Toronto FC gets Orr-nery

This makes me cringe.

And just to be 'That Guy' : it's imminent, not immanent.

That's just horrible for a newspaper that doesn't get handed out for free on buses.

The stories from that paper do get chopped and put into a paper handed out for free on buses (24 Hours) though.

I find the Sun has some of the worst editing I've seen in a major publication.
Some articles are just downright embarrassing!

They got rid of their proofreaders several years ago. I'm not kidding.

I hate that there is little to no value put on copy editing/proofreading.

This is one of my favourite things ever: http://torontoist.com/2009/11/disgruntled_star_editor_takes_revenge/.

I love how the Torontoist headline italicizes STAR.

The Sun realized long ago that no one reads their paper, just look at the adds and sunshine girl

I don't know why people get so hung up on this. MLS is investing $100m more than their revenue on a yearly basis. Giving the stadiums, academies etc and that the league is in its infancy I expected it to be more. None of that is $ they will never get back - as franchise values are rising sharply - but the statement rings true.

The books are closed, and all their media/marketing revenue is separated under another company.

Basically, anything they say with regards to their finances is bullshit.

MLS and players union are in negotiations this year for a new contract, so of course they are losing money. Except they won't open their books to prove it of course.

They don't include TV revenue (which is booked under SUM). They artificially manipulate depreciation figures on their stadiums. You can't believe anything that they say. No one would spend up to $100 million on a franchise in order to lose money.
