Morning, gosh what has happened with the beloved tfc.

This website has gotten so negative and argumentative it's unfortunate.

I glad O'Dea likes the city and is keen to stay...but with PM and EC at the helm my fear is we're gonna actually get worse before they are sent packing and we can actually start to rebuild...

I'd think most of one's fears should lie at the feet of O'Dea after the shocker he had on Sat. but hey why slow down the management dog-piling...

Not TFC news, but Vancouver plays Chivas tonight on Sportsnet Pacific at 10pm.

As a TFC fan I haven't had much to cheer for this season, but I do find joy in watching Vancouver's late season collapse.

I seriously doubt this team can get worse. Think about it, next season we'll get healthy bodies back, some of which may be DP level (or replaced DP's or just more expensive non-DP players) and that HAS to improve the team. Despite the hoofball approach, with a healthy Danny K this team was much better. I'm not a Mariner fan and was pissed when we abandoned Winter control ball (note the improvement in points with a healthy Danny K) but I really don't think this team can get much worse.

Sure, its pretty hard to finish lower than 19 out of 19.

Of course, we could lose the Voyageur's Cup next year and still be 19th in the league. That would be worse.

You think? You really think that's the "sparkle"? Better or worse is about HOW the team is playing going forward not winning a 3.5 team mid season tournament. (yes of course it's nice to dream we'll use a win in the V-cup to springboard our victory in the Champions League)

We're 5-22-7 at the end of this year. I don't CARE if we lose the V-cup until we start playing significantly better. Start improving the squad and start building on something. I'm a longer term visionary for this club. I don't want instant success to then shit the bed for 6 more years.

We can look at stats all we like, 4-23-8 is worse than 5-22-7 but have we worked on really turning the corner? It the long term, turning the team into something to build on and eventually become a team where players WANT to be here....then...win it all and stay one of the best teams long term.

I don't think that at all. I just think it COULD get worse.

Personally I don't think this team will turn a corner until there is a real management change.

I care about the Voyageurs cup. It's the national championship for Canada. And I enjoy beating other Canadian teams rather than playing american teams I don't overly care about week after week.

And I care about our team having proper leadership (agree with narduch about turning the corner!) and a team that is headed in the right direction and building on something that will some day be great. THAT is my focus not who our competition is.

And I didn't say anything about not having proper management. Obviously that is the most important this for Toronto. But is not a case of one or the other when it comes to the Voyageurs Cup. I don't think it's a competition that should be looked down upon.

This team can get a lot worse. Imagine Mariner hoofball, with the remaining few talented players traded away for junk. Then imagine no DPs, because ML$E will want to cut costs once season seat renewals tank. This team could get so bad it would not be competitive against FC Edmonton, and go 0-2 in Canadian Championship play, let alone climb out of last place in MLS.

I'm not saying things will get this bad... just that it certainly is possible.

It could get worse if TFC get back Hassli and Koevermans as the DP strikers. Can you imagine having "double" Mista-vision?

Most likely Gone(before the draft):

1. S.Frei
2. E.Avila
3. J.Hall
4. J.Plata

I think the academy graduates minus Henry and Morgan will be among the first wave of cuts. I'm quite sure that this was Avila's option year, so he's either entering his second option year (which TFC will decline) or he's a free agent in which case he's definitely not coming back. Your right about Plata as well, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if J. Hall came back. The fact that Mariner plays him every game despite having Eckersley means he probably likes him. Also right after Mariner took over he played Hall on the left benching Morgan. I can't see us getting rid of him unless his contract is up.

After watching the Chivas - Whitecaps game tonight I am convinced that we are actually the 2nd worst team in the league.

Yeah, Chivas seems to be even worse than us at this point, and that's saying something...
