Yeah, it's a curiosity thing for me. I want to see how the Lions fans welcome their team to MLS. Plus there's the the whole Kaka vs. Villa thing. Also curious to see what ESPN does with their regular 5pm Sunday game in terms of coverage and presentation.

EDIT: Anyone currently in Newfoundland read this board? I wouldn't mind watching from a pub with any like-minded folks. I tend to get jealous hearing of all your viewing parties in T-Dot. Probably a question for /r/MLS.

Unless you have a VPN, probably zero. Anything on TSN1,2,3, OR 4 is blacked out this season as a "national" broadcast.

It's total bullshit, but if your computer says you're in Florida, you should be okay. Alternately, get adblock and try searching "cricfree"....

I checked in my MLS Live account, and selected "Are these games available?" The only one that's listed as being blocked for the whole weekend is the TFC - Vancouver game. Not sure how reliable that is, but generally that worked for me in the past.

Otherwise the VPNs seem to solve that problem.

I had very mixed results with VPNs last year, so much so that I gave up on MLS Live. Rogers owns the Jays and partially owns TFC. Yet MLB At.Bat doesn't black out any Jays games - so that's where my money went this year.

What does "scrubbing your machine entail exactly"?

Getting a good cleaner like PC Tools that will delete all extraneous crap from your computer on demand and spot malware that your security might miss. Streaming sites tend to sell ad space really cheap via adserver businesses like Google ads, and these sometimes contain malware.

You have to be careful with the cleaners too though, some can cause more damage than they fix.

I deal with stuff like cleaning up computers professionally at work. I've never actually gotten anything bad from a streaming sports site myself, although the ads are awful. But that's probably because I'm scrupulous with not clicking on anything unnecessary, or installing anything that might get offered. Plus make sure to have Windows patched; Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader, & Java fully updated, and Java blocked from running in the browser. Any of those things out-of-date -- that's the best way to get something nasty off a bad website, sometimes even w/o clicking.

Another guy at work on the other hand, keeps on infecting his computer with streaming sports sites. I've already cleaned his PC a couple of times, I have no idea how he manages to do that. Oh well.

So for today's viewing pleasure

3:00 pm DCU vs. Limp Acts

Interesting to see where DCU sits this season - many touting them for continued success. We play them twice this season, both games in June. Hopefully they are on a dip by then.

4:00 pm Philly vs. Rapids

Two teams touted to end up out of the playoffs. Research for Philly as we play them the first week of May. Rapids we don't see until September and who knows what they will look like by then.

8:30 pm Houston vs. Columbus

Houston in transition and in tough until Torres shows up mid season. Columbus touted by many to finish top 2. After our game today, worth seeing to figure out how we should play next week's game.

8:30 FC Dallas vs. Quakes

Meh....

10:30 pm Portland vs. RSL

Well the Tifo will be interesting and we do play RSL in our 3rd game. But, I for one am going to wait for the highlights.

For me, a dive is when there's no contact and the player goes down. I feel like carding should be reserved for when a player fakes contact. I'll have to watch them again to see if any of them stuck their leg out into the challenge to force contact, but IMO when a defender dives into a challenge, misses the ball, and clips the attacker, the benefit of the doubt should go to the attacker, even if that means simply leaving it as a no call. It just pisses me off to see defenders get away with hacking players down, while the refs decide to take a stand against embellishment.

BTW, who all was complaining that TFC didn't get Collin? Yeah, I'm glad that hack doesn't play for our team

OCSC-NYFC was a terrible match to watch. The quality on the pitch was all over the place. I'll obviously give them the benefit of the doubt because they are expansion teams, but it looked like no one was on the same page and both teams were unable to string anything together properly all match. I'm also starting to really dislike Orlando with all the diving that they do (the first two dives were correct in eyes, but the last one is questionable to me).

First impressions are important, and last night was the first game for a lot of new TFC fans. Anyways great coverage fox, seriously.

It just pisses me off to see defenders get away with hacking players down, while the refs decide to take a stand against embellishment.

BTW, who all was complaining that TFC didn't get Collin? Yeah, I'm glad that hack doesn't play for our team
imma be honest and say i wanted collin really badly this offseason but after i saw perquis i have nothing to complain about

I'm rooting for the draw, but if there has to be a winner I'd rather it be NYRB. I don't see them being as competitive this year.

Oh yeah.. I forget they switched over. Not looking good for them now after Besler picked up his 2nd booking for clattering BWP.

Gotta keep that reputation up. MLS is the league where being "Toledo'd" is a verb. :yellow:

I gotta say I really enjoyed the NY City - Orlando match. Even though they were two expansion sides, the quality is way beyond expansion teams just a few years ago, and Kaka really made things interesting, despite losing a step at his age. Kreis was very smart tactically to open up the width of play in the second half. The fans were something else and 60K+ of them! I don't remember MLS getting these kind of numbers, except for Seattle and double-headers with US-Mexico MNT games.

SKC vs Red Bulls is a pretty brutal game so far. Bad passing, bad first touches, bad refereeing and Dom Dwyer being a whiny little cunt.

well, he is married to the worst women on earth. Can't really expect much from a guy like that.

I'm so jealous of the coverage the American teams get. They actually make it seem like their broadcasting a top product that people care about. In Canada? We show the games between curling matches. I'm always a positive guy, but i'm just infuriated with that showing from yesterday. TSN should be embarrassed. First impressions are important, and last night was the first game for a lot of new TFC fans. Anyways great coverage fox, seriously.

The camera work and production was piss-poor during the TFC/Vancouver game. Multiple times they missed important plays (including one goal) while focussing on something important. And of course the curling delay...

I can already see a difference in quality with these two teams and some of the other games this weekend.

And the difference between this crowd and the Orlando one is the consistency of the chanting and the involvement of the whole stadium.

Even though they've been established for 5 years now, you really need to credit the engineering of their stadium. Century Link Field (or whatever its called now) bottles in the noise like nothing else I've ever heard.

Just watched the highlights, Toledo is such a dumb ass. He would rather pull the 2nd yellow rather than let NYRB play the obvious advantage.

Anybody figured out how many games are actually available on MLS Live this weekend?

Weird but all were available , except Tfc of course. Watching Seattle now, watched Orlando and then red bulls...... Great reference at Seattle called numerous dives in the box. Then there was Dempsey clear dive in the box gets the call. We're back to insane inconsistencies from the refs.

As a defender, you have to attack incoming crosses. Nobody but Martins did and its 2-0.

Bunbury keeps trying that flick on the right side of goal. One of these days he'll get it within two metres of the target.

I didn't see the yellows for simulation, very likely that the calls are inconsistent. However I just saw the call for Dempsey's PK, are you sure that's a dive? Looked like a pretty good hack at Dempsey's legs by Agudelo to me?

Watching the Seattle - NE game on MLS Live. Oddly, they hardly show any replays, even in situations where it would really be warranted.

Collin should be given marching orders for every one of those he makes.

Lol at Toledo not playing the obvious advantage on that foul. Man is that guy clueless. GOTW by Sam I think, as much as Gio to Altidore was a better team goal.

We're gonna get the US National team fan boost this year with Jozy. He'll win GOTW, book it.

Meanwhile I'm just sitting here wondering what the hell I was thinking making Zardes my fantasy captain instead of Martins.

TFC only East team to win vs. the West on opening week. Love it.

Maybe I misunderstand the ruling, but why was Dempsey not called for offside? The pass to him was forwards and only the goalkeeper was left in front(no other defenders).

If you are behind the ball, you can not be offside.
