Soccer threatens NHL?

I know believe that Gary Bettman was a spy sent by the NBA to keep the NHL from becoming competition.

Soccer threatens NHL?

In the US, soccer will likely surpass the NHL in the next decade or so. In Canada, not so much.

Gerard Butler stars in Playing for Keeps, where he plays an ex Celtic and DC United player trying to be an ESPN analyst while getting hit on by Jessica Biel, Catherine Zeta Jones and Uma Thurman. Yes. Soccer moms!

Romantic comedy, but I still think it's cool that an MLS team gets mentions like this.

MLS first kick set 2 March 2013. It's a Saturday.

Imagine Toronto at Montreal at the Big O for the first game...

I think it will be 2 US teams. The US ratings are important.

^ We could run parallel though i bet. Probably wouldn't be telecast in the US, but it might be the Canadian equivalent on TSN or something like that.

I guess. But one does get bored of Portland/Seattle/NY/LA in every First Kick match.

You want a spectacle? How about a sold out Big O with thousands of away supporters?

That is fucked. I'd like to know how no one managed to step in in time. Those kids should be banned from football.

well that's a given, but as minors how long would they be in jail?

That's the thing - probably not long enough, if at all, and at 15-16 you know what you're doing...

In Canada we'd probably give them 2-years off school, time at home, mandatory hugs from Mom, and automatic acceptance to University with free tuition...

"Canada incarcerates more convicted youth than almost any similarly industrialized country."

And many of these other countries do a better job at keeping youths out of trouble in the first place; and avoiding recidivism among those that do get into trouble.
