Regarding the attack: Ephraim seems much more natural on the wing. Bostock, in my opinion, should be in the centre. When my father saw him play for Swindon a couple of months ago, he said he was the central attacking midfielder and controlled the game and played very well. We need to get Bostock involved more, and he will naturally have more ball in the centre. He doesn't seem to be the type of player to go and collect the ball, which you do more often on the wing (at least move off the ball and find the space). Just swapping Bostock and Ephraim's position might be a big help, especially if they are more natural in both positions.

I do get confused how we deploy players...Ecks going on the left, Russel is a attacking mid that we put at right back and now this whole Bostock and Ephraim thing. Its good to see them slot some of these players back into proven roles but its a noticable trend.

So who is fixing our "sticky" pitch? Is that what we get for $3 million or whatever they paid for it? They need to fix it if our own players are having a hard time. The pitch has received the same review after each game so far. They need to sort it out. Maybe the drainage issue they fixed is working too well and drying the pitch out...I don't know just a guess.

Remember that at the end of the season last year they replaced the undersoil and put down a new pitch. It needs to settle and be worked on some more for sure, but its not the same grass or ground underneath it as last year.

From what I can tell, the grass looks a few millimeters too long. The ball just dies when you play it on the ground and sometimes it gets caught up the feet of the players. This should be pretty easy to sort out if that's the case.

Honestly, it looks like we're playing on field turf every home game. The pitch looks beautiful, but maybe a little TOO beautiful. The amount of times the ball gets caught up in the player's feet is embarrassing.

It would work well for a kick and run strategy. Too bad we're not implementing that this year.

After 4 months of constant snow, I'm not surprised the field is not immaculate.

At least it's not Vancouver's pitch.

It makes me nervous; there's a certain overconfident arrogance in trying to retrain a grown man at the one thing he's done for years.

But there's a method to the madness. To me, it's because they don't see Silva as an outside player, but as a constant goal-scoring threat. He really does have the skillset to be a top attacking midfielder in this league, ala Higuain and DeRo. Bostock and Ephraim, they're not even sure if they'll be here.

So while Silva was out, they slotted in Ephraim in his spot to keep him on the field, expecting he would outperform Reggie Lambe even in that role. They can then move Ephraim into Reggie's spot and open up Silva's best location, behind the striker. In the meantime, they know we need someone else who can shoot from around the edge of the box and set up others going forward, so they put Bostock -- who only has a left foot -- on the right side, as an "inside forward" style midfielder who cuts inside every time. That's why he never crosses; it's not his role and would be on his wrong foot. (He also has a hell of a shot, although we haven't seen it yet. He's shown a lot of technique, but not much bravery yet. He maybe wants to be the puppetmaster/zidane style technical wizard too much, when we really need him to play like luis, and get stuck in while going forward.)

Thats the one thing that irritates me when I watch the Whitecaps. It just looks ugly, but they got no choice, they have to water the plastic and rubber pellets. LOL.

I have to agree Bostock does look like he would be better suited as a striker rather than a right winger, but I think the reason for using Bostock and Russell on the right side is for defensive reasons as well as the stability they bring. IMO, Nelsen is building stability from the back to front. He's building the team mentality that is involved in defending as a group.
