Anybody who thinks we would have been better to keep Joe Bendik should watch the first 10 minutes of this game tonight.

Shockingly bad distribution coupled with mistimed kicks - lucky for Orlando Josh Saunders looks worse

Og! Clean sheet and Away win! Harsh, man, harsh.

Og! Clean sheet and Away win! Harsh, man, harsh.

Deservedly harsh. He was freaking awful the first 10 minutes. He went to kick a ball up field and, no he didn't slice it out, no that would be too easy for our Joe, no Joe Bendik actually managed to tap it 30 feet to his left in front of a charging New York player. I've never seen anything that bad outside of kids soccer.

Then he reverted to the norm - stopped 1 good one, watched most sail past the post or onto the post, still managed to kick the ball every time to somebody other then his own players.

He was less good then New York was wasteful.

Soooooooooo glad he's gone.

Og! Clean sheet and Away win! Harsh, man, harsh.

The height of irony since Frei left, man. C'mon.

Both keepers in this were saved by defenders, deflections and just poor shots. And that's just the highlights.

Larin off injured. :(

I'll be looking for updates. Mexico is next week.

Wasnt he off due to sickness rather than a straight injury? I think hell be fine for next week, just take it easy for a bit the next couple days then worst case chug a couple tylenols if his stomach still feels cramped on the day of the match.

Hope so. I'm sure he'll do everything he can to get up for the big game.

Fire attendance is pretty bad. Columbus given up on the minions costumes, for now. Neither team all that good.

Red Bulls looking decidedly better then Columbus and Chicago but not really all that good. Midfield is dangerous but that defence can be had.

Man, Gideon Baah and Ronald Zubar does not make an MLS defence. They're atrocious.

Wow terrible terrible defence by NYRB. It is not that Houston is in good form, NYRB's just gifted them 2 goals. Good result at this point for us!

Jason de Vos always has such a hard on for Vancouver

If TFC started the season 0-2 then he'd be ripping us to shreds

I figured there would be some goals in that game but that was crazy.

RBNY did well getting the 3 pt, going to be difficult for them now with those key injuries.

Just my $0.02 but based on the start of this game: the gap in quality between the teams looks large.

Van are lucky to get that penalty.

OgtheDim
03-19-2016, 09:36 PM
That doesn't look like a penalty....of course Devos creates something out of thin air to justify it.

Vancouver gets a penalty because bolanos trips over himself

JdV: "hats off to the official for getting that one right"

Van look more settled now. The way they allow Manneh to operate is embarrassing. No effort defending whatsoever.

Geiger is awful. They need to throw him out of the league.

Hmmm....refs seem to have been told to not let Drogba push off in the box.

oooo Nice goal by Urruti. Route 1.

Montreal looked quite good against Dallas who were definitely gonna come back with a good response after last week.

Jordan Morris is probably one of the most one footed players I've seen in a while

Vancouver got two real soft penalties. They haven't scored from open play in three games. They have stepped back in a big way. Ousted has looked shaky to start the season as well. Robbo wil have a challenge getting them to the playoffs again.

One of the big things behind Vancouver not playing so well -

Laba has been crap.

What happened to him? Teams figured a workaround?

From what I'm seeing he's not as aggressive as he has been in the past. He's sitting deeper and when he does make a foray towards an onrushing midfielder/forward, he's not making as many tackles.

Hugh Jazz
03-20-2016, 10:13 AM
He's missed a chunk of pre-season so let's see if he needs a couple more weeks to get up to speed. He's also had a different partner each week so far with Flores and Morales playing particularly bad on the defensive side of things.

OgtheDim

So I guess the main point of the Colorado game today is to see who's going to be Tim Howard's understudy come July.

I can't see how they looked good vs Dallas by losing 2-0. All the articles I read basically said they got owned for most of the match.

Laba's role with caps is based on working in tandem with another mid in box to box role. He's basically doing work of 2 players defensively bc the other guy either sucks or is morales who doesn't work much defensively

Union stadium is always an interesting look near that bridge. Too bad not many show up to games in Chester.

A lot of errant passes from both teams. And then there was the diving head whiff that allowed the Union to take a lead. Ilsinho for the Union looks good on their right.

Saying they got owned would be an overstatement. Montreal had some good spells throughout the game, just couldn't keep it together towards the end. Still stand by my initial comment, Dallas was the best home team last year and had a strong game after last week's drubbing. If Montreal continues on like this they'll be in the top 3 in the East. Their DMs though both had weaker games.

By contrast, SKC beat Vancouver 2-1 last week and they definitely got owned in the first half even before going down a man.

Both Union goals in the first half came from crosses on the left, let's have Giovinco feeding Altidore when we play the Revs.

Make that 3 from the left, last one was a bit different though with the Revs down a man. Philly unable to convert 2 PKs today.

Yes, I could not agree more. He always said Vancouver built the team the right way and TFC had all wrong. I believe Vancouver is going to have a tough year. They were fortunate to win. Their first goal was in no way a PK.
