I have to agree, the focus is all wrong - We simply don't have the financial means or infrastructure to host. Co-host, maybe.

We need to get our player development in order first.

Never mind co-hosting. That only makes the travel worse. Let's focus on kids tourneys, the girls and the GOLD CUP. Once we can handle those let's talk. We should have a different team by then.

What's the worse money pit event, the Olympics or World Cup?

I think you have two barriers that keeps Canada from hosting a WC. What do you do with the stadiums after the event is over, especially when you look at a country like South Africa that hosted & now has big stadiums that sit empty. The second is soccer in this country being in shambles at this point, we are at our lowest form of all time. I would want to see improvement from Canadian soccer in all aspects before I consider hosting a WC. I have no interest in watching our national team get their asses kicked because the only reason they are in the WC is that they are hosting. Make a world cup or hell, compete more on a regular basis.

Honestly I don't have interest in a joint bid. If you are going to do the event then host or don't bother. I'm sure the U.S & Mexico, who have the infrastructure to host aren't going to be interested in a joint bid with anyone anyways.

The only way I could see Canada hosting this is if they build modular stadiums that would normally seat 20-35K spectators with the ability to expand with temporary stands up to 40K-70K for special events (like the World Cup or Grey Cup). If the interior of each stadium is identical with just the outside of each stadium being individualized (to optimize costs), I think we might be able to do it.
