Orlando and Chicago should be...I want to say entertaining but I think that's giving these teams too much credit. Relevant I guess?

Really bad mistake on the first Montreal goal by Baah, that was a gift. The second though, Red Bulls had just awful shape in the back, and Baah did not read the through ball at all. They had stopped playing by the third.

I called Montreal for a 2nd place finish in the East before the season started. They're solid from top to bottom, as much as I don't like to see it.

Do the Impact even need Drogba now? What a start for them so far sit his ass down , let this league sign players that really want to be here as DP's if a player does not want to be here and comes up with all these demands of where he plays and when he plays or when he starts training, fuck u you sign a contract you play and train just like the rest of the team, if not then get the fuck out!

Montreal's circulation from the 80-85th minute was pretty impressive to see, Red Bulls looked helpless.

I've been impressed with Portland and Montreal and us so far. Everybody else is finding their way.

LAG starts Magee.

Colorado is 2005 era MLS passing quality. Maybe cause most of their team were playing in 2005.

And Columbus doubles down on the minions uniforms playing them for their home opener.

Little thing going on in the Rapids LAG game that will likely affect our game there in a few weeks.

Ref is letting LAG slow the game down and is actually slowing it down himself. Ref assessor will likely get the next Rapids home game ref to speed things up a bit. That's us. Our attempts to slow the game down will likely be tougher.

SKC exploiting Vancouver's lack of defensive ability in the 3 in that 4-2-3-1. We can't let SKC pull us from left to right like that.

Vancouver had a horrid half. Now down a man to start the second, they need to turn things around big time.

Think we'll have to enjoy this kid while we can, he keeps this up Europe will be calling quickly. Could be a little lighter on his feet at times but man that guy is lethal and barely wastes a touch.

The results tonight... I don't even know what to say. What a crazy start to the season.

Colorado 1-nil over the Galaxy. Philadelphia wins 2-1 on the road to Columbus. And Houston with a 5-0 drubbing of Dallas at home.

The Whitecaps RB situation, by the way... I think they might've bungled it. Fraser Aird had a bad debut there last week and today Jordan Smith had a shocker, poor first half at the end of which he got a straight red.

Thanks for Beitashour though!

I bet they 'Caps fans wish they still had him. Aird played better today at least.

You cant rest on your laurels in this league, the ever expanding salary cap (+TAM, etc.), maturing talent pool and knowhow means most teams are improving significantly every season. You snooze you lose!

Crazy results tonight. Rapids looked kinda good, although if LAG was at full strength it may have been a different story. Philly's GK had an amazing game and so did Clark for Columbus - tons of saves for both. I didn't watch Hou v Dal, to my regret.

Not until teams settle into form, at least.

MLS teams only settle into form in October.

I was thinking about this this morning. The TSN punditry, including Kristian Jack who I respect in many ways, has stated that TFC should be dominating teams week in and week out and until then, TFC won't be what they should be. Sure, if this was the EPL or somewhere in Europe. But, in MLS, teams don't do that. Dallas is not a bad team - Hedges had a shocking game making some stupid decisions but he's not a bad MLS class defender. The idea that a team should dominate every week, to me that idea comes from a European perspective as to how leagues work and how teams should be judged. Can't do that in MLS.

There is just too much
a) disparity between the technical skills in some players on the same team
b) parity between rosters technical levels
c) travel
d) lack of speed in soccer thought

In the long run, form and quality will tend to give a team 9-12 points more then another. That's it. 3-4 wins worth. You don't see 4-6 loss seasons like we see in the EPL, for example.

e) lack of consistency from most players

e) lack of consistency from most players

Which is mostly two parts:

A) They aren't fit enough to carry the same level of play into each game
B) they lack the technique to continually bring new things to each game and adapt to the opponent.

I liked the way Amarikwa started jogging back to the middle even before the ball had gone in the net.

Tough seeing Dom scoring still. Tough day for Canada's Ouimette vs his old home team.

Montreal looked quite deadly, Piatti very clinical. It will be a tough test for TFC to play Montreal, especially if you add Drogba to an already strong and balanced squad.

That Texas Derby was a shellacking. Surprised Dallas boffed it so badly. Urruti with one of the only chances but no net.
