Its tough to find ways to smile while supporting TFC.

Will we see a decrease in price? maybe not US per say being in the lowest cost braket, but the upper middle folks should certainly see an 8-18% benefit.

Manager Paul Mariner is a relative newcomer to this marathon episode of The Gong Show, so he’s still working through the emotional progression. He emerged post-game rattled verging on frothing, his voice hoarse from screaming.


“If that’s the lads showing what they can do, we have to have a serious think,” Mariner said ominously.


Translation: Everybody who’s painting the trim, stop what you’re doing. We’re going to have to tear this thing down — again — and start over.

You know who should be the next coach of this team? Bill Murray. He may know nothing about soccer, but he’s already survived Groundhog Day.


If that was Johnston’s problem after Year One, Mariner’s is much the same and yet far worse.




In six years, only one thing has substantively changed — fewer and fewer people care.

(After calling last night the low point of his short reign, Mariner promised, “The mentality will change. Starting tomorrow.” Don’t they ever learn?)


If Toronto FC intends to change anything this off-season, they might try this philosophic switch — do nothing.


Take the winter off. Resist the urge to tinker. Skip the self-congratulatory ‘we’ve got a new attitude now’ to start the season. Saddle up your expensively bought horses and find a way to win with what you’ve got.


It’s not a solution. But it’s no worse an idea than everything a succession of changeless faces has tried on a loop since Day 1.

I was talking to someone last night who relocated last year to the supporter section. He said he remembers it saying on the sheet of paper that he took off the seat that the 2013 price was going to be going up to $427 or something like that. I have no idea why they would have the 2013 price on there but regardless I expect since we are not sitting pretty in a playoff position like they expected and attendance/interest dwindling that number will be re-jigged to something more appropriate. I guess we will see. At least we know what they were originally planning.

Not only has TFC set the MLS record for missing the playoffs for 6 straight seasons it is also on pace to be actually worse than in its 1st season. Here are the stats. The would need 4 pts. in there next 2 games to equal the expansion season. This may just be the worst TFC has ever been...
