I'm going on a limb and will say that TFC will probably finally break it's MLS losing streak with a win against the Philadelphia Union.

Would be nice, actually, I think it's imperative to break our duck before the layoff. Going into the break being 0-10 would be terrible for the players to dwell on. Just need to get a hypnotist in there to convince them the Philly game is actually a CCL game.

I think the Cann/Henry combination will slowly come right this season if Winter keeps faith. Aside from the DC game, we've had 2 clean sheets and a game that required a wonderstrike in injury time.

Baby steps.

I know some people have lauded JDG for "sticking up for his teammates" and such, and perhaps adding some much needed fire, but what he did was just plain selfish and stupid. It perfectly exemplifies his attitude since he came here. I'd rather have him not play at all if it results in scorelines such as last night.

Hear, hear! That's not something a veteran should be doing in a cup final. I thought he was having a good game up until that point. I'd rather his type of influence be far away from our young players, especially the canadian kids.

Last 6 Games (MLS & ACC)

Goals For : 5
Goals Against : 6

Previous 7 games (MLS, no CCL)

Goals For : 6
Goals Against : 16

So it appears the defence has shored up quite a bit, perhaps due to regular playing partners. If the offence kicks into gear and pots a couple goals at home, we could be picking up our first 3 points. Although, in the three games where we've scored more than one goal, we've only won once. (MLS, ACC, no CCL)

I think those are 2 extremes. While I don't believe that all is lost if we can't win tomorrow, we're coming off a rare win high. Momentum must continue since there's quite a break after this match. If they lapse back into a negative malaise it will last weeks till they play again.

Not so sure about that. Philly's starting keeper may be out. He is pretty inexperienced as it is, so the backup must be even more so. This looks like the kind of game we should be able to really press. Koevermans will likely start, having gotten unexpected rest Wednesday. Likely Lambe and Soolsma as well. I could see Johnson going back to AM possibly. I think it'll be an offensive lineup.

The starting keeper has to start even though he has concussion symptoms lately. Their backup GK is hurt. Excerpt from the Union site:

"Goalkeeper Zac MacMath (concussion symptoms) is also questionable but Nowak said that he believes his starter will be available. Backup goalkeeper Chase Harrison is listed as out with a left ankle sprain."

Give Silva and Soolsma a start over Avila (injured) and Johnson.

Lets see if the Silva-Plata partnership re-ignites Plata scoring.

Agreed. Johnson is a Forward/Striker, not a playmaker. My only question with him is as a CF, he seems to be physical and tenacious enough to play there, in terms of scoring, but does not seem to have the insticts in terms of being that target man, and distribution.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Gives me goosebumps hearing our supporters so loud and rowdy despite the shit we have gone through this season. Well done boys on the pitch and in the stands!

Kocic - Confident and constantly grabs those high balls. Amazing Liu Kang-esque save in the second half with his toes.

Cann, Henry, Morgan - The Canadian trifecta did real well, Cann was head first to most air balls.

Soolsma - Love how he is confident on the ball and doesn't overthink it. Perfect example was his assist, realized he needed to open up his body for a better cross, does it and while all defenders chase him back goes and hits the ball at their keepers twinkletoes, making the Philly defense zigzag something crazy.

Johnson - Wing him, the finish (unless its a header) is just not there. Koev needs to start next game, no ifs or buts. 11 goals in 17 games would make even Carlos Ruiz blush.

Ecks - Couple of terrible passes, but was so full of energy that nothing was stopping him.

CONGRATS BOYS, Frings go get your nose fixed, heal up the shoulder. You were massive with the vision. Silva should be mentioned too, fantastic movement and passing, he was double-teamed a few times during the game too.

Great battle, at least looked to be from the last 20 min I saw or so. Love Cann. Seems to be on the edge of a card all the time, and gives away some bad free-kicks, but he is utterly fearless, and we've been needing that in the back for a long time. Also think he is great with Henry, the old guard of Canada tutoring the new. You can tell it matters to both of them.

Nowak was on thin ice. He may be gone by Monday.

Not gonna lie, got a little misty at the final whistle. Too bad we have 2 weeks off now right as things start to turn around. Hopefully we can use these 2 weeks to really work hard at defensive positioning and counters. I could really see us go on a tear with a little bit of luck and confidence

I think the pressure will be off a bit now so we can get back to playing some confident, relaxed soccer. Glad it was DK that scored it.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself this afternoon, regardless of our win/loss record.

It sure felt like it wasn't our day the way we missed a bunch of great chances in the first half but credit to the boys for grinding it out the whole way. We played some good football as well in spurts.

Really think we'd be best served over the long haul with Johnson as a wide forward and then having Soolsma and Lambe splitting minutes on the other side. I like li'l Jao but it's just not happening for him this season.

Dunno what happened to that Philly team though...

I thought TFC played better against Vancouver. But I'm happy the boys have that monkey off their back.

Thanks for once again qualifying the club's success. Why don't you take the weekend off?

I agree with Roogsy. I thought they played better against Vancouver. But in the immortal words of Koevermans, I don't mind playing bad and winning,.. ;). Paraphrased of course
