“I had my best season in soccer in the 4-4-2,” Koevermans told MLSsoccer.com. “I’m familiar with the system.”

He's referring to his 22-goal haul in the 2006-07 edition of the Dutch Eredivisie, during which he starred for PSV Eindhoven under Louis van Gaal, a campaign that also earned him a call-up to the Dutch national team.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::banghead:
Is it really that difficult for these MLS writers to look up what team what player played for in what year? Koevermans played for AZ from 2005-2007, not PSV. It was there that he scored 22 goals in a season under LvG. As far as I'm aware Van Gaal has never even coached PSV.

We'll see tonight if the 4-4-2 system that we play is anything like something that Koevermans has played before. I have my doubts that AZ played kick-ball that season. That's not Van Gaal's style

My favourite quote from the G&M Davidson piece...

Parents may not want to bring small children to Toronto FC practices. The language is colourful and blunt.
“It’s just the way I roll,” Mariner said of his high-energy approach. “That’s my MO (modus operandi). Either you like it or you don’t like it.”

I guess we won't see Kenny Cooper join our team anytime soon. g:D

Our new coach and KD will get along quite well I guess :)

Thats why bloggers have my respect, they atleast care about the sport they are covering and most of the time have factual information correct.

A brilliant tactician, but a horrible personnel manager.
