Do or die. TFC must win this game to have any realistic chances of making the playoffs. (and hope for Philly to pound Columbus)

NY has not lost in Red Bull Arena in 9 games or something, and losing some guys to int call ups. Though Cahill has been a non factor this season. NY also has Peguy Luyindula suspended, who has been playing the #10 role.
NY defence is somewhat weak, with 2 CBs that are physical, but prone to bonehead mistakes. Think more experienced and better versions of Doneil Henrys. And GK Robles puts on a Jekyl and Hyde act. One moment of brilliance, combined with some terrible gaffs.
Stop Thierry Henry at all cost. Whoever is playing RB has to be really switched on as Henry likes to drift left and cut in. Any miscommunication in defence will leave Henry exploiting the space and he's deadly as a playmaker this season, as well scoring some key goals. Stop Henry, and Bradley Wright-Phillips has shitload of goals, but he needs like 3 good chances to put 1 away.
Pound NYRB midfield, which is weaker than TFC mid, and pray that Defoe doesn't miss sitters.

Come on you Reds

This match will be the defining moment as far as character on this squad. We'll see who really wants to be there.
I'm going to have to watch this one recorded late Saturday night, so, no internet etc for me until after I've viewed it.
I refuse to give up as long as there is a chance!!!

I wonder if Vanney is going to stick with usual 4-4-2 or try something different and more offensive minded approach to this game.

expect 4-4-2. too late to tinker with any other formation this late in the season. you need time to learn a new formation, esp after a short turnaround since wed

Let's hope they can all just "man up" and get it done Saturday, without any of that.

some intriguing facts
-NYRB is unbeaten in 9 at home and have won last 6 at Red Bull Arena.
-TFC has 1 win, 1 draw vs NYRB this season.
-all 3 TFC strikers, Gilberto, Defoe and Moore have scored against NYRB this season, with Defoe scoring a goal in each of the game vs NY.

Well I just came in from the fire to see Osorio's halftime interview. I had no intention of watching this at all but figured I'd boo the score. Once again, exactly as predicted. Zero surprise here.

I am done for this year. We will end up with 41 points, if we're lucky, and then we'll see what happens. If Vanney is brought back then I am done with season tix. Nelson would have got us nowhere as well but this is just hopeless. At least we could defend with Nelsen and would have lost 2-0 or so. You know, put up enough of a fight to make an excuse. We have no excuses now. We are pure shit. The end.

I'm calling 5-0 for New York tonight. And 5 years from now as well. TFC 2014 was simply meant to humble Tim Lieweke. I don't even know how to fix this. The Front Office, the Coaching, the Players, everything seems dysfunctional at best, cursed at worst. And a full reboot will mean just more of the same.

I can't even think is that maybe this is for the best because this year will have used up all possible remaining football goodwill among the casual Toronto fans and guaranteed that Season Ticket Sales will crater this year. I'd say we're going to see a fire sale of players in the off-season, with only Gilberto staying on as DP because he's the cheapest of the three.

Someone, ANYONE, needs to make a large tifo this week to unfurl at the Montreal game:

"We'll Make The Playoffs This Year. Write It Down." - Tim LIEweke

MLSE needs to be held accountable for what happened this year. But I doubt it. At least I have the Ottawa Fury to enjoy.

If it were that simple then Jason Kreis, Jay Heaps and Ben Olsen would all be unemployed right now.

It's how the team plays. They've been significantly more confident moving and controlling the ball with Vanney. But we still have some fundamental personnel and chemistry issues to bypass.

DeRo runs harder than guys 20 years younger...

Ha. Vanney's last game is this mess. But in closing I must say that Nelsen lost only 2 of his last 5 games.

And vanney got a win taken away from him which the mlast commissioner even said was a goal. So I'll add that it.

Again no defending vanney from me. I would prefer an experienced coach. No available then clearly make vanney interm. I'll give you the full data on Nelson tho since your memory seems a little foggy.

DeRo makes a bad pass, and then runs past a sulking Moore, multiple times, in trying to recover possession, as Moore continues to sulk.

He really is a useless slug; opportunistic would be an understatement, in describing the goals he's scored for us (I think ALL tap-ins). Has some nice link-up play, at times.. but is the definition of inconsistent. UGH!

This. He's lazy and doesn't contribute enough to give the other players as much shit as he does.

Defoe really couldn't give a shit less.

I know people love Osorio on here but physically, he's a playground player. Great dribbling, vision, some good short passes. But he has no physical presence, no ability to track a run because of his lack of pace. He's an offensive threat sometimes but his all around game isn't strong enough to be a starter.

Isn't that because he is right outta the playground. He can and should be developed based on his youthful skills.

So Olave can freely push Hagglund down in the box, twice, but contests a fifty fifty ball and gets a Red? No way.

Does seem strange. Officiating has been brutally insane all year tho. Not sure if it is the Canadian bias or something idk.

As much as Defoe may be a primadonna, the poor bastard gets ZERO service. Oduro's touch is brutal.

Theoretically if we tie Columbus at 46 points. Who has the tiebreaker?

It happens far too often. But if we did so much as graze someone from the opposing team...

In our first few seasons, when we were routinely getting twice as many fouls called as opponents, I'd have believed it. But this year we've had a fairly even go of it. THere's just a lot of really bad officiating in this league.

Oduro needs to go. I was optimistic when he arrived. But all he can offer is is speed. At least Jackson gives us the defence upside for example

I agree with you but I also agree with what was posted earlier, I don't think he gives a shit.what a horrible choice to spend big money. No commitment, injury prone.

2 year hiatus to stay out of the way of construction sounds good.

Or to install blue seats and forget this ever happened.

Yep agreed. Overall quality is so poor. No consistency except consistently bad.

Very unlikely it'll happen this season but I honestly think we can make the playoffs next year. We have a decent squad, but we need to get rid of the mid-season drama/distractions; the unhappy player/transfer rumours, the behind-the-scenes egos, the firing of yet another head coach (especially without replacing him properly), etc. Obviously a few pieces need to go and a few need to be introduced, but I think what really kills this club is the petty BS that happens off the pitch.

Well that's all she wrote folks. Never in a million years would I have imagined the season ending like this, especially after what was the most exciting offseason in 7 years. I'm truly speechless.
