The debate over an arena for D.C. United—with a proposed site cost of $300 million, it would be by far the most expensive soccer-specific stadium project in the country (http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/capitalbusiness/heres-what-other-cities-paid-for-their-major-league-soccer-stadiums/2013/08/23/d463c7c2-0c0b-11e3-9941-6711ed662e71_story.html)—has been long and contentious but stands on the verge of a major step: the approval of the Washington D.C. City Council. But the day before a study on the stadium was to be publicly released, the Council announced the report would be kept private and the hearing delayed until after Election Day. That's no accident.

The report has been finished for weeks, reports the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/report-to-dc-council-on-soccer-stadium-deal-is-delayed/2014/10/27/c3b7f882-5e1a-11e4-9f3a-7e28799e0549_story.html), and council members have seen it. But rather than release it last Tuesday—as scheduled—Council Chairman Phil Mendelson pushed back the release date until tomorrow morning, with a hearing to follow immediately.

From the live tweets, still lots of questions to be answered and I expect this be dragged out further.

It looks like the council is recommending they go ahead with the project. Maybe they'll finally have some forward momentum?

I'd love to get to DC with porter now flying direct but that present stadium is such a pit.
