It's not the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, it's the 3 Degrees of TFC... maybe even 2 Degrees.

It's also funny when you consider how people often post that this and that TFC player are crap, would never find a spot on any other MLS team, etc. Including guys like Gargan, Harden, Barrett, Avila, and Santos (chosen in the first re-entry draft at full price).

I think the problems more often with TFC are that guys are starting who should only be backups; that guys have often been over-paid; that we've had lots of expensive injured guys (which is not just due to bad luck); and that specific players are over-hyped, leading to disappointment (like Dunfield, Wiedeman, and many others).

I feel bad for the one current TFC player not picked up in the re-entry draft, Adrian Cann, considering also how hard he worked to return from knee injury. If I look at some of the guys that were selected, I can't help thinking that Cann was screwed because he's Canadian. Seems like a decent backup CB for some team, but US teams won't want to use an international spot on a guy who is 32 and just came back from knee injury. And TFC won't want a 32-year-old backup CB, not when they have Califf at age 32; plus other worries due to the age of Koevermans, Frings, etc. I wonder what Adrian will do next?

I don't understand why we don't sign him up as a backup. Reduce his pay, and use him incase of injury. He has proven he is still capable of defending in this league, so why not keep Him on the cheap (can probably get a good deal since he knows only Tor Van and Mtl will take him)

This may yet happen now that he is a free agent.

I think it will be time for Adrian to move down a notch to NASL. I'm sure Edmonton would love to have him.

Really, it's damning to our coaching staff more than anything else. I can't say people are completely wrong, for the roles those players were given on our team, they were crap. When they played for other teams and succeeded, they were ultimately tasked with something less (or more reasonable) than what TFC was asking. Nothing wrong with that, but really I don't have a problem with people having a go at what some of these guys offered. But where the "everyone is crap" goggles have to come off is when we start talking about these guys as squad players who provide depth. With the exception of Harden - who is just off the rails with injuries, I'd take any of the guys above as depth.

The ironic part is - all those guys played lesser roles on other teams prior to TFC - we make the mistake of asking them too much and everyone ends up thinking they are crap. Management clearly just didn't understand what a good MLS player was and what could be expected of the players we brought in.
