Vancouver vs. Toronto - May 14, Voyageurs Cup

Hats off to KidA for the work he's done (http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showthread.php?35196-Toronto-FC-vs-Seattle-March-15-Roadtrip) coordinating us in Seattle for the season opener.

I've been on the west coast since summer 2012, and last season at the opener at BC Place there were a few Toronto fans scattered around, but we didn't have a proper "away section". I've been in touch with Whitecaps ticketing to try and sort that out for the Canadian Championship 2nd leg in Van on May 14.

It's a Wednesday night, so we won't have the same travelling support from back home as the Seattle game will, but for those of us scattered around Vancouver and the Island it will be great to have another meetup.

They're setting aside a block of about 20-30 seats in section 217 to start with, and if we fill it out early enough, they'll expand it. Unlike the Seattle orders, you can just call and book your seats in our section (the earlier the better so we can fill it out).

Call Jamieson Brooks at Whitecaps ticketing - his direct line is 604 484 7867 - and ask about the Toronto away section. Feel free to drop my name (Scott Ferguson) if need be, I started things off with 2 tickets.

With a car? Won't be too difficult. An hour (tops) from Tsawassen and probably 35 mins from Horsehoe Bay (the terminal up on the North shore)

Without a car you'd want to look at Greyhound as they have several trips between Victoria and Vancouver which go through Tsawassen.

Just take the 620 bus from Tsawassen to Bridgeport station, then take the sky train towards Waterfront, BC Place is a pretty short walk from Yaletown Roundhouse station.

Let's scope something out to get a good base before the game. I think it was great choice to have somewhere before and after the game in Seattle so I'm sure the same could happen for Vancouver.

Yes, I do not recommend Doolins; surly bunch in there and that's just the staff !!. The Whitecap fans gather there and the food/beer is unremarkable. We would need a place that is not so dominant with their fans; they really don't like TO at all ...

I like Cinema at Granville/Smythe, but it's become a Curva Collective bar and could be an issue. What about that Arsenal bar down in Yaletown? The Phatter sports pub? I think nearly everywhere decent will be full of Caps fans, unless you want to go somewhere far from BC Place and transit our way down.

Agreed. Airport taxes in canada really kill flying long distances within the country. It's almost always cheaper to fly a longer distance to a foreign airport which is silly.

Alright boys, just talked to ticketing again, the "will call" booth at GATE H will be open from 6:15 PM until 20-30 mins after kickoff. So probably a good idea to get there a few minutes before kick-off (or earlier, if you're coming to Malone's after 6:20 or so) as there will be 20+ people getting their tix.

Malone's is the pre-game spot, I'll try to be there from 5:30 or hopefully earlier.

I asked about flags thinking we'd be good to bring them in, apparently it should've been cleared earlier with events staff (my bad for zoning out on it), so the advice was to try and bring it in but don't be surprised if BC Place tries to stop you/confiscate it. If it's a banner maybe it can be tucked away somewhere and hung when we get inside.
