Only printed jersey I have is Dunny, will be wearing it on Saturday in DC.

I hope the spot he frees up was worth it.

AGAIN : waiving a player does not get you their cap hit back.

People following this team much longer than me should know this by now.

Considering the fact that some rules seem to change on a daily basis and some teams don't have to follow other certain rules, I denounce and reject your comment, kind sir.

I sport my Dunfield 23 with pride every game day. Sad day for me. What he lacked in skill he complimented with heart and spirit. But the writing was on the wall - especially considering he couldn't even get into the reserve game last week. Good luck Terry.

The look of pure joy after he scored against Vancouver in stoppage time.

Combine dunfield's heart with some actual skill and you get unstoppable players

Not sure I like this move. Dunfield is a player that can be relied upon when needed and brings veteran leadership in the locker room. I wish him well.

I don't know if you're right on this. From the roster rules:

(A) WAIVERS
Teams may waive players based on performance at any time during the MLS season. Players with guaranteed contracts will continue to have their salary budget charge applied to the team salary budget, subject to any settlement. Players on semi-guaranteed contracts can be waived prior to July 1 of any year and free up the corresponding budget space. If a player on a semi-guaranteed contract is waived after July 1, his salary budget charge will count against the team’s salary budget and the team waiving the player will not receive a replacement except under the normal player acquisition mechanisms. Any settlement amount will be charged to the team’s salary budget.

Haha I'm with Brooker. I'll sit back and let you guys figure it out and see if the MLS decides to change the rule after that.g:D

He tried real hard. And when he scored, it was like watching a kid at Christmas.

Terry Dunfield Appreciation Thread guys...

Always loved your hardworking attitude and commitment to the team you are playing for Terry. Best of luck.

I bash your on/off ball decisions from time to time, yet I've never bashed your passion and the ability to disrupt opponent's flow. I wish you can still be part of TFC to be the specialist in situations to break up plays and add a spark here and there.

All the best.

I heard that he was going to retire due to injury. Not the most skilled, but always played with heart. His effort will be missed.

I was not much of a fan of what he brought to the team, but I have to say after some time I saw that he played a useful role. And what we can't deny is that he was passionate about the team and wanted to do well for it. Definitely one of the more hardworking players to don the strip.

I can't see why we would waive him if we didn't get the cap space back. As a domestic, there is nothing else to be gained (unless we are up against total number of players on the roster or something)

Not a good move. They should offer Dunfield a FO job or hire him as a scout.

Terry always left everything on the pitch for this club, and I will remember him for his unquestionable work ethic as opposed to being miscast as a starter.

many know my feelings towards the guy, i thought he took a lot of flack for still being considered one of "mariners guys", but he gave it all everytime he stepped on the pitch.. even if the result wasn't always what we wanted. he would consistently be one of the guys on the field who would give it all each game, and we've gone through too many players not to appreciate that kind of work ethic.

good luck to him wherever he lands.

For a club that has seen a revolving door of personnel, of which many left only an impression of indifference, Terri’s passion for the crest was something I appreciated. I never felt cheated by his effort and have no doubt he gave us his all. His play last year was one of the few positive memories of the Mariner era. Very personable guy who had plenty of time to chat with fans at TFC functions. Also appreciate his dedication to the National team, definitely not a Canadian of convenience…if only all players who wore red had his heart…

Thanks Terry and best of luck going forward!

Well since everyone's talking about it.. Hands down one of the best goal celebrations I've ever seen. Love you he almost pulls off his jersey, and then remembers he's already on a yellow!!

Well Terry I am sorry to see it end this way for your time at TFC.
But if you bring your sense of "give it all" and teamwork to whatever you decide to do next I am confident you will be a success.
Best of luck in whatever you choose to do from here on out.

So, I expect him here only for a few games.

What is it reasonable to expect from him?

How is his Italian?

I don’t know. I question how much latitude Bill has left. Dunny could be keeping the seat warm longer than Perez.

From the new CP article:

“Former Canadian international Terry Dunfield has four games to prove to the Toronto FC brass he is worthy of becoming the soccer team's permanent head coach.

TFC president Bill Manning and newly promoted general manager Jason Hernandez already have a shortlist of coaching candidates they will ask for permission to interview. Manning said they want to make their hire "fairly quickly."

…. “Dunfield spent 10 hours later Monday afternoon and evening talking to TFC staff and players. On Tuesday, he met with the players as a group before undergoing video and on-field training sessions.

Dunfield, whose team is seven points out of the playoffs, relayed his players want "tactical clarity."

"We went out and, with all that information, had a really good training session," Dunfield said. "That was a ton of fun. The energy was great.”

Watched his interview. Nothing jumped out at me that he would be suited for the long haul. Nothing personal against him. I just can't picture him taking full charge of the dressing room.

I dunno… he gives me kind of a calm Schmetzer sort of vibe. I’m sort of a fan of quiet calm managers these days.

He's actually grown into quite a good coach at the lower level. Don't go by the goofy picture of him from a decade ago or how he was as a player. A lot of good managers were mediocre players back in the day.
