Voted for Sam. Mix at more time and space to pick out a corner. As nice as the Seattle team work looked, Giovinco's key pass was nicer than Pappa's and Keane's goal was nothing special at all.

That is just that writer's pick for GOTW. The whole piece is one writer's analysis of the first round...

I may be tired was a long day yesterday still not recovered fully then.. I didn't get that when I read it.. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.... It really won't be a surprise if it was though.

The writer's response to the tinfoil hat comment clearly states it was his opinion. I didn't read it as anything else.

"Ha, no Rob. It was my personal pick for goal of the week. The Illuminati is not involved."

Coming into this game, I had my doubts on Gio's playmaking ability in the middle of the park. I don't anymore.

Dempsey's goal was the best of the week but I couldn't bring myself to vote for those Starbucks drinking, grunge band listening, Frazer Crane watching, west coast hippies.

My issue with Dempseys is that he got a pass.. Seattle had beat the defence so it was just a guy kicking the ball into the net.

The other 4 were really very interesting.

I went Jozy only because his was the only one that truly beat a keeper, they others were either the person with the assist did the work of beating the keeper, or the keeper was just totally out of position from the beginning. The Llyod Sam one the keeper was so far away from that corner he had no chance.

Jozy got a pass and he did the work to put it in the net with the full attention of the keeper, so I voted for him.

Yeah, I voted for Dempsey's goal - not because HE did anything spectacular, but because it was a brilliant team goal.

Altidore's goal was the best individual effort, and the build up was superb as well. He got my vote.
