View Full Version : July 23 All-Star Party - I Suspect Sales Not Going Well

TFC just blasted this out - they are releasing some All-Star tickets but only as part of a package to buy $150 p.p. tickets for the July 23 party.

Between the league games, CCL games, the all-star game and the Canada-Jamaica game, I think there may be fatigue in the hardcore soccer market. Plus $150 is a lot for a ticket to anything.

Hi there xxxxxx, Last minute ticket packages are being released for the 2008 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game, and we want to give you the opportunity to buy them before they are available to the public.
The package includes a ticket for:

Official Player’s Party: Wednesday, July 23rd at 9:00 p.m. at Muzik.
2008 Pepsi All-Star Game: Thursday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. at BMO Field - MLS All Stars vs. West Ham United (English Premier League)

Don’t miss your chance to party with the players, and then watch them play in the All-Star Game! Ticket packages are available from $192 and your exclusive pre-sale opportunity starts on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. Call 416-360 GOAL (4625) to buy tickets. Any remaining packages will be released for public sale on Friday July 18th.

The Official MLS All-Star Players’ Party, sponsored by Smirnoff, is being billed as the hottest ticket in Toronto this summer. It's your chance to join the All-Stars and West Ham United players and coaches, at one of Toronto’s ultimate club destinations MUZIK, located on the grounds of Exhibition Place.
Featuring international cuisine to honour MLS All-Stars opponents, and savoury items representing the North American clubs of MLS, the evening will be full of music, food, and fun. If you've already got a ticket for the game, you can still buy tickets for the Player's Party. They're available now through ticketmaster.ca. (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:ol%28%27http://mlsefans.com/index.cfm?n35167s1731c1526029t1740o17053%27%29;)

The players party is not being targeted to the everyday footy fan, it is a corporate event, a place to be seen, I am going because I just thought to have a great time, I want to experience the All-Star week to the max, so with this, the game and the DeRo party Thursday night, I am looking forward to it, but I can see how some true soccer/footy supporters would not be interested in this, especially at 150 a pop.

Hello, I was wondering who is going to buy All-Star game ticket packages, if you do not already have an All-Star game ticket already it is a pretty good deal $192, With the MLS All-Star Players party being a $150 ticket you are getting the All-Star game for $42, which is face for the southend. It is nice to see that they are not milking the demand for All-Star game tickets by adding in a bunch of stuff and inflating the price.

If I can get a ticket for the game for $30 I will be thrilled.

I have no interest in a 'players party' though.

I will never pay $150 to stand around some semi-famous footballers and a bunch of MLS execs. Just not my cup of tea.

All of the available tickets that MLS is giving back to TFC, are tied to the party in this package deal.

Which is frustrating. Because I'd like to go to the game, but can't go to the party at all... and cannot justify spending $200 on a ticket.

Well, If the RPB elect me to go ahead and attend the party on behalf of the group... as a representative to be seen of course... I would gladly go for the group! =P

Not in your front office Paul, but six years of sports experience in the front office of a few teams, I know some of the tatics of how tickets have been sold.

Sell the party ticket on the board, I am sure you would be able to find someone who would take it off your hands.

I don't want to see ever back here - let alone 15 years. At best, it's a glorified friendly. As with a bunch of other things with the MLS, the All Star Game should be relegated to the trash bin and then actually bring in relegation - if the MLS wants to be taken more seriously.

Hello mr k

Your probably right. On the other hand it can only raise interest, awareness and excitement for the sport. After all, alot of other major league sport teams do it.
