Good Morning D.
It will be great to get some of our walking wounded back in the line-up.
Time to put out a fire this Saturday!

Haha...it always kills me that people making so much money try to find ways to avoid taxes. Like at some point they decide that the amount of millions per year is not enough and they need to find ways to keep more of it. Totally out of touch with reality and of course nothing will happen to him in the end besides paying a fine.

One rule for him and one rule for the rest of us. Look south of the border and you'll see it happening at the highest of positions, too.

Above a certain income, it seems it's very common for accounts, lawyers, investment advisers etc. to suggest stuff like this. It's totally normal in certain circles. Not to absolve Messi & his dad of the guilt, but such finance professionals make more money if they can come up with a tax avoidance scheme. Many people do it a bit smarter, or a bit less aggressively, and never get caught. In many cases, it's 100% legal (depending on tax laws in different locations and many other details).

And with regular companies, it's called "tax efficiency" and is often 100% legal. Moving money between company branches; reporting all income in a place like Ireland or Luxembourg, regardless of where the bulk of sales or income is earned, where the most employees are, etc. Google, Microsoft, Uber, and many more. Hopefully some of this will change some day.

Messi is not going to jail, by Spanish law all jail sentences under 2 years are "on probation", Messi conveniently got 21 months.

Lionel Messi given 21 months for tax fraud, won't go to prison (http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/lionel-messi-given-21-months-tax-fraud-wont-go-prison/)
