Thanks for posting -it's an interesting read. It was touched on a bit in that article, but assuming that our front two are Gilberto and Dafoe, who's going to create the chances that these guys hope to finish? I read elsewhere that the plan is probably to play a 4-4-1-1 formation with Gilberto being the withdrawn striker, but if his passing isn't that great then I'm not sure if that makes sense - especially without a real creative force in the midfield. I realize that there is plenty of time left to find someone who can get forward and distribute the ball, but it's slightly worrisome that we haven't (or at least I haven't) even heard any rumours about who that player might be....all we can say for certain is that he isn't on the team now.

^ this has been my feeling too.

Management is doing about the only thing it can, trying to buy immediate improvement and then supplement that with discarded contracts from MLS' signed player pool.

This organization is not (yet) Sporting KC. It does not have a strong Academy program to draw, it still trades from a position of weakness with the Canadian International rule nor has our scouting been world renowned in terms of player identification. They deserve praise for at least trying to exploit the only competitive advantage they currently have.

Obvious optimism.

At the same time, on paper, is the Gilberto-DeFoe-Laba combination that much more exciting than the Koevermans-Frings-Johnson/Silva projections were before injury? Koevermans was arguably the amongst the most prolific "converters of chances" that has ever played in the MLS.

Unfortunately, injuries will continue to be the cloud that hovers over any hope of a playoff chance. Ideally, a new formation can emerge that fits the strengths of the assembled players and Tim B can use his knowledge of contracts to do a much better job of securing available players from MLS' signed pool of players.

Regarding Gilberto, his career has been on an upward trajectory in terms of production. Last season might have been a blip on the radar, but it could also have been a breakout year. His age suggests that the latter is more likely than the former. Time will tell.

I VERY much look forward to continuing my tradition. .
Betting on the OVER.
2 shots on goal for the first half. .
The prize, a pint at half time.

I lost every game except 2 this year. . .

SHOTS ON GOAL!

Toronto FC’s strikers last season put in a combined 14 goals. They also collectively managed to register just 1.3 shots per game,
