I'm pretty sure the league is strong arming us into getting Giovinco to go after Gerrard, Lampard, and Bradley all backed out. I'd question 'always' with respect to playing for one's country - I hope our players find the right balance between playing for country even in meaningless games versus playing meaningful games for the team that pays them and whose shirt they are supposed to wear with pride.

I think TFC just wanted him to enjoy some star treatment.
They flew both him and Jozy down to match in a private jet.
He'll get to take in the all-star "glitz and glamour" maybe get a bunch of interviews in from different media outlets that may not get a chance otherwise, eat at some fancy ass restaurants, go to after parties...etc etc.
