I really wish the team would give up on what they owe fans. If they aren't willing to win for themselves and each other, then it really doesn't matter much.

Just play, be competitive and win more than you lose. Please.

I'd also like to see more ambition.
like, go out there do you very best so you can take pride in your work, for yourself, for your team mates.
We all know what accomplishing something at our job can do for your motivation and self esteem.

Forget abotu winning, just do your very best, stay focussed, put in the sweat. .

. . . and if at all possible score in every home game.

should we sign this guy:

Just a reminder that you can renew your membership online, or for any new members, a great spot to talk to people about membership is at Shoeless Joes on Saturday! Just be there more than an hour before the game, because we shut down at an hour to go so that we can put our stuff away and make it to the stadium!

And we've got one spot left open for someone to hold the flags at our Player Escort day! Again, members only, kids 10-14 old!

Any info on what the MLSE press conference is for today? Its live on GOLTV. Is it just an update on the new ownership?

Probably the closest most MLS players will ever get to it. :D

from a different perspective, i see nothing wrong with the team feeling a debt is owed to supporters ... you know its not something we are asking for, it is coming from the team ... but it validates our efforts really, and if our efforts inspire the players and motivate the team to play their best and be that competitive team, then it can only be a good thing. And if the team finds success this year, it may motivate us as supporters to ramp up our game too. Symbiotic relationship building.

^ I agree with Lobo. Our sole job is to support this team. If they want to validate our efforts by playing for us or even just paying the lip service to say 'thank you,we owe you one' I am all for it.

The fan-player relationship is symbiotic, but at the heart of it, if they don't want to win for themselves and their teammates, the results inevitably won't be there. Much of the reason we haven't had much success thus far is because we had so many players who simply didn't give a shit, and/or saw this team as a nice swansong in N. America while getting a hefty paycheck (too numerous to name, won't focus on any particular one). But the sense I'm getting so far is that Nelsen is building a squad that not only will give their all every match, but would go through a brick wall for each other. With that kind of mentality, the results will come, and as a result, the fans will be rewarded.

Especially since the supporters have truly been the only positive constant that this club can point to. But don't talk about it, show it. Work hard and work smart and the fans will feel better about the team and feel validated.

I am not sure why talking about it implies that they won't want to win for themselves or the club; or why they shouldn't talk about winning for the fans. So long as they win who gives a fuck what motivates them. Do you think they will lose if they talk about winning for the fans? None of this makes any sense to me.

Completely agree. Gives them a little extra something as well as playing for the coach and themselves and teammates. We don't need to be told that there playing for us. We should bring it 90 mins every game anyways. Don't need to be told that there playing for us. But it is nice to hear atleast there seems to be a overall agreement in the locker room. Alot better than past years.

Because this fan base has heard 7 years worth of cliches and rhetoric. With very few results. No progress in the league. Who and whatever motivates them doesn't matter at all. I agree. Actions speak louder than words.

Progress in play on the field and in the standings is all that matters. Nelsen is saying all the right things, and i believe what he says and support him. I believe the organization is indebted to the fans. But nothing other than tangible results matter now.

I'd rather see them come to the corner after a game to acknowledge our efforts than see it used as a comment for the media. Which they have done more this year than in the past.
