What's up with that?

Honestly, how can someone be arrested for swearing in the south end?

That said, I don't think you mean fuck 114. The Ultras 114 brought heart and soul tonight and were loud and proud.

Really?

Then there would be hundreds of people arrested. It's stupid. Those people need to find tickets in a different part of the stadium.

NO i Dont mean the ultras. I bought my Brig Bruva shirt b4 the game and I sang my lungs off and so did the rest of 114. I'm talking about the soccer team that was behind me who informed the cops that I was drunk. Everytime I;d swear they'd say " OMG the second generation is behind you" Thanks to all the people that had my back.

Thanks guys. I'll admit I'm still drunk but honestly...I feel insulted when other people take it upon their own hands to insult me when I'm at a TFC game losing my lungs. I joined the march and all...bought the Big Bruv shirt...and went to have a good time and had it ruined by the end by a bunch of soccer moms at the tops.

After the game I stumbled across a buddy of mine who was also sitting in 114 (atleast that's what I remember him telling me....I was fuming at that time). He told me the same thing. It really boggles me why people haven't been able to figure out that the South End is not a place for a family picnic. We have played enough home games by now. Even the first timers know the reputation.

honestly man, don't take it too hard. It's not your fault that people want to be cheapskates and put their kids in the rowdy section without doing their homework

this is yet another reason for MLSE to get off their ass and re-establish the south end as SUPPORTER SECTION. This is proof that the south end isn't a supporter section, it's just a bunch of sections just so happen to be mostly full of supporters... Until these sitters, whiners, scalpers are removed, the south end is nothing more than just the cheap seats filled mostly by supporters... which is nonsense

We need a REAL supporter section, not this mockery of one now..

Also some people need to understand that a stadium is not a daycare... If you don't want your kid to hear cursing, they should be at home with a relative or babysitter watching Barney or Sesame Street...

This is a problem that's always coming up it seems. I've never had it asked to me, but I would simply respond by saying that's its called the Supporters Section for a reason.

If you want to bring kids to the game or any of your friends from work, go nuts! By all means sit down and read a paper if you want to. Here's the catch though - DON'T DO IT IN THE SOUTH END.

The guys that usually sit in front of me didn't get their Van or MTL tix....
so i had families in front of me shocked at the language.
Also, from time to time, older people by scalped seats and are crazily pissed off that they have to stand...

There should be a warning on the Tix.
There will be swearing
there will be flag waving
there will be standing.

GSTQ, I think I was right infront of you (114 - 18 - 27/28) with my gf the first half and my buddy the second half (him and his fiance had tix in 127, him and my gf traded tix midway), and I saw the cops come up and heckle you but I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I honestly swore my ass off last night and no one said anything to me. There was a nice dad behind me teaching his daughter the game and I actually felt really bad for him/her but he was cool with it all. The kids at the top just made me shake my head.

I wouldn't take it personally though to be honest; the coaches/parents of that team were probably just overly outraged at the sea of angry drunk people swearing and lashed out at the closest, loudest one.

People will eventually understand the stadium layout but it will come with more time and better education. I mean the odds are their ticket purchasing came like this:

"Hey lets take the girls to a TFC game!"
"Ok lets buy some tickets, let me call ticketmaster"
"Hello, Ticketmaster"
"Yes I'd like 15 tickets in the same section, cheapest possible plz"
"Ok done!"

The cops in that section know me (so does security) because I used to work there so once they seen it was me they just went back to doing what they do. When I went to grab another beer they told me how some lady had complained 5x to have me arrested for public intoxication. One cop said he was contemplating it, then the other dude who knew me said no fuckin way.

My whole issue as to why I'm pissed is because I don't get to see this team every week like most of you do. Al-MO was gracious enough to hook me up and I intended on going all out. I don't give a damn if the Supporters Section has kids or not...and yes I said FUCK every 2 secs. However, if you don't want to hear me cuss....go spend 70 and buy a ticket in 223 and fuck off.

"The Second Generation is behind you"......ya well they should join me in saying Fuck the Impact.

We've just got to keep up our game. Over time, the amount of people looking for tickets who don't know what the heck to expect in the south end will dwindle. We just have to make sure that every game, the people in the south end make that experience the one that we want to have.

No letting up.

I think that the problem is worse for the cup ties as there is a higher ratio of non STHs in the South stand.
All I can say is I was proud of my 11 and 8 year olds swearing their heads off in 112 last night...they both love the Workies' taunt of the keeper with" OOOohh TWAT. YOU'RE SHIT HA HA HA HA HA "

Seriously, the club needs to consider a "Viewer Discretion Advised" warning on tickets for 111 - 118 as we don't want to scare off the families but they should be warned what to expect.
The solution is to build a stand at the North End and include a Family section where you cannot buy STs or single seats without buying an eligible child ticket...but let's not open that particular chestnut on this thread eh...

