I want to be there again.

Not so quickly though. The game in LA a week later was even better. THEN it went to shit.

Well if we're gonna play this game, I'd say it was halftime in @ Santos where it THEN went to shit.

That skydome game was the best we had it. Yeah, they went to LA, and played in front of possibly 5,000 people at HDC. And they played 135 minutes against Santos.

But the atmosphere inside the dome was awesome. Everything was great about it. As close as we've ever come to the feeling you might imagine those 'European Nights' might feel.

.. and then the 2012 MLS campaign kicked off... but fuck that - this thread isn't about that. It's about this :

That CB pairing will give me nightmares again but it was a great game and a great CCL run... Hoping for more like it

Oh man. Atmosphere wise, it definitely was special (European night). 50,000 people supporting Toronto soccer team was historic moment in city sports landscape and soccer in this country. I personally don't think we will have those type of "European night" atmosphere during MLS league play (regular or playoff game). This game proves it's crowd that creates atmosphere not stadium.

That night was a big moment for me. I remember driving down to the game from London when I was in graduate school with three friends who'd never been to a game and a young guy I picked up along the way from these forums. We got stuck in four hour traffic and I just got into the stadium (while I had someone park my car) in the second minute. To this day I remember the incredible noise and atmosphere. I had goosebumps. To me, that day was proof that soccer can and will explode in this country. Just a matter of time.

And dear god the streamer show.

Lol i love how they handed us streamers and then waited till around the 60th minute to tell us not to throw them on the field. Gotta love home field advantage:D

Definitely a special atmosphere. I was on the front page of the Globe and Mail the next day, haha (along with many others).

I loved that game. I know there are people that hate on the Dome, but that night was special.

I remember when I got home after the game I was checking Big Soccer to see how the game played down there, and there was a thread titled something like "Are we going to act like Toronto didn't just have the greatest atmosphere in MLS of ALL TIME?!?!" I still occasionally watch crowd vids from the game and get goosebumps

I remember taking over the streets of the downtown and halting traffic and having the cops clear cars out of our way and the march being a lot of fun

right before halftime when S.L. made it 2-2... even though we had the lead on away goals at that point you knew we'd shit the bed. Conceding that goal in the last second of the first half killed us

Thanks Tobor for this thread.
Even though we did not like the Dome and the crappy pitch, WOW, what a great atmosphere and match!
Thanks for reminding us of those memories!

The only bad thing I will say about that night was the late goal we gave up. Classic Toronto.

^Since our first year i'd say TFC has been one of the best teams in the MLS.....for the first 80 minutes that is:D

Since we are talking about this, does anyone have a copy of the broadcast? I'd love to watch the whole thing again (or see what it was like on TV since I was there).

I like to think that goal lulled the Galaxy into a false sense of security. They knew they had the advantage going into the second leg in LA, even a 1-1 draw would've been enough for them. They probably would've come out with more focus if they were behind.

Still not quite right. It was 30 seconds before halftime of the Santos game!

I think the Frings ball with the Silva diving header is the best goal in TFC history.

very similar to weideman's rain game winning goal last year, in my opinion, but if you like the long distance passes like that how about Stefan Frei to Javier Martina in 2011?

better than the ryan johnson 35 yard blast against NYRB in 2012? or Alan Gordon game tying goal against LA in 2011?

i remember leaving that game and me and my buddy talked about how they should get rid of BMO and play every game in the SkyDome. Best TFC Atmosphere i have ever been a part of. 2nd for me would be the Columbus opener where we had the entire south stand I think it was 3000 away supporters that day was amazing until all the nonsense afterwards

All respectable choices.

Something about the aesthetics, and the importance of that game, make the Silva goal number one for me.

The Columbus opener I went to had plenty of pregame nonsense though...
