Tough to make an argument that we have all stars. It's a surprise when any member of our squad has a good performance much less one we can deem exceptional league-wide.

The fact he's out this long, injuring himself while celebrating a goal - just adds more to the 'curse' theory...

I've heard he re-tore his hamstring? Sounds like he's done

That makes me very, very sad.

Ya last I heard from the boys here was "...he's nowhere close to coming back..."

Injuries suck but are part of the game - injury happening celebrating a goal? Well if that's not a kick in the nuts I don't know what is... :(

Unfortunate way for Ecks to get injured but I would almost say at this point it's time to move on. Even if he heals up he will never be the same player after two tears.

Terrible news regarding Ecks...

I very much doubt he's "done". He's young, and normally very fit. A player like him can come back from a torn hammy very easily. We also don't know the extent of the tear (partial, full) so we can't jump to conclusions about the length of lay-off for him. Sounds like he came back too quickly from the first tear and re-aggravated it. Given rest time and time for it to heal, he will be fine.

Yeah I would say if they have reasonable doubt on their medical team it may be time to let him go. Big cap hit for a guy on the mend all year and we could really use that to add more players. Feel terrible saying it cause I like the guy but sometimes it is just the way it happens. If they think though that he could come back strong next year I would want to hold onto him. He just may need to renegotiate that cap hit though...

Even though I feel Ecks is way overpaid, I still hope Ecks is back next season. He's still good enough to contribute and plus he will be consider a domestic player for us (I believe he qualifies for PR)

About Koevermans, I have my doubts he can get it done. I'm not sure what Koevermans meant when he said that the next game was on turf so he wouldnt play, but if youre only going to play games where there's no artificial turf, that pretty much reduces his impact on the team.

Considering he's a DP and the team is desperate, I would think the coaching staff would want him in every game. Otherwise, he needs to be dumped immidiately, because a DP only playing games he wants to play doesnt sit well in the locker room. Maybe if you're Alessandro Nesta, but a 1 cap international like Koevermans, not a chance.

He was talking about the last reserve game on friday. It was on turf. Its fairly standard for guys returning from an ACL tear to take some time before playing on turf. Not a big deal.

You clearly don't know the roster rules at all:

(D) BUYOUT OF GUARANTEED CONTRACT
Teams may have the ability to buyout one guaranteed player as follows:

A Team may buy out one (1) guaranteed player (including a DP’s) contract during the off-season and free up the corresponding budget space. Such a buyout is at the particular MLS Team’s own expense.
A Team may not free up budget space with a buyout of a player’s salary budget charge during the season. Such a buyout will be conducted by the League and count on a Club’s budget in a manner consistent with current MLS guidelines.

Is there not a long term injury spot (s) that we could use? For some reason I remember us using this in the past... or I may be out to lunch on that

I agree. I love the guy would love to see him back. But if he isn't anywhere near 110% an there's any doubt in our medical staff (starting to think there is with keeping Koevs off plastic) then it's best to just either part ways or renegotiate his contract to a manageable cap hit.

How long do you think he'll need for something like that? I'd say at least a month off, then he needs time to get back into fitness.

I don't see him coming back until August - by then, TFC will be out of playoff contention. He'll be back in time for the season ticket renewal push portion of the season. In my eyes, that's the part of the year no one cares about - so he's "done" for anything meaningful. :P
