Ok so I just got an email from TFC and was one of the lucky people to get invited to the Real Sports Bar "Why Not Grab A Bud" Pre Game Party on Saturday.

In the email it explains that ppl at the event will be leaving the bar and marching from Maple Leafs Square to Rogers Centre at 12:30pm

Looks like this march will be going on at the same time as the Rally/March at Simcoe Park and Front Street with the rest of the supporters.

Thoughts?

My thoughts: Screw the plastic corporate march and join the real supporters.

My thoughts are: yes, that's what it looks like like, and that's the way it will be. Already discussed in the other thread BTW.

Supporters groups do marches better. But seeing as how they plan on leaving at the same time, I imagine we'll get one huge mass heading down to RC anyway.

aah there's nothing like marching through traffic stared at by bemused drivers, remember being in Shoeless Joes at King & Simcoe on CCL semi-final night as the mob went past, that was something special

And what makes it a plastic march? The fact that everyone in there won tickets from a beer company? And what sort of person would enter a contest to win tickets to a Toronto FC game, after 6 years of abject failure? Oh, I guess people who like Toronto FC! Personally, I don't appreciate being called 'plastic' for not participating in red patch boys sanctioned events. Fandom relates to backing the team, not an arbitrary group who chose to show their support in specific ways

edit: not to say there's anything wrong with RPB, but just because I chose not to be a part of RPB (or Usec or any of the others), doesn't mean I'm a 'plastic' fan.

Some people seem to think / choose to think, that if the team or FO sets something up its "fake" or "plastic"... I have NO IDEA why they think that way...

A supporters group is not for everyone - but that doesn't mean, if someone goes to a FO started event to show their support their not passionate about the club, or want to urge them on, see them win, be there when they lose...

Think about a father with a 7-8-9 year old son - the TFC march and pre-game is probably a little more appropriate for them (due to language, atmosphere etc), that doesn't mean that the father or son don't love TFC as much as a member of a supporters group...

Don't worry about the chirps - show your support for TFC the way you want - b/c showing that support all comes through to the lads on the pitch...

Carts...

Feel free to experience a different flavour. You're welcome anytime. Some are just extremely proud of what we all can do together.

We should not view one as plastic and one as real. We should focus on bringing the two marches together = then you have one massive march. :)

Not a priority. There's a reason for the 2 being separate apparent in this thread. I think the best approach is live and let live on this one.

I believe that all for-profit corporations are evil and therefore anything they organize with their name attached to it is 'plastic'.

Like it or don't like it I don't care.

That being said, if you want to be a part of the corporate event I sincerely hope you enjoy yourself. As has been mentioned above not every event is for everyone.

I prefer events organized by the people.

Oh shit my post pissed off some people. The Plastic March is gunna suck compared to supporters march. supporters march is the way to go I'm just sad I can't be in 2 places at once.

As to the guy that said it was already posted blah blah, yeah no shit. I was just wondering about people's thoughts on the subject. Isn't that what forums are for?

Can't we all just get along! Lol

Nothing can compare to last years march from Crocodile Rock escorted by Toronto's finest down busy streets! Ahhhh

Ok we'll I'm glad ppl are responding/sounding off. See you all on Sat!

For one thing, it's no surprise to anyone who has frequented this board over the last few years that the FO was more than happy to "use" the supporters groups to advance their own aims (generating a buzz around an expansion club, in order to sell out stadiums, in order to maximize revenues, etc.). Anyways, I'm not getting into that stuff here - it's been discussed perpetually on here for the last 6 years. But honestly, if marches (and not just before the first game of the season) weren't something the SGs had been doing, would TFC had come up with this initiative on its own? I just think that's why some people on here MIGHT take the piss out of that idea. Not to mention that I myself personally think it's a joke that Real Sports have any involvement in this, since they have shown nothing but disdain to us on certain occasions where we wanted to watch TFC matches there. They will never again get any business from me, insofar as TFC is involved.

not authentic...my problem is, there will be lots of camera's shooting film there, which bud can use in commercials etc...if you want to promote bud, that's your choice though

bud is going to use the march as a way of promoting their beer though..would you want your face bing part of their promotion? my answer is no thanks

plastic fans = fake fans who root for winning clubs. TFC isn't a winning club. So it's hard to label any TFC fan as plastic.

Also be aware, the rogers centre gives you your beer in cans in the stands so if you want why not discreetly pack some of your own.

lol, i can't wait for saturday, but who cares about which march you attend, its all about what happens in the stadium and i sure hope that the chants gets louder and louder showing the new players and "part-time" fans this shit is real and this team isnt some ordinary retirement league team, there are fucking die-heart fans for this team!!! See how we're showing our passion in the rpb forums by arguing and shit, show it on Saturday!

Sorry, I was not clear with my post. I want to take advantage of the two free tickets and bring more people. My intention was to pick them up because I need to do that in person and then go join the group for the RPB march. I was just trying to confirm that there were tickets involved before I said anything.

And my apologies to you. I thought you were being sarcastic in pointing out that the Supporters March was not giving away two free tickets. Plus I was feeling a little goofy yesterday. I hope you get some free tickets and join our march. Have a good one!

As a follower of no one I will be marching on my own. The Subway will be involved and perhaps a cab ride. I will also be attending the game in a plain red jacket with no bank logo on it. Cheers! Onwards!

Free Beer yes please
