When asked to identify the new face of a post-Beckham MLS, Garber countered with an alternative vision. "We did not make David the face of the league. The public and the media did," he stated. "What we are eager to do now is have the teams and the supporters movements be MLS' face. It is our incredible supporter culture -- the atmosphere in our stadia -- that sets us apart. We did not have that culture in 2007. Now we do. Our fans will be the new David Beckham."

There are a lot of out of shape drunks at BMO and quite a few missing chromosomes in Columbus and Montreal to say the least. We're the new stars? No wonder MLSE lowered ticket prices.

Time to dust off my boots.

Well if it wasn't him and MLS that made Beckham the face of the league he certainly put the onus on supporters this upcoming season. The league best be prepared for more interaction than ever before. Otherwise, it's a simple question from the league asking support "What can you do for us" until they think lines are crossed.

A greater transparency and understanding league-wide will be necessary since he's basically challenging support to grow this year.
