The TFC season kickoff is March 6th away at NYRB. The start of a new campaign (and start of a long road stretch) has more than a few of us fired up. Maybe you fancy a bit of travel and a day out in enemy territory? You can join the RPB Road Warriors travelling to Red Bull Arena too. Away supporter ticket arrangements have been made (Visit this ticket link (https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/nyredbulls/EN/link/promotion/home/026431a0f8d470bffcb64afef6cda764c3da1ed0), use promo code TFC16). To help with the cause, we’ve arranged bus transportation as well. So if you're interested in getting on the bus, and we have the numbers, we'll be on the road representing for the Reds (Reserve your seat here (http://rallybus.net/red-bulls-tfc)) Stand with your fellow supporters & celebrate the new season! (Of course we'll be getting together at home as well too!)

The Reds will be kicking off their 2016 season on Sunday January, 6th in Harrison, New Jersey vs. the Red Bulls. Will be great to get a good contingent of us out for it to support the Reds. The game is the first of six on the schedule for the league on their opening day. TFC will also be in New York City the next Sunday, March 13 to the face NYCFC up in the Bronx.

After several weeks on the road to started the season due to BMO Field renovations the home opener for the Reds is May 7 vs. Dallas.

Hmm tough decision btwn attending NYRB vs NYCFC. I'm kinda leaning to NYCFC (lies on march break) but I'll make a decision when the full schedule comes out to see if we have an extra game at either venue.

For anyone who does not know New York / New jersey at all, I flew from Toronto Island (Porter) to Newark International Airport in August (Prime tourist season) for $240 round trip. I Got a train from Newark International Airport for $7.50 to Penn Station (in the heart of Manhatten), took all of about 20-25 mins on the train. But we passed New York Red Bull Arena on the way, it was what must of been only about 10 minutes from Newark Airport, had we got a different train ( they have many different extensive trains from Newark Airport into Newark, Manhatten, Philadelphia and else where) we could of got a train straight to the stadium. Its a quick journey if you flying. You might even get a cheaper flight in March!

Id say NYCFC would be a great road trip as well into The Bronx, on a great Subway Line, except the Yankee stadium looks awful for Soccer. Id rather visit the beautiful Red Bull Arena...even if it is in ugly Harrison (a lot of industrial neighbourhood in Harrison and around Newark) but still. And its actually a quick train from Red Bull Arena to Mid Town Manhattan where everything is. You can easily get a hotel in Manhattan Midtown (tho Manhattan is expensive) and be at the stadium in no time...or for a low price you can even get a cheap hotel in Newark and the surrounding area. Tho Id recommend to still stay in Manhattan if anything.

Booked my bus ride down Friday night and a Porter Flight back home Sunday evening 7:25 PM. Got a flight on the 6th after the game for Porter home for $112 one way from Newark within 20 min of the stadium, so a good 2 hours at the pub near the stadium, pretty good deal. Porter sales are on a lot so keep your eye out.

Will be in NYC/NJ for the game on the 6th, come for that one, much better place to watch a game than Yankee Stadium. Getting into town the Saturday morning and heading out at 7:25 pm Sunday night after the game. Come for that game. Will also also be in CBus for the US WCQ.

Bus deal is so cheap and the Porter flight at $112 is in Canadian dollars, so that helps a lot. No brainer for me, especially considering that the home opener is two months into the season.

Yankee Stadium is great location in the actual city of NYC, its just an awful stadium for Soccer, they should of never got into the MLS league without an official new stadium under construction, I don't think they have any land purchased, from what I gathered they are still struggling to find any land in NYC to build on, mostly looking hard at a West Side location at the very tip of Manhattan, just across the river from The Bronx and just facing New Jersey. It would be great if they get that built, but they were looking at that location I believe even back in 2011, and nothing yet has been done. I think there is difficulties building it, but they probably have no where else to build in NYC, they could end up building a stadium outside of NYC in the end, could end up further from the heart of NYC then Red Bulls are.

there's essentially a zero percent chance they get a stadium in manhattan. Garber knew that. He sold his soul to serial human rights abusers for a little more exposure league wide as a brand. It was never going to work. the team that plays at yankee stadium will be the last team to fold in MLS.

I would suggest people going down verify security rules before they go.

The NYRB vs CBus game in the conference finals had long lines because of rules put in place after the Paris attacks. Not sure if they will be continued but worth looking into in February.

Uh, no.

They had a plan for Queens, and they now have a plan being worked on for a ground share with Colombia near the top of the Island.

There has been plans in 3 boroughs, all of which have been quickly shot down for various reasons. I've heard and read that there is very little progress on the columbia front from people in new york. Maybe that will change but the over-riding theme of their search for a stadium is that they don't seem to understand the gravity of what they want to do - build a soccer specific stadium in a city deeply deprived of space - being that they are asking for so much and looking to put so little into the project. One of the writers who covers that "team" wrote this: http://fusion.net/story/217487/mls-nycfc-soccer-specific-stadium-new-york-city/
It pretty much sums it all up. It's like they want to be treated like royalty or something.

And yes i've seen the attendance figures. They were massively inflated for a large portion of the season and then were bumped a bit when lampard and pirlo came. Their owners have shown a complete disregard for how things work in this league, and that will lead to their eventual demise.

