.... the Reds announced five more additions to the roster. Welsh international striker Robert Earnshaw, 31, who just arrived in Toronto late Tuesday, headlined the group, which also includes forwards Ashton Bennett, 24, and Taylor Morgan, 22, and midfielders Jonathan Osorio, 20, and Darel Russell, 32, all of whom have been with the club through training camp.

More additions are expected in the coming days, with a young, unnamed Argentine striker as a designated player and a pair of Honduras atop the list.....

I'm going to have a hard time knowing who is who while watching the game today.

We're trying to adopt a strategy of not getting married to players until we really understand what they're about and what they're about in our league. There's been plenty of great players who've been successful in other leagues, but they may not be the right fit for our league. Unfortunately, you don't always know that until they play in our league," Payne said.

From the Molinaro article. Strange. Which of the new guys are loan deals and which are full year signings? I'm confused.

Also....I think Molinaro is bang on with his assessment of how bad things could turn out for us this year.

It's all well and good that many of the hardcore supporters are preaching patience for the new regime....but the casuals (who make up the vast majority of the asses in the seats at BMO) won't be patient at all.

If this team starts the season really poorly, like many expect them to, I'd wager that BMO will be 1/4 full by the time the summer rolls around.

People will not be spending their summer evenings enduring more garbage from TFC. The lustre is gone. And if they continue to suck you can chalk TFC up as a Toronto sports scene and MLS overall afterthought and laughing stock.

And oh boy if the Jays do as well as many are thinking they might AND TFC continue to suck.

I fear that tonight marks the start of a long, long, torturous season.

I think it's expected that TFC will endure serious growing pains this season, but the key to placating the fan base will be demonstrating tangible progress throughout the campaign. If TFC is out of the playoff race within a month but string together some positive results in the second half of the season, I think most fans will be forgiving.

yeah, it could get very gloomy this season, however, considering just how much money MLSE has sunk into TFC (pitch, training facility, academy...), its not quite make or break for the franchise, which is the impression i got from John's article. i think crowds will return...when the investment seems worthy.

Well then I really hope those types of casuals & fans stay away from BMO field and off this board. At this point, I really don't give a shit. Just count on TFC losing the first 15 games straight. If folks can't handle that, maybe they should take a break right now, save themselves the grief, and check back in the summer or next year. The Blue Jays should be fun, maybe that's the right venue for them. For once we've got a proper structure and management in place. If folks can't just chill out, expect the least, and hope for the best, then I expect this season will be no good for them. The only thing that will make me go postal is people start freaking out every time we don't have a perfect game, & if MLSE make more knee-jerk BS changes in 6 months or a year.

Hogan Ephraim is on loan. I believe the two Hondurans & the Argentinian they are also trying to get on loan, to see how things work out in Canada & the MLS. I believe the other guys are signed, and are better known to the team. (I.e., either they've been with TFC for most of the pre-season; or Nelsen knows them.) We haven't heard anything about the length of their contracts.

i kind of agree with your sentiment but thing that worries me is that I've heard before that we had the right people in charge and that we should be patient. I feel like I've heard that before and I just don't know if I can trust them carte Blanche anymore.

ill wait to see how we play, in terms of style to determine my take on the future.
