for first game. Second playoff game is 50 each / 100 pair. So 190 total was my invoice. This includes the 10% discount. The fine print says after September 23 the price in your account will increase for those same playoff tickets.

Hope this helps anyone.

You now have to join a supporters group and get on their wait list in order to get into the south directly. Contact one of them. The cost is 360 to 400 for new SSH.

Or buy season tickets elsewhere and try to relocate in future relocation sessions.

Just renewed next year and bought playoffs....

A question I have about the renewals though.....

We are kinda forced to take part in the "Toronto FC Membership", which in the description includes "an automatic renewal clause which, subject to compliance with membership terms and conditions, ensures continuous membership..."
Is there a way to go back in the Account Manager and select to renew automatically or not?
Because it doesn't seem like there's a way to not have future renewals occur automatically when going through the renewal process for next year and you're forced to check the box in order to proceed with the renewal.

if you don't want to renew this time next year.
you need to fill out a form and submit it prior to Sept 15, 2017.

which is tough...as we might be in the playoff hunt.

I guess we'll know pricing before Sept 15, 2017.

Considering the Grey Cup pricing, I'd be surprised if it wasn't more. It's $200 a pop for the temp seating behind the southend where you'll lose sight of the ball everytime it's kicked or thrown.

An MLS final would be a much hotter ticket than the Grey Cup in Toronto.

thanks for the fast input, rep actually emailed me this morning before i open this message board and said the same thing basically 100% renew rate in that section

Now if I join a supporters group, what would be the process to get on the wait list and buy a pair of seasons? Who's name would the season tickets be under in terms of name, bills, free gifts etc?? Would I have to renew season by season through the same process ? Thanks

Pick a group that sits in or near a section you want. Contact them. Google if you have to. Convince them why you should be a member and how you will influence the group and atmosphere in a positive way (which I hope you would want to and not sitting there just for cheaper prices).
The tickets would be under your name. They are your tickets. And for following years u will renew with the club. It's a good process and keeps like minded people in the south end to increase support.

I see.....can you still access the link if you already renewed or copy/paste the info here please

Yes you can still access it (on the renewal site not your account manager). Go to the "package" tab and click on the grey membership terms button. It's too much to copy and paste here.

From BMO field website:

For all BMO Field ticketed events including Toronto FC matches, fans who have celebrated their second birthday are required to have a ticket to gain entry to the stadium. Children under 2 years of age (under 24 months) may sit on the lap of an accompanying adult; however, they cannot obstruct the view of those around them and cannot occupy a nearby seat.

Also if a child needs to be nursed:

Nursing mothers who require a quiet location in which to nurse should come visit one of the Fan Services locations near Gate 1, Gate 3 and outside section 207 to be taken to a more private location.

so... what's the general take on the Membership signup?

Do we know if there's an added cost? Or is this just a basic way for the tickets to auto-renew and avoid going though the annual process? I would imagine it's better for the club to have everyone locked into a long term deal, and price increases might slip by unnoticed.

anyone done some digging into this?

From talking to some of the FO folk, this will roll into a 12 month payment plan in the future, viewed as monthly membership dues. So based on my $600 invoice I would have a $50 monthly payment. Now the renewal timeline is what sticks out to me, being September 15th and how you go about canceling your so called memberships. Some people I am sure will get tripped up by it and end up with the upcoming season even if they intended to cancel.

Maybe I am missing something but I thought the Ontario government put in some consumer protection laws in places that made it that people have to opt in to something and not opt out. Not exactly sure how this might come into play here.

Agreeing to the terms of membership while renewing this year is you opting in. They are covered for that.

Just spoke with my ticket rep regarding the auto renewal.
She said that if I want to opt out of the auto renewal option, I can fill out that form (available online) and that it will remove me from the automatic renewal list. What happens instead is next year, about a month before renewals, I'll get a call or email telling me that renewals are coming up, and I need to act. (Basically the same thing that happens now).
basically, the opt out form takes you out of the auto renewal list and allows you to choose each year.

If you ever read the whitecaps fan forum, this is how their season tickets work, everyone is on a 12-month plan. You have to opt out by Aug 15th each year if you don't want to renew (ie. your Sept15,Oct14,Nov15,etc payments go toward next year), if you opt out after that date you forfeit the $. It seems to be like negative option billing.

Supporters section for the caps is $41/mo (or $492 per seat per year)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong or confirm, next season with the two new teams we are getting two more home games 17 to 19? When you renew for next season two home Concacaf Champions League games are included in your season ticket price, therefore the total amount of home games including all games will be 21? I'm a bit confused by the 9 payments plan.

It's supposed to add up to $500 total (including CCL)
It even says $500 at the bottom of the list.

But the payments add up to $475 (which is the price without CCL)

Edit...
I tried phoning a sales rep to clear it up.
While I was on hold I started the renewal process over again.
When I did, the payment numbers had changed from what they were just a minute earlier.
Now they add up correctly.
Their system seems a little sketchy.

Also, I never talked to a rep... 9 minutes on hold is long enough.

So I renewed my seasons today and got in before the Playoff Discount Deadline, but still have some questions. I'm assuming the playoff tickets are for all games up to the Eastern Conference Finals, yes? So would I be able pass on the first rounds but be able to buy for the ECF and (touch wood), MLS Cup Final?

