I am going to assume that it will be the main club logo.

IMO, I think the TFCII logo was created to emphasize the difference between the two teams. Just like how the academy has logo/crest but they wear the club crest on their jerseys.

I expect you would flip aparicio and chapman in this. Chapman is more of a two-way guy, isn't he? And MAnny has always looked like a between-the-lines hole player.

Morgan getting time with TFCII is likely an indication that he won't be going to Utah. 2 trips in a week ain't a good idea.

Hope he finds his feet in USL.

Vanney said the complete opposite today. Said it was a good chance for him to get 90 mins under his belt before next week.

Hmmm... 1st Round draft choice Roberts can't get a look in. Falls to 8th (at least) on the CD totem pole. Good. Should be competition at the TFCII level. (assuming he's not injured)

Very true.

The combination of Fabrizi and Cimonen is struggling, especially when they have the pacey Dane Kelly running at them.
Morgan is the only defender that is playing good going forward and defending.

Some pretty shambolic defending today. Simonin left his man too loose on the first goal and guys were dropping out of position constantly. On the plus side the midfielders have skill; but you're right, as soon as Charleston dug in, it looked like pros against first-year pros, surprised at the intensity.

It's funny how people see things differently. I thought Charpie and Kaye were the two worst players on the pitch today, and Simonin was directly responsible on the first goal. Bono had a bit of a howler but also made a pair og great saves. Chapman was one of the better players on the pitch. Morgan played okay; he only blew one cross and he wasn't caught on position, which is an improvement.

Fun game, pretty good overall for the first game for the team ever and the first pro game for almost all of the players. The back four was pretty shocking but the team was good overall for a long road trip against a decent USL team.

The only bad thing from a TFC point of view was how average Ashtone Morgan looked. He should be dominating at this level at this point. Jordan Hamilton just scores everywhere.

Hamilton should get time in the Voyageurs Cup for sure and occasionally in MLS deeper into the season when we have injury and fatigue to deal with. If Montreal can get minutes for a guy like Porter (I know they have zero striker depth, but still) we should be able to find some for Hamilton.

But Porter got drafted into the perfect team that has probably 3 strikers where we have 6 that could all start on that Impact team.

Disagree. There will only be so many spots available on TFC II for academy players to jump into. The smart thing would be instead of just cutting ties, send them off to top NCAA programs to continue playing for 1-4 years. Not sure why TFC are behind on this but the top teams in MLS appear to have relationships with be best local and national programs to send their players out to. It's not perfect, but it does serve a purpose. Added, from a Canadian perspective, if a player went to Georgetown for example, they would likely be scouted by NYRB, DCU, Union and if TFC still didn't want them, they would have been 'in the shop window' for another club.

The idea that a pro league is going to substantially benefit from kids who weren't good enough as teenagers playing for another few years at a college level seems a bit counterintuitive. Not good enough by that age is usually pretty much it; sure there are the guys who slip through the cracks, but there's a reason players go pro at 18 all around the world, and its usually because they've been in a top residency program with a pro club from age 14 on.

Nothing stops the ones who don't make it from going to college now; Dom Dwyer and Steve Zakuani were both on club books as teenagers in England but were released and went to university and showed they're good enough for this level. So I see what you're saying. But the reality is that if we had the youth infrastructure to the same level of coaching quality and residency as the clubs in the UK, not many MLS players would come out of the college ranks.

It will happen eventually; sure, keep up relationships with schools now. But be aware that in the future, trying to start an MLS career at 24 is going to see sort of absurd.

I'd love to see Hamilton get first team mins, but it's hard to argue for him vs an ex EPL striker who potted 6 goals last season. I think Moore gets a shot first, then Hamilton if Moore sucks or gets injured

Greetings to my old RPB friends from the Land of Shrimp and Grits, it's been too long. I posted a message on the BS.com forum so forgive me if I repeat myself. Below is a link to some game photos from Mrs. BT. Her galleries are in game order so the photos will follow the scoreline. She got a good sequence of your 2nd goal with our GK stumbling, our centerback recovering the ball, Babouli stealing it from him then shooting from an acute angle. It happened right in front of the supporters section where I was standing, the whole sequence was depressingly stunning. And to be fair to Morgan or whoever was supposed to be marking our tall centerbacks, you can see from the photos that both our goals were massive goalmouth scrums, people are all over each other and a leg just gets thrown out that happens to get a touch on the ball for a goal. To be fair, if that had happened to us, I would say we were a bit unlucky.

To the question about the gator, yes, he/she is still in the pond behind the stadium, getting bigger/fatter every year. Yes, the game got a bit rough cause the ref sucked for both sides, a lot of obvious contact didn't get called and the players for both sides took the gloves off in the 2nd half. I saw one of our guys crush your player from behind and was sure he was going to get tossed.....a foul was called but no card of any color. To be honest, I was a little happy to see us using some muscle, most of the time, I think we're too nice. And yes, the USL is, for the most part, more brawn than finesse. If you have a bit of talent and finesse, you should be moving up the ladder.

As for age, as opposed to the past, when we were the oldest team in the league, we're all in on youth now. We have 1 hometown player who's about 28 and been with us since college but most of our players have been with us 3 years or less and I'd say our average age is about 24-25. And our total payroll is about 5% of what Altidore makes so talent wise, I'm going to say a typical USL team vs a MLS2 squad should be a fair fight.

It was a bit surreal seeing a Toronto team playing in Blackbaud Stadium and not have a couple dozen screaming drunk Cannucks to enjoy the game with. And hearing the Canadian National Anthem without King Dave singing it a cappella just wasn't the same. Good luck on your season and hopefully our paths will cross again.

Ha ha bribetaker nicely said! Thanks for the gator info -- I thought there was a whole squad in there, ready to gobble up whatever came their way. (I was hoping we could get a couple on loan, our 1st team backline is really thin these days.) I'm sad I never made it down to the tournament at your club in years past, always sounded like a great event.

Funny, even though I watched most of the game on the weekend, I've already forgotten most of it....

BTW, there's something wrong with the link to the photos in your post, maybe you can edit your post/fix the link? I get "404 Page not found."

Thanks for stopping by!

I'd love to see Hamilton get first team mins, but it's hard to argue for him vs an ex EPL striker who potted 6 goals last season. I think Moore gets a shot first, then Hamilton if Moore sucks or gets injured
I don't think it's too uneven. He always looks capable whenever he plays. Rohan Rickets used to play in the epl too...
