I know this is a bit off-topic, but has anyone heard any news about the new Ontario based D3 league called League One Ontario?

Last on that I heard was they were trying to put the inaugural season together for this past summer but have to wait till this coming summer. Fingers very much crossed.

It's not active yet. Here's info on it:

My favourite part:
"Each member team shall have access, at the time designated for home games, to a stadium
which has permanent seating for paying spectators."

So no more fiasco's like the joke that Downsview is.

The CSL should adopt that rule to force TFC to move back to Lamport where they belong.

Or put in some seating at Downsview. I can certainly understand TFCA wanting to play at Downsview considering that that is where they are based and coming all the way down to Lamport through traffic from Downsivew has to be a supreme hassle.

Getting to Downsview is a supreme hassle. Finding it is difficult. If you are not driving it is about a 20 minute walk from the bus stop into the park.

I realize that TFC give less than a shit about the fans of their CSL team or for the CSL in general, but I do not think it would kill them to either give us a seat or move it somewhere where we can watch matches with a) seats, b) a level pitch (it is really bumpy up there) or c) with lights on for the night games.

Unless that changes I look forward to picking a League 1 Ontario team to support.

I think this will be a good idea regardless. Until they fix the CSL it's hard to justify throwing any pittance at them. League 1 wants to do it right.

This was reported in the Sun this past summer about Downsview. But I have yet to see anything that would resemble it on site.

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/05/29/tfc-high-on-new-facility

"THE LOWDOWNToronto FC’s soon to be sparkling new Kia Training Ground projects to be a state-of-the-art facility the envy of soccer clubs across North America.
Some facts and figures:
Cost: $21 million
Size: 40,000 square foot field house. 14 acres.
Pitches: 7; Three full-size grass, four artificial, two with air-supported bubbles for year-round use. One stadium field with seating for 1,000."

One stadium field with seating for 1,000."

I had heard that as well, but then also heard about a month or so ago that it was a long way off, if it ever happens. I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed. They certainly have not started building yet.

Precisely...but I cannot find anything that is less than several months old.

I hope this hasn't fallen apart.

I talked to Paul Beirne at the fan showing of the TFCA he said the seating will go in, However it will be the field turf stadium with lights on the TFCA grounds.

The CSL won't be around for too long anyways. The CSA is currently in review stage of a proposed Professional 2nd level league. The league will be just below MLS standard to put it on par with USL/NASL. If the proposal goes forward it will give an opportunity for a lot of cities to participate in a formal Level 2 professional league. My faith in this is currently low though. If this does not go forward then I've been working on a plan at the Provincial level but I have to wait for CSA to complete it's study and not go forward for any other plans to be presented.

1. then we have to pay to go to TFC academy games
2. Downsview is suppose to (eventually) have seating for 1000 (i see this was covered now)

I'd gladly pay 5-10 bucks to go back to having fun at Lamport the way we did those last couple of years. Gladly.
