If TFC scores first, this is quite winnable. If Chicago scores first and then bunkers, Chicago will win.

Chicago strategy- bunker down and spring a counter when our line comes too high.

OgtheDim
09-04-2016, 07:13 PM
Its been their strategy all season - the difference is Accam actually scored a few and they now have somebody in the midfield who can pass.

Their midfield can be bypassed in transition still. And I've never been fond of Sean Johnson.

I'd like to see a 4-3-1-2 for this game. Hopefully Cooper sees his first minutes, in the 1 position, I'd really like to see how he links up with the midfield and the forwards. Sharing minutes with Chapman and Osorio would be ideal.

He keeps possession as opposed to running into the defence and losing the ball. And he does more than pass back, if you watch him.

Oh oh, we may have some injury issues. Delgado - shoulder; Ricketts -- groin or hamstring; Beitashour -- knee. Deldado's injury looks most serious so far.

Looks pretty good overall. TFC leading 9-3 on shots, against a Chicago team that has been playing much better lately. However our defence gave a couple of golden chances for no real reason. Guys are falling asleep at key times.

Hopefully Cooper comes in sooner rather than later. Chicago will come out guns blazing. Out attacking midfield is not the best so far, plus some crass turnovers.

Some good coaching chess moves this game. Great move Chicago moving to 4-3-3 and substituting Accam when Toronto looked to be going defensive. Good counter by Vanney to bring on Delgado and have him man-mark Accam.

A little shaky defensively but good to see a road win against a tough to beat at home team.

I think you mean, take Delgado off & put Hagglund on.

I was sweating bullets when Hagglund fell & got his hands on the ball in the penalty area. A bit lucky we didn't get a PK called there, or the free kick in a dangerous area from Bradley's hand ball in the last minute. We'll take it in return for some awful calls earlier in the season. Yup! The ref will say "ball to hand, natural position" etc. but they don't usually call it that way when the ball is coming from the player himself!

Another solid effort on the road. Other than a couple of defensive hiccups, we did a good job absorbing their attack, and we looked much better in the offensive third of the pitch without Seba compared to the last game.

Cooper looks like a solid player. He's got vision, great technical ability, and he tracks back defensively.

same with johnson

I think Johnson is only gradually regaining form after his serious injury. Some good play (especially in a DM role), and some bad.

Osorio I think has run out of excuses. Sad really, he seemed to be developing into something special one or two years ago.

Have we ever won three in a row on the road before? I doubt it.

Apparently not:

Also, seemed to me like Osorio was a little overcome with emotion after scoring, he kind of buried his head in his hands. Goals have been hard to come by for him, and I doubt constantly being passed over by Floro is an easy thing to just brush off... happy to see him get one.

That first place talk is ok but I am fully expecting NYRB to come out tomorrow and put 3+ in the DCU net.
3-3 draw.

It's so nice after so many years to see tfc winning. Feels so great. Seeing us in 1st is such a good feeling. 6 more games to go-keep this beautiful run going.

I saw from cooper exactly what I wanted to see. Some flair and not afraid to shoot. And the excellent defensive awareness was a bonus. Few more games to get more fit and into rythm and this guy will be clutch in playoffs.

Bring them on indeed, but let's not get cocky, they are a legit team and not that far away from us points wise.

Every road win is a good win. Altidore is on a mission right now.

Cooper looked pretty decent to me, seems to have some fairly quick feet. Definitely an option off the bench when we need creativity.

Shame Hamilton couldn't bury that chance at the end, just needed a better touch when it came down. Nice spot and kick from Bono.

At first I thought that Hamilton didn't do very well on that play, but on the replay from behind the goal, it looked to me like he almost slotted it between Johnson's legs, but Johnson closed the door just in time.

I am an avid reader of RPB but infrequent on submissions. However, feel I need to put in my 2 cents today. I have been season ticket holder from day 1 and have hung in there all 10 years. I feel the club has really hit a new level. They have had all sorts of injuries this year and have found a way to win. This last game was typical of the club. Missing our top scorer, 3 players coming back from international duty, and on the road where we have never won before. Also coming off a stinker game at home. What do we do, win. What I find most interesting, is we discuss the quality of the win. In years gone past we would have killed for any kind of a win, ugly or beautiful. Also when is the last time we gave up a goal in the last 5 minutes to lose or tie a game, I can't remember! Hats off to the team and management. We have come a longway

Two goals without Seba, I like it (Granted that 2nd was comical).

Liked what Cooper brought in the second half, but hopefully he was just excited to finally feature for his new team and doesn't become this year's Stevanovic (probably without the superiority complex).

Can we please stop with the #VanneyOut sarcasm for once? It's getting INCREDIBLY annoying. Game wasn't pretty, TFC won, let's be happy & hope the boys get the job done at home & once in Montreal from here on.

Yes I agree, I think Vanney has been redeeming himself all season, the odd hiccup and getting out managed on occasion is going to happen, Even I get outmanaged on Xbox 360, which I know is hard to imagine!!

Ugly wins are just wins, Roll on TFC.
