TORONTO — With his usual target men either injured or firing blanks, Toronto FC head coach John Carver will again look far down his bench to the bright eyes and skinny legs of 16-year-old Abdus Ibrahim for some firepower against the San Jose Earthquakes today at BMO Field.
"He's very intelligent and his movement is very good, but it is really his movement off the ball that's his greatest attribute," Carver said.

Beckham says MLS is better than
people think
While the quality of play in the MLS is better than people think, David Beckham said Friday that he believes it will take time to catch up to some of the world's better leagues.
Beckham said that he is enjoying his first full season with the Los Angeles Galaxy, noting that he had a tough time adjusting last year after arriving in the middle of the season and having to battle an assortment of injuries.

Toronto FC ready to rumble with Earthquakes
Wins and goals have been pretty hard to come by for Toronto FC over the last month.
The Canadian club is mired in a seven-game winless streak (three Major League Soccer regular-season games, two international friendlies and two Canadian Champions League contests) and hasn’t registered a victory in more than a month.

Star striker says BMO turf prevented him from signing
DEAN MCNULTY (dean.mcnulty@sunmedia.ca), SUN MEDIA
Former English Premiership star at Norwich City and current San Jose Earthquakes striker Darren Huckerby warned Toronto FC bosses yesterday that until the club switches to real grass at BMO Stadium, players of his stature will continue to take a pass. The 32-year-old Huckerby said he came tantalizingly close to signing with TFC just last week, but the thought of both playing and practising on Field Turf at BMO was the deal breaker that sent him to San Jose.