Yeah the travel deal is great no argument there. It is just the other part in US $ that would kill my budget, hotels, food, spending money. Every away trip I have been to I usually take my family too so multiply most of those things by 4 people and that about does it for me and my budget :) I will be with everyone in spirit. Who knows I may win a lottery...

NYFC is not going anywhere, they did better than expected attendance wise, I went to a game there and the stands we pretty full, even games I watched on TV the crowds were always good. MLS needs a team right in the NYC so if they ever build a stadium it will be inside the city. Yankee stadium is not ideal but you can't beat that location.

The Supporter's Section is looking into it. It would be an either/or scenario .... either the 6th or the 13th. Estimated/ballpark price is $235.

The key is commitment. As you'll remember, they offered up a bus to Montreal for the final regular season game but it was cancelled due to lack of uptake.

I want to go to New York in March to watch TFC play. If the dollar didn't tank so badly this past year, I would definitely consider. And with two different back to back games being played, I don't know which is the best one for us as a group of supporters to go to. GAAAAA, but my head hurts. And it's not from the end of the work year booze that's doing it! :drunk:

If anyone is planning on taking a flight to Newark using Porter, wait until Boxing Day as they have awesome deals available on all flights. That's how I booked my trips to Montreal for the matches against the Limpact in 2012 and 2013.

Hot pastrami on rye at Katz's. Coal oven pizzas at Lombardi's. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Getting totally lost in Central Park. Those are the things to look forward to in New York if you're going.

I know you don't like the owners but don't create fantasy stuff.

It seems a bit more complicated then that. They have looked at many locations, the 3 most likely I believe first 1 being in Queens (next to NY Mets stadium) another was in The Bronx right next to Yankee Stadium and 3rd was sharing a ground at Colombia University at the very tip of Manhattan in I think would be Hudson Heights? The best would be next to Yankee Stadium. However they have yet to come up with any deals finalized. I am not sure the details but it seems they are still rather far from getting land purchased and a stadium under construction. I believe there is many hurtles and hoops to still jump through to get any of these deals done. And might not get any. Tho I hope they do, its good for MLS if this team can get a stadium in NYC and in a Soccer stadium, awful looking at them play at Yankee stadium, which back to my original opinion, they should of never got into the league without a stadium ready to be built and finalized.

One reason I'd like to see us put a big score on NYC is the tosser President (or whatever they call him) who got rid of Kreis who came over from Citeh and knows nothing about MLS now is being seen as an up and coming voice in the league - talks a good game but has no clue about how to build a team in this league.

The financial district is cheaper than say staying in midtown and its just a subway ride up. I booked a deal of the day offer on Expedia. I have been to Legends/Football Factory a few times, its pretty good. The Red Bulls supporters have their away viewing parties there.

From my past experience the Red Bulls are one of the teams that needs someone from an official supporters group needs to set it up. In the past if an individual called and asked for an away section ticket they were always asked if they were a Supporter Group and only would sell to someone officially with one, ie leadership.

Whoever you dealt with had the wrong information... I have been in contact with the leaders of all the groups with regards to tickets. I also have the direct contact for the people that do the away ticketing for the red bulls. They usually try to get 1 mass purchase and then supplement based off of a link but since nobody is planning any mass travel we are doing only the link.

However for those of us looking to predrink at Catas before the game, it appears we will either have to do a quick smash and dash, or possibily do up the

Came to the games before at RBA with my suit case and never had an issue, they were quite good about it just like they were last October at Saputo when I was catching the bus right after so no issues at either place.

I've asked and had no response to that question. I'm on the 730 flight back so will have a backpack or small bag with me.

I'll follow up with their front office this week, if I still get no response I'll get someone in our front office to make contact.

Cool, thanks - any feedback from the NYRB folks would be very helpful. Judging from Red CB Toronto's response I'm hoping it won't be an issue though. As an absolute worst case scenario, Newark airport isn't too far away so I was thinking I could go drop my bags there before the game and then just hop back on the train back to the arena (assuming Porter's check-in is open ~7 hours before the flight), but it would be way easier to not have to do that.

As far as i can tell everything is dry on sunday til noon. You can tailgate if anyone is driving to the game but i doubt that is happening.

We have the full top part of 220 to ourselves, no other tickets were sold and below us is players comps.

For everyone bringing a bag to the game as i know many of us are flying out sunday night from newark... please be at gate C1 at 1230 for the bag check.

Looking forward to seeing everyone saturday night

Heard Geno can help you for the away supporters section, Geno.DiMillo@nycfc.com or 212-738-5860.

Ya $4 pints all night, and $4 shots of Jameson, Jager, or Cuervo. Dangerous. Appears saturday's are karoake starting at 10pm.
They don't have a kitchen, but my friend did say they have menu's so you can order in lol

Just a thought, Peter Dillon's has two locations. The one at 36th and 5th does not have the Karaoke on Saturday night if that is something we want to avoid. otherwise stick with their 40th street location. Same $4 beer and shots at both.

Has anyone checked to see if the bar is showing the UFA? and if they are if they have a cover?

I suspect not based on karaoke taking place, but not 100% sure. Peter Dillon's I know does not charge a cover.
