Brennan's elevation to all-star team overshadows TFC loss

Morgan Campbell
Sports Reporter

Pessimists who follow Toronto FC will point out that last night's 1-0 loss to Argentine club Independiente means TFC is winless in more than a month.
The optimists will tell you the match was a meaningless exhibition played by backups, and expect a full-strength TFC squad to host San Jose Saturday night.

TFC edged at home

PETER MALLETT
TORONTO — Argentina first division side Independiente defeated Toronto FC 1-0 on a second-half goal by striker Pablo Vitti in a tightly contested international friendly at BMO Field last night.
The decisive goal came on a 35-yard free kick by forward Ismael Sosa from the left of the Toronto penalty area. Sosa's pass arched into the six-yard box and was volleyed home by Vitti in the 68th minute, giving the visitors from Buenos Aires the only goal of the game.

Rookie solid in defeat for Toronto FC
Mark Masters, National Post Published: Wednesday, July 16, 2008

TORONTO - Of all the players who took the pitch last night at BMO Field, it is 16-year-old Abdus Ibrahim who may have felt the greatest pressure.
Sure the match between Toronto FC and Independiente, a club team from Argentina, was labelled an exhibition, but the game still represented the first start in the rookie forward's career.

I hate to defend the National Post, but Ibby didn't start against Shitcago he came on with Ricketts in the second half for Julius James and Smith. Hopefully he'll start a few more. :)

My bad, the Pachuca game was not on tv or online so in my books "it didn't happen" lol, thanks for the correction though, it felt weird defending the Post.

Nope. they're remaining pretty tight-lipped about it. I do know Dickov is back in the U.K. - read into that whatever you want.

I know we're not supposed to link to the National Post, but they have this feature in the Arts and Life section where someone keeps a diary and this week it's me. And today's entry is about TFC. I kept the diary back in June.

Today's entry is here (http://www.nationalpost.com/related/links/story.html?id=657026).

They only give you 250 words an entry.

LMAO ... I thought you made that up! But that's actually what they put at the end of the article to promote tomorrow's post!

By the way - Nice 250 word snippet on our beloved TFC! :canada:

I was a little surprised to see that's how they promoted tomorrow's entry. It's actually about doing research online. Grow ops make up a big part of the plot in my book, but they could have also mentioned the website about rating "escorts," that would have been pretty funny, too.
