She can join the club. Half the Voyageurs (Canada support) are complaining about the same thing. No one prefers turf to play on if they have a choice. I wonder what they're playing the PAN-AM games on. They'll be going on around the same time as that tourney....

^I wonder, where in Canada might there be a grass field?

Now that we see what is going on with the tickets to that friendly in June, it bugs me even more that none of these games are here.

I have always been of the mind that within MLS, any team can win any game. .
Even though it is clear there are 3 levels of quality.
Elite, Executive, and then the grinders. . . (like us)

string a couple of results together, particularly in the play offs and you can be Champions.

Anyone have an input on that?

Tonight I'm submitting the list of names to the company that makes our membership cards. If you haven't renewed, your name will not be on a card this year. And please note, the change in membership status will be happening shortly!

Yep and that Men's friendly in Edmonton in May, the Gold Cup in July on the west coast...Earliest we'll see a Men's friendly here would be late summer/early fall. The discussion on "Our National Stadium" will not be going away anytime soon.

BTW ensco, I'll have tickets pre-game Sat. for the Women's friendly. They are going fast in 112.

Thanks. I am bringing my wife and kids, and they'd be spectators in 112. Need to find some seats elsewhere. I'm assuming that a lot of the seats that went to teams are not that sticky and will be kicking around in due course. Not sure though.

Abby Wambach, has some manly qualities to her. So does her teammate Hope Solo. IMO, this is just her roid rage acting up, she won't be available for the next World Cup. She's too much of a reckless player to last another 2 years.

I don't disagree at all, first if BMO is the National Soccer Stadium should it not be a host venue?

Second the Girls deserve to be able to play on Grass, and if Canada wasn't willing to put in Grass for the few weeks of the competition then they shouldn't have been awarded the event...

As much as I want the girls playing here, this is silly.

Actually the Classy thing to do would be for the ownership groups of the three MLS teams to get togeather and toss in 3 million each for Grass at the Big O, BC place, and Frank Claire or Commonwealth.

It be good PR, be good for the girls, and might help embarrass FIFA and the CSA a little.

I agree that the event should have never been awarded to Canada with turf fields. Nobody likes to play on them. I don't want to see the girls playing on it the same as with MLS. I don't think MLS teams will throw money at grass for this when they don't even do that for their own teams. This comes down to the City of Toronto not being interested in hosting the event as well. With a little pressure they may have been able to make it work in BMO Field for alot of the games and rely less on the turf fields but FIFA obviously never really pushed for it so will be hard to change things now I would think. The hosting cities should look into doing it if not already and get their own corporate support. I doubt anything will come from MLS teams.

The real letdown for me is how Toronto played this. We won the bid to host the Pan Am Games and "The City" wants to spotlight it. I get that. But there's no leg to stand on when you award Hamilton (congrats btw) the soccer events. BMO probably won't be idle but to let not one but two opportunities to highlight the game in your city's soccer specific stadium, compounded with the fact it's one of the few in the country, is a mistake.

Is Hamilton getting ALL the soccer events? I thought the reason why Toronto was not getting any of the WWC games was that we were hosting the Pan AM games which start 5 days after the Women's World Cup is done. Could you imagine the state of the pitch at BMO after all that activity, as well as our boys playing the odd home game there?

I have already started planning my summer of 2015, travelling across Canada ... avoiding the madness that will be Toronto with the Pan Am games ... :-)

Good stuff! So you're going to catch some of the WWC?

The latest news I've heard was that Hamilton won all the soccer events and for that reason will get funding for a new stadium (hopefully). The person running the whole soccer shebang for the Pan am is someone who's been around all the Toronto/Canada footy boards and I wish him well. I hope he doesn't mind me mentioning him but I'll just say I'm rooting for him and I hope it all goes smooth. I'll just say he's the biggest Miltown fan I know. Congrats, man!