I've had that happen too...and I am in row 17!

CityBoy is right on about the situation with fans when it comes to Cup Ties (I'll add friendlies and Wizards' games to that list); too many people that are unprepared for life in the South Stand. Its a real shame when the supporters are chastised by the casual fan for being supporters. Don't get me wrong...the casual fan who is willing to enjoy the atmosphere and be an active participant is good by me.

the problem is that TFC is not promoting the south end as the supporters section we we stand and chant and swear, scalpers are the other problem, they just want to sell their tickets, and it seems like they have a lot of tickets in the south end...i was hoping that during relocation that most of the families would move to the west or east but it does not appear as though that happened...

maybe they should remove the seats to get it across that this is a standing area only!

i noticed quite a lot of new people yesterday. nobody around my season's seats was a season ticket holder. a lot of people came late and had trouble finding their seats (with my dad yelling at them for being late.. hahah). and lots of people getting up and going for drinks/food multiple times during the game. This one dad went up and down our row 5 times during play and my dad made a sarcastic comment about him as he walked by. there were these stoned out dopes behind me too that kept saying the dumbest things. One guy goes: "Fuck dude, tell me about this wynne, guy." And Dude says "Man, he was a fuckin striker and they made him into a fuckin defender! He's fast dude! Fuck!" then they left for a good 20 minutes during play to get cash from the machine and two beers each.. by the time they get back it's like the 75th minute.
Then the guy goes "Fuck man, this is awesome, I'm getting season's tickets!! fuck!" I wanted to tell him he was a bit late at getting season's..
I don't mind their swearing but these guys were clueless dopes.

I agree 100%...see it all the time. Parents freaking out on supporters, while their kids are ignoring them and having a blast jumping and screaming.

What sticks in my mind is the 1st KC game where I was in 126. The oakville soccer moms weren't very happy, but the kids were having a blast.
One soccer mom was sitting there holding the food she bought for her kid yelling sit down at everyone. Sit Down!
Her kid was ignoring her and the nachos that were bought for him, standing on his seat, holding up his new scarf (which was the same size as him) and screaming and chanting this is our house.
While kid was having a blast, the over protective fun stealing mom was having blood pressure issues.
I bet on Monday at school the kid was telling his friends how much fun it was, while his mom at her yoga class was talking about what a terrible influence the standing loudmouth drunks were on her baby.

I've been living in this country for 14+ years and I'm still getting culture shocked?

Never mind that this incident happened in the south end, that is bad enough!.. You can get in trouble for swearing at a stadium during a football match? Holy - fuck!!.

Maybe it's because I was brought up in an open learning environment where my parents opted to let me learn without putting blinds in my eyes about stuff like "swearing" but , really, there are worse things that a kid can hear/see/do, why must we babysit kids (and the rest of the population for that matter) to this extend and treat them like they are retarded?

Well, those kids will be swearing on their own soon enough if they continue to watch how our boys play the game...

I'm in 105 and I was asked to sit down when I got up while we were pressing early in the match. There weren't many regulars around my area last night, but I wasn't asked again... I guess the dude got the idea when he saw that most of the others in the area were standing to show their support and maybe the fact that 2 guys a couple of rows down from me were yelling "Fuck Montreal! You Suck!" and flipping the bird at the Impact supporters every 10 seconds helped the guy clue into the fact that it isn't a family atmosphere at BMO. I was going to say something, but I held back because he had 2 kids with him and it was early yet.

Telling people not to swear in the south end is beyond stupid...for fuck sakes.
Hell, my boss took her neice (5 years old) and nephews to the match against San Jose and purposley bought seats in with the NEE so that they could experience what a Reds match is all about.

this is what i do like about them checking tickets. sometimes you get drunken cunts in your seats and their gang doesn't want to move. i mean, the problem can be solved pretty easily but you'd rather not have to deal with that at all in the first place. it doesn't put you in a good mood at the start of the match.

The funny thing is, this is true. I remember reading an Editoral in the paper one day about how they don't allow toy guns anymore and the cartoon had the phrases

"Wanna play Cowboys and Indians?"
"No, we're not allowed to. Toy guns depict violence"
"Okay, how about GTA?"

This society is fricking sad. The same people who would sue McDonalds cause they refuse to be parents and let their kid eat it because they whined and refuse to put their foot down. Kids know swear words by the time they are 8 with all the stuff they watch now.

