They don't need to worry, it's easy 3 points. Mariner will probably have his usual short bench, with players like Avila that he won't use. NY will have 80% possession and get something like 5 shots on net for every one that TFC gets. If it's a kitchen sink, it will be a small one, hardly throw-worthy.

Of course, the legendary leader Dunfield might score a hat-trick, giving Thierry Henry fits. Or maybe not.

For a moment there, I thought "kitchensink" was another promising player from the academy. ;)

Good article on Goal's website from U-Sector's Rudi:

Hart: Canada will take 'a number of precautions' against potential fan disturbance in Honduras WCQ Having learned a nasty lesson on fan passion in Panama, Canada boss Stephen Hart says his team is looking at various ways to counteract any future disturbances.

You know i call bullshit on these noise disturbances, just get yourself a nice pair of ear plugs or some noise cancelling headphones and you will be fine. If its a visual problem then close all the curtains to make it nice and pitch black, i cant for the life of me understand how you cant possbibly eliminate these disturbances with simple measures as i mentioned. Seriously sometimes i think jet lag is overplayed so much and they make it sound like and airplane ride is hell(Ok maybe sometimes) but are they not flying chartered? First class? Comfy beds? Jeez if some athletes cany handle a party like atmosphere then im just mistified.

In addition if noise is really a problem why are they not booking private suits, high end hotles or resorts? To me it sounds like they pick some random place in the heart of the city.

Its completely senseless to ignore players on the roster. Regardless of whether Mariner is trying to instill a level of discipline to the squad, if Mariner excuse is that he doesnt have enough space to work with under the salary cap. He himself is creating a smaller salary cap by leaving players off the playing roster.

^And why should they have to put up with fans outside their window? Just don't tweet the location of the hotel they're staying in. International civility. Since when does the CSA have funds to spend like a top 20 nation?

I heard an interview with Hart after the game, he said that they actually had equipment like noise cancelling headphones. The hotel, however, "conveniently" put them on ground level facing the street, and apparently the fireworks set off right outside their room caused enough vibrations that they couldn't sleep.

This wasn't just a bunch of loudspeakers, they were prepared for that it was much worse.

As far as "high end resorts," this is the CSA we're talking about, not a club team. They're lucky not to stay in Motel 6.

Would it have been possible for the team to have stayed in the Canadian Embassy Compound? Either that, or they need to go to a neighbouring country that doesn't have a vested interest to disrupt the team's practice schedule and get them acclimatized to the weather, then hop into Panama on Game Day.

The club needs to stay at the "official hotel" leading up to the day before the game - let the crowd gather, and see them...

Following training for the game the day before, the team buses return to the team hotel, and the staff, coaches, physio, delegates, hell some supporters in team track suits if needed, get off the bus and head into the hotel, making it seem like the team is there...

The players, as a bunch of just "groups of guys" get cars and they stay in a high-end resort for one night, without anyone knowing which one, or where, or even who they are - so the staff doesn't even know...

Sounds like a lot, but the cost of one night isn't that bad (even for the CSA) and it should disrupt the fan noise...

That should keep the supporters screaming, fire-working, sound noising outside the official Canadian hotel, while the players and main staff (who head over later) are elsewhere getting some sleep...

Suck up the extra couple of thousand CSA, and pull this off...

Hey, can someone find out what average league attendances are and then compare those numbers to games involving TFC ?

... and then do that again for games under Winter and games under Mariner ?

Curious to know if Winter's team was a better draw than Mariner's.

It has nothing to do with 'Winter vs Mariner' but the early season crowds were much bigger...

Winter has Opening day... Hope... Early season novelty... Even after 3-4 straight losses, there was still hope...

Mariner has Summer games for better weather - but no hope and a team in last place...

Sadly, a large chunk of the crowd at BMO might not even be able to name our manager - no matter who he/she is...

In 'Field of Dreams' it was "build it and they will come" in Toronto, with our history (entire city of sports) its "win it, and they will come"...

TFC could play beautiful football and lose most games = stadium empty...
TFC could play ugly-ass football and win most games = stadium full...!!!

Although with the show Mariner puts on pacing/jumping/screaming/swearing/freaking out on the sidelines - maybe he would draw some in for the that show! g:D

Red Bull vs The Kitchensink? Down the fucking drain with them!
