TFC have an extra man for more than an hour against an absolutely awful Chivas team.

Not only do they fail to get the win but they fail to even get a draw conceding in the 79th minute.

That leads me to this question....

What will happen first, TFC make the playoffs or Canada making the World Cup?

TFC will have 4 cracks at making the playoffs for every one chance Canada has at making the World Cup.

Using Ryan Nelsen's logic (it was harder to play against Chivas when they went down a player), I'll choose Canada.

TFC making the playoffs. Because they'll fold or be moved long before Canada makes a World Cup if they stay on their current trajectory.

I thought maybe it was a poll like "Nelsen resigns" or "Payne leaves"

I picked Canada in the WC because I'd much rather see that and it's something that has actually happened in my life time.

As a Cubs fan, TFC is more likely to win. The Cubs are just doomed.

TFC make the playoffs easy. In MLS it's an easy thing to do unless your us so you'd have to figure with the laws of averages and all that it'd have to happen sometime. Leafs won't win a cup in my lifetime and I doubt Canada will qualify for the world cup until 2022 at best. Even then with the maturing of our young talent we'll probably find a way to fuck it up. Plus some CONCACAF minnows are suddenly looking a lot better. We won't be dancing through that preliminary qualifying like last time.

The Shitecraps and L'impact will be facing off for the MLS Cup before Toronto FC makes the playoffs. :banghead:

Law of averages also says sometime in the last frikken calendar YEAR they would have won at home (*BMO*) for the poor sods still going every game.

The Law of averages has f***** us too.

Option 4 for me.

+1

Although, there should have been one for 'Lynx get promoted and TFC gets relegated' <- preferable outcome IMO

i think we've been up a man twice and nelsen was disappointed with that both times. probably because he has no idea how to run offense and it becomes painfully apparent when up a man.

Is it bad that I find this hilarious?

I agree with previous statement that tanking for Wiggins will be the best option for Toronto sports.

Easy for everybody else in the league. I believe after this year we'll be the only team never to qualify.

Serious answer? TFC will make the playoffs first. Of course they will.

Simply making the post-season doesn't require MLSE to put together a behemoth of a team - it just requires them to stumble into one proficient enough to limp across the finish line with enough points. It seems impossible based on our history, but it will happen.

Especially with the way we swap new pieces in and out of our roster at a blistering pace - we are bound to ventually slap together the right tetris pieces to clear a line or two.

I'd also point out that, despite this team's bungling for years, we managed to miss out on the playoffs, on the last game of the season a few years ago (that brutal 4-0 loss to New York).

Should give some perspective on how steep (or not) a climb it is, to slap together a team decent enough to earn a post-season berth.

that team wasn't even that good either. Dero was the difference maker, Guevara was hit and miss but had good experience. White and Barrett up front some games? (I'd take Earnshaw and Brockie any day over those two!). It just goes to prove that you don't really need too many new pieces to turn a bad team into one close to the play offs.

If TFC doesn't change course yet again, TFC should make the playoffs first.