Back to the topic at hand:

If you get harassed by the soccer moms or less than "enthusiastic" fans, just tell them straight up that you are a season ticket holder. They are a guest in your area and as such, must follow the rules set out for/by the section. If they don't like that, there are a bunch of seats in section 227 that has less swearing and is exactly the same price.

really, i think everybody has to keep in mind that we don't operate like a typical North American sports team in Toronto. Leafs/Raptors/and Jays don't have anything like this. supporters section is a completed foreign concept to those out of the loop, and its hardly their fault if they end up in a section that isn't 'family friendly'. really, its up to us to explain POLITELY what the score is in the south end. if they don't like that, they can go from there.

i'm saying its our responsibility since the powers that be don't seem to make an effort in explaining this.

None of this would happen, there would be no soccer moms, and no "half ass supporters" if the SG's were in charge of ticket distribution. I remember at the vancouver game, i was in 113, and there was a couple beside me who were not singing at all, and i thought wow, would these people be sitting here if U sector got to decide who sits in 113. TFC/MLSE need to smarten up.

supporters groups should NOT have control over seats thanks. there are alot of unafilliated supporters like myself that will get shafted if that happened. outiside of game day, its up to the powers-that-be to stop people who wouldn't like our sections, not us. if they don't want to do this, its their problem since alienating casuals will mean them not coming back.

There are many RPB's that sit outside the south end, and would love to move to the south end. It doesnt mean casuals would not come back, i think casuals would just be moved to the east or west stands

SG's should have control. If you sing they will let you in. It's not like their totalitarian or anything. :noidea:

but we aren't talking about casual season ticket holders. we are talking about casual one offs. those are the ones causing problems. if they aren't educated when purchasing tickets, we end up having to deal with it on game day. history has shown that some of us don't deal with it well since we expect everybody to know what we know.

if you demand that we sing at all times to be able to be in the south end, yes, you are being totalitarian. i think its moot since i don't see supporters groups getting that kind of control from MLSE.

That's what supporter groups and ultras are for. "Ultra" is latin for beyond. It's beyond normal fans. If you aren't into that then why be here? :noidea:

nope, what is being said is that supporters groups should have control over tickets. thats what is 'beyond'.

you cannot tell other people what to do at the game. i would love to hear more people sing, but i can't force this, and neither can anybody else here. taking control over tickets, then telling people what they have to do to either get these tickets, or keep them, goes 'beyond' any power a support group should have.

Funny that one of the most successful teams in the history of the league doesn't agree with that point of view.

(assuming you mean DC). i'm not a supporter of DC, so i don't really have an invested interest in what they do or how they organize. my concern is that i will lose out on the tickets i have in the South End because i refuse to follow the mantra of a supporters group. don't get me wrong, i am sort of being a devils advocate here since i do sing and have a good time. my concern is i shouldn't be forced too just to keep my seats. i got my tickets very early on, and probably before the majority of the people who post here. why should i have to justify to a supoprters group to keep thse tickets? thats why i'm against supporters groups having ticket control.

i wouldn't come to a supporters group forum and say something like i have said and not expect to have alot of people call me down for it :)

You need to add 110 and 127 to that. the Majority of the top half of 110 stand. Are flags allowed in 111?

Can you add 109? There are a few of us assholes at the top trying our hardest and a snot load of jam tarts down below more interested in watching the chants than watching the game. I brought my boy down to that shit show SJ game and had a tough time teaching him to curse properly! The easiest thing would be if RPB does get control of a section and let me trade up. I would hate to have my boy grow up without doing the TFC massive in his first french class.

No, of course not. And the bottom line is, it would be very difficult for the supporters to get control of their sections after the fact.

Maybe if they build a north stand and give us sections there...

But in the south the ship has sailed on this particular issue. We can only try to get as many supporters in by the means currently available to us. (and by supporters, I mean supporters, not members of any particular group)

i agree with you Jack, which is why i don't understand why supporter group control keeps coming up. i think its much better to continue to work with MLSE.

i think looking at the scalper issue is much more pressing, but that seems to be something those in charge don't want to mess with. thats the direction i would like to see the angry fists waved at.

I think the issue of control comes up out of frustration.

And believe me, the scalpers are huge issue with me.

Really? Does anyone have a link to this?

It's based on heresay really. A girl at work said she tried to buy (the cheapest) tickets which pointed her to the South End and there was a disclaimer.

It's the whole Air Canada Centre Syndrome, rich people expect to be able to come to games with their rich friends and sit anywhere they want. That sort of thing is causing a huge fuss over in Europe, fans aren't allowed to stand up anymore cause it might upset the "prawn sandwich brigade" as Fergie calls them.

Add 127 to it too... it's not in South end, but still exhibits all those characteristics

careful. i sat in 127, row 7 for the Vancouver game and apparantly the C word crosses the line. (so i was told after a Whitecaps player walked by and i greeted him.)