Or now that I think of it, would I be better off buying tickets for all available games and sell the ones I can't make here on the ticket trader? The problem is that I work week nights and Sundays, so I can't make a good chunk of those matches, but you bet your ass I'll call in sick for the ECF while the MLS Cup Final is on a free Saturday.

EDIT: My bad. The tickets do include Eastern Conference Finals.

Being a blue Jays flex member, the only section that might come close to the atmosphere at bmo is the flight deck. The atmosphere is right up my alley. Love the passion, the enthusiasm. Love going to the game with buddies and meeting all the different people in that section who are friendly, fired up and have knowledge. Already bought at least four pairs of tickets from member from the ticket trader section. I figured I acquired about those sections. Emailed a rep and said I'd have no chance in getting into that section. Thanks for the input and advice but I guess my best bet is to just purchased from the ticket trader section unless someone can help me out. Thanks guys

There've been ample opportunities to get tickets in 112, 113, 114, etc. in past years. I doubt this year would be any different. They are not available until you read about it from one of the SGs. But if you aren't a member, then you won't have a chance - whichever group it be.

but what about the guy who happens to lose his job late next August, and when TFC renewals and "opting out" aren't the first thing on his mind gets dinged with the renewal....I hope there will not be even 1 person who is in this situation, but its certainly possible.....

There should've been the option to auto renew or not for future years.....not forcing us to do it with this "Membership", most of which "benefits" we already get renewing year to year as we've always been doing.

I don't get worked much by most of what FO does - in fact, I think the new management has done a great job in doing things that are more "fan friendly" - but this move just rubs me the wrong way and is something I'd expect from the Anselmi/Beirne days.....

I was not a fan of having the mandatory membership which you must agree to when renewing online. The work around... I called them.

I said here's my account number, i want to renew and buy playoffs, are you ready for my credit card info? Gave it, then asked them to email me the invoice/receipt. And that was that. There was no verbal read out or acceptance of any clauses, auto-opt in's, memberships, etc. They record the calls, so they can listen to it.

^agreed. I'm sure somewhere in the terms and conditions which they will claim can be modified at any time without notice there will be some type of indication that I have implicitly accepted the membership, however, they cannot come to me and say that I explicitly accepted it, or was verbally informed before making the renewal. What I would need is to have the T&C before I accepted, and if they've modified since.

There is more to this than just having people ready to auto-renew. They are trying to minimize the turnover, minimize the issues surrounding turnover, and maximize cash in hand. Getting people to shit or get off the pot is something that drives sales crazy and this addresses it perfectly. If you are going to renew then they want you to give them your money early so that if you want out you can't have it back and it gives them more time to re-sell the ticket at potentially a higher value (if it was a "day 1"er that can now be sold for much more). That's win, win and yes win for ML$E. You can't argue that ML$E is very good at maximizing the crap out of situations money wise. Every time a customer finds a loop hole or anything where ML$E has to give in they re-work things and come up with new strategies to lock in their profit. This is a perfect example of minimizing the issues and maximizing the time they get your money.

The questions about the benefits packages is to gauge which combinations of things the SSH prefer.

Instead of having everyone rate 10-15 items 1 though 15, MLSE has made hypothetical lists and using the choices of everyone they can infer which pieces of benefits packages the majority want.

Essentially, MLSE is trying to simplify there fan analytics (plus, probably trying to figure out is they can get rid of the annual scarves, or have to plan SSH events over the off-season, or create a discount on BMO food similar to Merch currently).

My choices were pretty much scarf and additional ticket discounts and maybe food, or SSH events, and additional ticket discounts.

I do happen to like both the scarf AND the SSH events...the Euro final this past summer was awesome and always liked the summer BBQs as a day out with the kids. I find it hard to believe eliminating a scarf will cover the food and booze at SSH events.

Just a quick question. My appointment time isn't until Wednesday 1pm. I have to book some time off work to be able to accommodate that time. Do you guys think there will be any seats left by then? I'm currently in section 209 row 13. I'm hoping to move closer to the pitch (like row 1 to 10) but stay close to the price point of 725 per seat. Just curious if I should bother taking time off work to do this or will there not be much available. Thanks

Hey guys. Just thought i would report that i was able to move 3 seats from 224 row 17 to 225 row 7 which is huge for me as i have 3 others in row 5 and we are a family of 6. At 11am there were 34 seats available in 225 and none showing in the site for members if the public

I was able to snag a pair in 220, Row 20. There are a few singles left in that section. Nothing left in 221.

Yeah I moved across 221 to be right on the aisle to 222. Still seemed to be some decent lower row selection in 209/210.

Was able to move down to section 209 row 11. There where lots of seats throughout the stadium. Section 221 had a few good options as well.

Just got this in my mailbox:

Limited Number Of Lower Bowl Seats Will Be Released On Jan 18th

Relive that playoff atmosphere and watch as the stadium erupts with every goal scored next season. In 2017, there’s one last thing to do, and we don’t want you to miss it.

On January 18th, new Season Ticket Membership locations will be available including a limited number of lower bowl and premium options. These seat locations will only be available via an appointment time with a Toronto FC Sales Rep.
