Thats for everything Plata.
As I have learned from thsi forum, yes he did provide for TFC, but his $$ can be better spent.

my expectations have ALWAYS been the same.
Score in every home game, win, lose or draw. . .
I am concerned as to who is going to do that scoring. . . .

Payne wants a young DP... that's very interesting.

I'm out of the loop, but don't we have Hassli, Koevermans, and Frings... 3 DP's? Am I misunderstanding what Payne means?

TFC's Frei: "If you want beautiful soccer, go to a circus" (http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/626772054?-19896:6206)

I hate this line. What does it even mean? Do they have soccer at a circus? And since when does beautiful soccer = losing games? We've had shit football at BMO for years and endless defeats. Maybe it's time to play more skilled, focused soccer, so we can actually WIN once in a while.

^ The silly thing is, Frei didn't even say that. They just combined two different quotes and came up with it.

we are allowed a young dp on top of the 3
not sure details but its kind of like generation adidas where we can pay more but only so much counts against cap

no formal announcement about this new 'young DP' thing has been made, so I'd wait out

Haha I noticed exactly the same thing. Talk about desperate journalists looking for an extra click.

On an unrelated note, it looks like KP just called our some of our DPs on their fitness levels (from twitter)

I don't think he was talking about the DP's specifically. Just "some of the guys" on the team. It's in the CP/Neil Davidson article at the G&M link above. Lots of goodies in there.

His concern about the DPs: the 3 of them, plus Ecks & O'Dea, eat up a "very very very large portion of the salary cap."

Payne also mentioned that he has received no explanation why Hassli was resigned so shortly before Payne was hired.

I think we're in worst position than we were under Mo. The decisions for player personnel under Mariner, Cochrane and Winter were shocking.

It's just all of Gerry Dobson's tweets from Payne's meeting with Journo's earlier today.

I'm worried that Califf won't lose the 30 lbs that he needs to lose in time for opening game.

I don't know how a guy can show up to preseason that fat.

This is easily the fattest I have ever seen a player at TFC preseason.

^ I don't want to call those guys big-boned (because they were also out of shape) but I think part of it was a different build. Both were a little more stalky.

We've seen Califf in game form before, and my god this is quite a dramatic difference.

this globe and mail article..? oh man! Payne is the man! he's talking about focusing on attacking youth, and questioning the expense accrued to 3 dps and 2 defenders. he's let 11 people go, talks about more signings. questions age and salary, which is a huge issue with tfc. theres nothing wrong with julio cesar because he was a major component of kc's success. he didnt coast and he didnt want free lunches. and if kevin could have said it, he would. theres a few players on this team, who took the big pay cheque and arent healthy, arent attacking but line up every week for the free lunches. him and nelson talking about fitness in florida man this is the most exciting article on TFC ever!!! pass the kool-aid!

I would love to see the names, maybe they need a public shaming. Pathetic a proffesional cant be fit unless injuries are a problem.

Not to defend players conduct....but you know it wasn't too long ago that players were expected to not stay fit in the off season - to give their bodies a rest. The pre-season was suppose to get them back into shape. I remember Brennan and Dichio lamenting the cardio drills in pre-season because they were so out of shape.

Just saying.

Just saying. How come this isn't an issue in other sports leagues? A lot of players tend to workout their game during the off-season. It seems like this doesn't apply to MLS? It shows these guys don't take their jobs as seriously compare to other athletes. Too bad clubs can't fine players showing up out of shape.

Well i guess that depends on the your deffintion of "fit". Yes the off season is for rest and healing, match fittness should be not expected at pre-season. However im thinking this goes beyond just fitness, maybe a lack in desire to train skills or even follow off season routines to improve there game.

Of course I don't except them to be midseason fit on day one in training camp, but at least take some effort of being in decent shape during the off-season. Don't these players work on their game during the off-season? Don't TFC set up some sort of workout/eating plan for players for off-season? It seems so unprofessional for players showing up way out of shape which can hurt team's training camp plans since they have to focus more on fitness than tactics.
