Five teams and we get one home game. I dislike. Very boring.

We will get a second home game in the final against Mtl and then all the home games in the Champs League. I look very much forward to having the Voyageurs Cup back where it belongs....

Yeah, really. So far the only teams with more than 1 home game are Ottawa and Edmonton since they have the preliminary round to see who qualifies, so no reason to panic just yet.

That's a great start for Ottawa to jump right into the fire. Home and home with Edmonton and then if they win, they get to play against Montreal - who will likely bring a ton of travelling support.

Though I'd feel bad for Edmonton to go winless, again.

I have to agree that the format is far from awe inspiring. I just hope it gets better with a few more teams.

I don't think it's that bad to be honest.

Assuming TFC make it to the finals, I'd rather have the 2nd leg at home instead of the opening one.

Still wish it was a round robin tourney though, but alas it's not. Hopefully with another 2 teams it might end up being a group stage qualification.

The more, the merrier. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the preliminary round of the Cup, if Ottawa can pull off the upset against Edmonton to make things interesting.

V Cup will be in current format until at least 2015

The optomist in me interpreted it as they could do the early stages of the 2016 VCup in summer/fall of 2015 for the lower leagues and then have the upper league teams join in the spring (as they do now) in 2016. All it really takes is co-ordinating the lower leagues for qualification to play and moving to an 8 team cup, which only adds one more game home and away to the current structure.

TFC
Impact
Whitecaps
Edmonton
Ottawa
East Regional Champion
Central Regional Champion
West Regional Champion

3 rounds gets you a VCup Champions. As for costs, I'm sure some type of gate sharing formula could be put in place to help with that. Or they can do something like the USOC route and go to a one game elimination, but the upper team can 'pay off' the lower team to host the game instead.

Looks like Vancouver have quite a few academy players on their roster.
