I wonder if this is why he had said what he allegedly said last game. If he knew, he would have been in a very stressful situation, and then got heckled by home fans. Would have been rough, but he still should have been more professional.

everything last game was in-line with his traits and what we've come to expect from him though, so..

Heart-wrenching, to say the least. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

I wonder if, in his pride, Mariner's defiant side took over.. as the results would say he was fighting a losing battle, mirroring the situation with his father; to give up would represent losing his father (psychologically).

This was always a likely contributing factor in his poor managerial tenure and things might take a turn for the better, after he's had the off-season to grieve and return that much stronger. Although, it's fair to note that there is still much to be done, through the bulk of the off-season.. especially with things in as bad a state as they are, now; can't be sure he'll have enough time and feel up to the task.

I haven't had the nicest words for Mariner, of late.. but I would hate to see him forced out of the club and MLSE milking this situation to say that he stepped down, on his own, as a result of his father's passing -- not if Mariner wouldn't have it that way, were it left to him. Who knows -- he might have long been feeling overwhelmed, beneath his hardened outer shell and this gives him an easy out (peace). If MLSE initiates this, they better not involve the news of his father -- would be classless and only further sully our reputation, being so disrespectful of Mariner's circumstance/family.

I've found myself agreeing with everything, for instance, VoodoDaddy has been saying, of late and I know he's said Mariner should be shown the door, by any means necessary.. but, I think even the likes of him and others would not like to see a situation like this exploited.

It is unfortunate when someone loses a family member. My condolences to the Mariner family.

HOWEVER, this simply does not excuse his behaviour, and his results. He should be removed from his position.

My condolences and sympathies to Paul and his family...RIP. You never want to hear news like this, no matter how much you might oppose someone. I think we all sometimes need to remember that, after all, soccer is just a game.

My condolences. I really think this thread should be left for that, and not to discuss matters related to TFC or Mariner's performance in his capacity as manager. Just my thought anyway. There are plenty of other threads to discuss Mariner.

I think that RPB as a group should send a card, or flowers...something, anyway.

We may not like his football, we may not respect his management skills, and we may disagree with his tactics, but We should take the high road.

RIP, never an easy thing to deal with. thank goodness it's near the tail end of the season, not for the sake of the club, but so he has time to himself to make arrangements and grieve without as much pressure.
