Pretty interesting race going on to see who even makes the playoffs. 3-4 games left for most teams, and a lot of teams in danger of not making the playoffs. As of right now, KC is 2nd in the East, but only 6 pts ahead of 6th place Philly. Montreal is 4 pts ahead of Philly, and has suffered drastic loss of form... Like I predicted at the beginning of season that old geezers in Mtl will eventually slow down with fatigue and injuries as the season goes on, and so will Mtl's form.

And Vancouver has been sucking ever since Camilo loss his form. Also very tight in the West, with 8 teams still in playoff hunt.

Ah, parity. Never boring

Montreal at LA now. Critical game for both teams. If either teams win, they get a little breathing room for playoff spot. A loss would hurt a lot

They really don't seem to care that much in LA.

Seems like a waste of a good franchise.

Stadium location probably has something to do with it. Plus the university limits attendance for midweek games.

But yeah, it really makes you realize how few consistently good markets there are in MLS. It shows how much further we have to go if NY and LA with their marquee names and top teams can't fill their great stadiums.

Montreal looks awful. Midfield is totally clueless. Where's Felipe?

Di Vaio getting frustrated with his teammates.

Yeah guys, it's funny how the markets with the pull that LA and NY have around the world seem to care the least especially when they have players like Henry, Cahil, Keane, and Donavan.

I think you're missing my point, on the best of days, these teams (NY and LA) pale in comparison for passionate fans compared to several other smaller market teams that would kill for these types of players.

The irony being that most of these world class players have to be convinced to go to any MLS market other than NY or LA.

Red4ever

Not saying I ever want to see us lose a match, but man oh man.

If we happen to lose to Chicago and beat Montreal, and therefore have the chance, first hand, to take in the beauty of their epic collapse while sticking the final fork in their poutine... it would be on par with the feeling of avoiding relegation; I imagine.

Phil
10-17-2013, 09:33 AM
So if Montreal beat Philly and we beat Chicago, Montreal would be in and the last game would have influence on home field advantage.

However if we don't win and Philly come up with a respectable game....could really make that last game intense.

Just looking at past results an form it's tough to think that the LIMPACT will get anything out of Philly. Both teams fighting there way into the playoffs and results lately if have to give the advantage to Philly.

Hopefully all the cards fall in the right spots and we really have a chance to screw Montreal. Not only to screw them but to have some big time stakes on our last game.

Yah I mean I don't that anyone here takes it as an ideal situation, but to screw Montreal over would be up there with BMO memories. I don't want to get too ahead of myself.

New England have home and homes with CBUS and with 6 points, might be able to do some damage.

Ya I'm so exciting for our great team can't wait for next Saturday's game versus Montreal so much to play for in that game, one of the biggest games in TFC history people. After 7 season's of MLS play this is suppose to get me excited and get me to the stadium what a load of crap, I have season tickets and have not been to a game since July and my two season tickets have not beed used by anybody since July I can't get anyone to take them off of me for free and they will most likely not be used this Saturday either for this "big game". Seven years in this league and this game is suppose to get me excited, ya ok!

Great atmosphere in New Jersey at Red Bull Arena the place is rocking good to see the New York area finally coming out and bringing the support the Red Bulls should having been getting from the first day this beautiful soccer stadium opened. For my money Red Bull Arena and Kansas City's stadiums are the best by far in the league it's not even up for discussion. Furthermore, of course the Red Bulls want this game, with a win they win the Supporters Shield, their first ever trophy since New York got into MLS and they would get the MLS Cup in their own stadium at Red Bull Arena were they to make it to the final, the MLS Cup.

That and there are historically good reasons not to describe us as Orange in a Toronto vs. French speaking people way. That was I am sure unintentional but insensitive. For those who don't know, Google the Orange Order. No way I would ever want to be associated with them.

Definitely. For those saying that French isn't a race, we must remember that the whole concept of race is socially constructed - there are no biological basis (thus, it's impossible to say that is a race, that isn't a race - race as an idea first emerged in 16th-17th century Europe to describe working-class people as biologically different from the bourgeois). While the French aren't often considered a race, they are conceptualized as such by this sorta language, and certainly were understood as such in Canada historically. .... long story short, it's besides the point whether you believe the French are a race or not, to point a finger at an entire group of people in such a manner 'creates race' and is an act of racism..

And while I doubt anyone is intentionally associating us with the Orange Order, fuck the Orange Order.

The lack of knowledge from commentators sometimes for MLS is shocking.

You'd think after a long career in the premier league Keller would realize that when someone goes in two footed and takes out a players standing leg it warrants a yellow card.

Yeah, the TSN crew said he leads the league in offside calls which sounds about right, lol. All they do is have him sit on the line and poach. Edit: check this out: http://www.thescore.com/mls/player_splits/offsides?view_type=expanded talk about being off! He nearly has double second place.

Two major problems for Montreal: 1) old legs in midfield 2) nobody outside of Mapp and Di Vaio that contribute offensively. Andrew Wenger is painful to watch.

And after that performance I think we can successfully argue that the Limpacts still haven't played in a playoff game.

Jesus, that was sad. Official attendance is just over 10,000, lowest in Houston for the season. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL MLS THAT MOM-AND-POP marketing doesn't work, and kid ticket giveaways just give an artificially inflated idea of how a team is doing. Now you know how many hardcores there are in Houston.

On what grounds? They were utterly dominated. As for the second point, you don't think 10,000 for a playoff game is a bad turnout? Or you don't associate it with it being Hallowe'en tonight? If your crowd base is dominated by small children, which night are you likeliest to get the smallest crowd of your entire season?

No, I'd say both pretty justified.

Maybe. They warn of floods all across East Texas about a hundred times a year, and yesterdays' weather problems in Houston were in the morning, not at night. The later flash flood warnings didn't include Harris county, where the stadium is and where they have a drawing population just in the metro area of 2.2 million, so ... 10,000? No, that's pretty sad.

rain, short notice (as most wildcard games are), along with the fact that it's on halloween.
for example, take every single person here who'd attend games that has kids, and cancel them right the fuck out.

i agree that it looks bad on the league, but it's completely understandable.

also, found this kicking around r/MLS from an impact supporter:

If I was an Impact supporter I would have serious questions about how the club finished the season (1 win in the last 8 games of the regular season and only 5 points - If I heard the announcer correctly). Complete contrast to how they finished last season. I still don't think they should have fired Marsch. I guess the true test will be to see how they perform next season. Also, the end of that game was an embarrassment (no need to get chippy in a game in which you were completely outplayed).

Luckily, I am a TFC supporter so I have bigger worries :D

I am no impact fan, but playoffs are playoffs even if its a play-in game. If TFC was in that position I'd still take it to the bank and call it a successful season.

As for the crowd, definitely disappointing but I've seen enough out of Houston in the past to say they have respectable support. Someone mentioned rain, but I think a few other things would have gone wrong as well. The fans there do normally turn out in numbers for MLS playoffs.
