I remember the days when I hoped that the Academies and reserves would be strong enough to play their own season. Ah well, that's NA for you. Welcome pseudo-farm team Wilmington. I sure did like the Carolinas when I went to watch TFC there.

Looked at Wilmington's website, looks like they draw a very good and enthusiastic crowd for a D-3 team. I guess we now have our own USL club to follow!:drum:

So in essence we just made a pact with the Charleston Battery's closest rivals. Well, I'll always remember the SC trips fondly. They treated us well.

I was always holding on to hope that we would do the partnership with Charlston.

Hopefully we can do a long term deal after this 1 year with Willmington.

Forget a long term deal... Hopefully we can start our own team!

It would be great to have complete control developing players from the youngest ages of the Academy, right up through and to a lower level senior team, and eventually to TFC.

With the potential talent pool in Ontario, and TFC expanding its academy to more age levels, the supply of players should be there.

If it's going to take another couple years to get off the ground, we could extend the Hammerhead deal on a year-by-year basis.
But I don't think the goal should be to extend it long-term.

TFC should co-opt the USL PDL team in London as their new USL PRO franchise and ignore the inevitable bleating from the CSA. London is far enough away from Toronto that it can become the focal point for soccer in SW Ontario. After reading the latest CSA strategic plan, spouting "risk management" and "long-term viability", they obviously aren't even thinking of establishing Canadian regional leagues anytime in the future. They should just let the Canadian MLS clubs do whatever they want with their academies, as that's the only way we're going to get any clear development path.
