Gilberto saying his objective is 25 goals does not make me feel good.

I don't think anything makes you feel good. The amount of money we spent, the players we got and what they say :smilielol5:

It is a bit wild, coming into a new league and setting a mark like that publically. Better off keeping your head down and just do it.

While I think his target is unrealistic, I don't have any problems with him exhibiting a bit of confidence. He hasn't played a minute in this league yet, and I think he'll find MLS is much different than Brazilian football, especially the defensive side of things, but if it helps spur him on, I'm OK with it. Nothing wrong with setting goals for yourself. It would have been much different had he come out and said "I'll score 25 goals this year".

True, I think I read it that way - the I will vs the I want to.

lol What's your magic number ensco? I know where your coming from but it is kind of funny. I want him to be confident...but not SILLY confident.

I'd hope he'd pick a higher number than average but saying 12,15 doesn't sound that impressive.

While I don't like proclamations, predictions, or chirping in the media - strikers need to be confident, arrogant, cocky and at times completely selfish...

This shows all of the above...

In the future, tell your girlfriend, your Mom, your buds, or the chick you're wheeling at the bar this & leave the media out of it - that is, until you score number 26, then tell the world "...I told this hottie brunette I'd score 25 this year, number 26 was for her sister :yum:..."

Carts...

I am not being grumpy. I want players who are winners. Watch Drogba and Henry, they would never do this.

I'd like him to not talk about his personal goal total. Doubly so in a league he knows diddly about, with a new team.

Has he even met Defoe, Dike, Dero? Does he care what they think of him? Does it bother him that he's just putting pressure on Nelsen to make him the featured striker?

Someone who speaks Portuguese can ask him those questions.

There's no way that he'll score 25 goals, but I'm glad that's what he expects of himself...if his goal was pot 7 or 8 it might be realistic it wouldn't exactly reflect well on him. It's better to aim high and fail than to set your sights low.

Dero scored 17 goals back in 2010 when he played in 39 games altogether. Gilberto could get more than 40 games in with league, playoffs, and CCL, so 20-25 goals is still a pretty high mark but definitely not impossible
