While I do appreciate that work Tim L has done from a management perspective, I don't really like the idea of him personally giving out beers to supporters. It's just tacky.

Remember Doug Ford handing out $20 bills while campaigning?

handing out beers to make nice with the supporters who have a serious issue with the shared stadium? You don't see anything wrong with that? it's putting on a show to placate the unrest.

An apology and perhaps incentive to renew essential season seats would have done far more than handing out beers to people. The desperate scramble of people trying to get a beer was sad to watch.

thats on the receivrs end, i wouldnt havent taken a beer out of principal

But if you came to my house to discuss an issue you had with my choices, i would still be offering you a beer.

Its not the Tim's first time to hand out beers, he's done it for us in the North End. I see it as an appropriate gesture.

I know how it seems to come off, but I dont think the beer offering should be taken as offensive.

I dont agree with the ARGOs coming, I dont think there is a high possiblity of keeping the grass in good shape for every game. But when Tim messed up (Defoe and Gilberto) he came back at us with Giovinco & Jozy.
You cant say he isnt trying his best, but he still is operating under MLSE. He isnt a solo artist.

I didn't take any of these beers even though my throat was sore from chanting and drinking one would be awesome... Just didn't feel right at all... Not judging anyone who took the beer but I wasn't gonna have it.

OK, I'll judge them. I was extremely disappointed in a few of our regulars in 113 for taking the tainted beer. "Beer is beer" one of them said to me. I didn't retort but my blood was boiling. I wasn't the only person in the front row to turn my back on TL and walk the other way. Some of the beer grabbers were not regulars. I saw one fellow, not a regular, grab three!

Tacky? Ya, that's one word for it. Bribe beer!

I also question TL's judgement in going into the stands to confront that supporter. It's pointless. It's no win. It was a foolish thing to do. His flunky (the MLSE Dir of Comms I believe) was even worse! He's the one that further accelerated the aggravation ... and then the mall cops moved in with their dumb "please return to your seat sir" to one of the guys diffusing the situation.

Argh!

The picture you're painting is incomplete. If he had come into the section and made an apology, and promised to rectify it, and gave us beer - that would be something but he can stuff the beer.

He came back with Seba and Jozy. There's no coming back from taking a specific surface and replacing it with groundshare.

Tim Lieweke's legacy is groundshare. That's what will stay for years after he's gone later this season. No beer is going to repair that.

can't argue with the gesture of it - it was nice thing to do.

But the way it was done was very inappropriate.

First off doing at the game in which a protest was being held was poor timing on his part. I don't even have to explain that one. Any one with common sense should know that.

And doing it in a suit was the douche cherry on the top of a douche Sunday . He looked like a corporate douche trying to buy off the supporters. Not even a red scarf, TFC jersey, nothing - he was all corporate. He was MLSE embodied in a person.

Interesting that the video has now been deleted. For those of us who didn't catch it, what was the gist of the argument?

just the optics of the whole things were mindblowing. left me speechless (after chanting at them). How in the hell one comes to that decision. Actually raises all sorts of questions about their mindset, decision making credibility of management and that marketing team heh.... craziness

thats true, in light of the "demonstration", perhaps it was a bad call. But puting himself out there, open to ridicule is more than you will get from any other CEOs,CFOs, presidents. They are a breed of their own, living on their own planet.
