Yes, we have a game in between but things are going to come thick and fast this month.

***

Something some people may not be thinking about but this is the only match between the leagues 2 best players this season

Giovinco

Feilhaber

Big test for TFC.

Dwyer out for SKC is a plus balacing off Altidore's likely not being around.

Get ready for a LOT of whining from the team in blue - Vermes MO.

Sounds like we've finally caught a break from the disciplinary committee. No additional suspension for Altidore means he'll be available for this one.

The Reds will be coming off a mid-week tilt with a shaky defence against one of the best backlines in MLS. I'm thinking a 1-1 draw is the likely result even without the SKC strikers. Giovinco works some magic and the defence suffers another brain fart. My other thought is a 0-0 final.

Perquis needs to take Anger Management classes. There was one play where the referee booked an Orlando player with a yellow card and in comes Perquis with veins popping out of his neck, arguing with the referee. WTF.

I may be tempted to leave Jackson at RB and Morrow at LB. Jackson has played well the last couple of games and Morrow offers much more of an offensive threat at LB than when he plays RB. This is not because I don't want Morgan back, I just think Morrow is way better at LB than RB. And he is a pretty savvy player and I assume would be up against Zusi so his experience may come in handy.

It might also be because he only played part of that game, and at the end they already knew he would be playing the next game due to Perquis' yellow. So a way for him to get closer to a full-game workout as well as test his fitness.

This is honestly a very difficult choice. I wouldnt' say Osorio has been better though. Osorio may hold the ball up better he doesn't have the vision/shot/attacking prowess that Delgado has. At the same time would Delgado be as effective on the sides of the diamond? Not so sure.

Against a team like SKC, do you want to go out and attack them or do you want some added defensive coverage.. again a very difficult question. Since Espinoza is gone, as well as Dwyer that hurts them on two fronts but they still have Nemeth and Feilhaiber. I go with Osorio/Warner for this game and do a quick sub in the second half to get Delgado at least 30min.

Delgado is the ultimate shuttler, much more so than Oso. The Kid can cover as much ground as Bradley, plus he's got both defensive and offensive chops so he's built to play on the side of a diamond. He's a vertical player so if he does replace someone, it's going to be Warner.

Oso is much more important as a creative force so I disagree with on his lack of vision compared to Delgado. In the last game alone, he could have had 4-5 assists to some very good chances.

Cashcleaner
08-08-2015, 09:11 AM
Like Og mentioned, the weather should be pretty mild (21c) with clouds at kick-off - not too warm and not too cool.

As for our opponent, SKC is sitting in 5th place in the West with 34 points and a record of 9-4-7. TFC is currently 3rd in the East with 31 points and a record of 9-8-4. Kansas City has had some mixed results recently, drawing 1-1 against Houston at home on Aug 1, losing to RSL 2-1 away on Jul 24, and winning 3-1 at home against Houston on Jul 21.

Sporting Kansas City actually did a pretty good job digging up stats on both teams here for the statistic aficionados: Toronto FC v Sporting Kansas City By The Numbers (http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2015/08/numbers-sporting-kc-toronto-fc-aug-8-2015)

But as for today's match, I think TFC has a great shot at picking up 3 more points at home. Our offense should be firing well with Gio, Altidore, and Bradley all expected to be on the pitch. Would love to see a shutout, but SKC plays some very strong attack-oriented football.

SKC plays VERY well at home. That said, they draw pretty well on the road. I haven't followed them as much this year because I have been SO busy with work, but we need to be loud like we were on Wednesday from minute 1.

I love Vermes for that! Gamesmanship!

Now, can our boys keep the ref in their peripheral vision to be sure to take advantage of Vermes' aggressive and physical style with some embellishment, well, that is also Gamesmanship!

All that said, I would ideally like to see strong discipline by the ref at the beginning so there isn't a fight at the end.

it was a PK based on the rules. You can not put your hands on the shoulder's of a player while he's in the air. Even if you don't pull that player down or remove your hands it's a PK. Once that ball is on it's way into the box and you put your hands on a players should while he's in the air. Then that's a PK. Kantari had a Perquis bone head moment.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time we can't break down a team parking the bus. As soon as they got their second and set up shop we barely got a look. It's a problem.

Delgado and Warner were so bad in midfield today. I honestly don't understand it at all, they were both missing touches and passes that they've been nailing time and time again over the past month. Makes no sense how they'd suddenly both be such liabilities.

I defended Jozy before, but there's no defending that miss. He's paid and played to score that header. Bench him.

How is this club just unable to sign a good CB? It's fucking ridiculous. Perquis is a mistake-prone hothead that can pass the ball well. Kantari is suspect and looks like he's wearing lead shoes.

We bring in two big signings to shore up the defense and Zavaleta ends up being our best CB. Fucking unbelievable and it's going to sink our chances of doing anything in the playoffs.

Oh, and Bendik was trash today. Two poor performances in a row from him. Back to Konopka.playoffs ? Playoffs ? I'm hoping we can win another game.

Defence isn't good enough and we knew that.

Midfield lives by the mistakes of the other team and that didn't happen today. Delgado kept losing the ball.

That having been said, this game should have a tie.

That was every bit as bad as Wednesday was good. There is a lot of bad play to single out, but Altidore had his worst game as a TFC player imo. Fought for nothing. Did nothing. He was embarrassing.

We can play good football when we want but right now we are a 1 in 2 (to borrow from Paul Mariner). Every other game we expect to be handed the points, or that Seba is just going to get them on his own and the rest of the team doesn't show up.

I think the guys were tired which is why our link up play was off. In games like this, the keeper has to step up. Bendik isn't making big saves for us, and to make matters worse, he keeps letting in soft goals every game.

From my seat at BMO, I disagree about Altidore. Was working very hard but the forwards got no service.

But, Altidore, Bradley and Warner should have scored.

Let down by a bad defence who should not have given up 1 let alone 3.
