One of the 3 worst "journalists" in Toronto sports history. And definitely the worst person.

Not when there's Scumbag Steve Simmons around.

Personally, I always liked his articles. The cynicism provided a good counterpoint to the hopeful tone of most of the TFC articles from other journalists. And in a sense he's right - we won't know if TFC has shot its wad or if it can become a sports fan destination again until probably three-quarters of the way through this season. But I have a better feeling this year than last year that TFC is probably Toronto's best chance of seeing playoffs in the fall.

Sometimes Kelly makes some good points. Sometimes he's funny.

The problem, when you know a bit about what he's writing, he's often full of shit. I remember when he wrote about the Euro Cup a few years ago. I barely knew Kelly at the time, and I was just happy that someone was writing about footy. At first I liked his articles -- some humour, some interesting insights. But then I started noticing things that were totally overdone or just plain wrong, and he started to piss me off. Too much cockiness, too full of himself, too little real research or insight. He just picks some narrative and goes with it whole hog. Like this article, where he gets Giovinco's salary totally wrong. (Difference between before tax/after tax salaries in Italy.) Also not true that Giovinco hasn't watched MLS before.

A few months ago, wasn't he on the opposite extreme, praising Leiweke effusively or something like that?

Kelly's article is full of half truths and outright lies.
He moved from the Star to the Globe, looks like he is on his way to the Sun.
(my opinion).
