That was interesting. A couple of points I would take from it and would have to think about:

On Moore replacing Wiedeman:
"Moore is clearly better. The question is whether he's enough better to justify the $30,000 increase on the salary cap."

We get way too hung on up on this "cap." And $30k.. is about 1% of the total budget. Let's not go too far down that road of playing fiscal managers, especially in this league of allocation money, in any amount, being made available for any reason if the MLS "Competition Committee" thinks it is a good idea.

What is a valid question is whether you can significantly improve a team trading players within MLS.

On Gale:
"Agbossoumonde was not in the plans. Getting anything for him was more production than they ever were going to get."

We give up way too easily on cutting young players. Agbossoumonde was 22. Joins a number of guys that TFC just writes off if they have no immediate impact or don't believe they will impact (eg. Plata, Silva, Cronin, Urutti, etc).

He may never have been in their long terms plans but is it too much to expect this organization to develop players?

I agree we do seem to give up on younger players early but that was also the previous regimes that did it.

Now I will say if you clearly can move a player for a upgrade especially a player that doesn't figure into plans or a position that you have too much depth in its worth the deal IMO.

We have plenty of coverage in the back the midfield is getting there and up too we needed a body especially if Defoe goes to Brazil.

We can also recall players from Wilmington if need be which is a bonus. Dare I say this is the most depth we've had in history?

You listed some pretty impactful players that were not only starters, but many people regarded as the future of the club pretty much on arrival.

On the flip side - I would lump Agboss with the group of players who really didn't have a strong future with the club (Gabe Gala, Danleigh Borman, Leandre Griffit, Both Ibrahim's, Joey melo...etc etc)

I wouldn't say it's easy to wait on a kid to perform to your expectations with a limited number of slots and a fanbase breathing down your neck. And that's leaving the chequesigners out of it...

We could build a long list though if we include young Canadians like Melo. You've got a long list of players that were brought in and waived after losing NCAA eligibility. That would be a big strike against the club attracting talented youth.

There is probably another category in there with players like Attakora, Barrett, Peterson.

Plus it's easier to keep the youth you think can move forward now with a developmental deal with Wilimgton. That is going to help a lot if we continue or even field our own D-2 team in the future.

Agboss was in a competition with Haggland and Orr and Richter for depth, and lost.

So, the 22 year old lost out to the wily veteran, the just as cheap guy who is 3 years older, and the top draft choice.

He is wanted by somebody. Hope he does ok.

He had potential, but we our back line is one of the only places where we have depth. Agboss was at the bottom of the pile, but still had value. It makes complete sense to move him for a foreward. We definitely need more depth there, especially when Defoe is gone for injuries/world cup.
