TFC vs DC at RFK
2011: 3-3 D
2010: 3-2 W
2009: 3-3 D
2008: 4-1 L, 3-2 L
2007: 4-1 L

Whatever happens, there will be goals in this game. Though unbeaten in last 3 trips to RFK is encouraging. And although DC beat Colorado 2-0 at RFK, they didn't look very impressive doing it.

Wow, 5 or 6 goals scored in every game at RFK.

Mo Edu scored one of the prettiest goals in TFC history at RFK. It was a sensational looping header from distance but was utterly meaningless, late in a game we were losing 4-0.

I won't be happy with anything less than a statement win. I won't be pissed if we get a draw on the road, but I won't exactly be happy either.

I don't think its even possible to predict how TFC will play in this one?! I honestly have no idea!

My heart, as always, is saying that they will carry on their cup performance and get a good result. My head is telling me that DC will wipe us out and DeRo will continue his revenge!

The ACC Final is far more important than this match given our current position in the MLS standings. I would prefer that Winter rests some of our key starters in anticipation of the second leg against Vancouver, although that is unlikely considering that his job is still on the line.

We need a win. If we do not get a win soon, realistically the season is as good as done. Yes, if we were 3-4-1 or even 2-3-3 then we could say a draw is fine, but we are 0-8, and anything other then a win puts are further back vis a vis our small playoff hopes.

We do need a win no doubt, but after last MLB season, you can't throw in the towel until the math says so. And that league has no parity like the MLS.

It sounds foolish to some, but there's no team in MLS, including Toronto, that's incapable of reeling off a string of results regardless of league opponent.

Hypothetically speaking, we win 2 games and we have 6pts at 10GP. NE has 12pts and 10GP currently. 6pts out with 24 matches left...season is far from over in that scenario. DC will be tough, but that Philly home date after is very good opportunity for 3. One step at a time.

I love your optimism, but its fairly unrealistic in so many ways! After we play 2 more games, then New England will also then have played 2 more, and who's to say they won't have at least 3 more points on the board.

For TFC to get to the playoffs at this stage, they not only have to go on an almightly good run, but they have to do it by beating some extremely difficult teams away from home. That's why its mostly unrealistic.

TFC had to get road results in difficult places throughout CCL, they did it there no? It's not impossible. Confidence and momentum can do wonders if the ball gets rolling.

Personally, I couldn't care less if Winter starts the entire reserve squad and TFC gets pounded in DC. TFC has to earn a positive result in the second leg against Vancouver or the rest of this year is a write off.

Funny...I am not on either side of thes projections. I think this game will be a draw. TFC has confidence coming out of a decent result in Vancouver and DC have been inconsistent, on fire one game and clumsy the next. Still, a win is a difficult thing to get on the road, so I am thinking 2-2. We have been getting points at RFK lately and I see no reason why it should not continue. The good? The first league points of the season. The bad? It pretty much seals the league season as being over.

The truth is that the only thing left to play for is the ACC/CCL.

No, I understand that. But games in hand are only useful if you actually win them! With TFC's current record of 0-8, what are the chances that we are actually going to win those 2 extra games and catch up with NE?!

We are kind of at the point where ANY of the next defeats seals the season! Really, its only a matter of time! If we get to mid June with no more than 6 points (which is realistic), then we are going to be VERY far behind!

The same as if we won't?

There's 3 results in football whether you're 8-0 or 0-8. SKC won 7 straight, then lost 2 to inferior teams and at home. Is that any different than TFC losing 8 straight then winning on the road?

I've grown up a Hamilton Tiger Cats fan, I know futility has deeper depths than what TFC has shown.

Nobody is doing themselves any favours being half glass empty about support, can't imagine is very fun to act it, reading threads about the dumb things people want to do and how upset they are. I mean really? I don't want us losing either, but I'm not going to add to that grief and put myself in some grumpy rut about it. At the end of the time, time and time again sports has taught us all that a turn around is not impossible until it is impossible.

For that reason you should hang on until it's over IMO. Can't imagine what a St. Louis Cardinal fan felt like last fall...

It was said we'd never win in Dallas, but they were wrong.
It was said 2-2 vs LA would end our run, but they were wrong.
It was said our 0-0 at Montreal was a bad result, but they were wrong.
It was said we would lose at Vancouver, but they were wrong.
It was said we couldn't turn this ship around.....

2+ games in hand, a return of health/fitness and some recent good form sits before 26 matches. SKC was 1-1-6 to start before winning the Eastern Conference just a year ago. The circumstance was a bit different, but we're not talking about accomplishing something as far fetched as some sound it out to be. We're asking for 5th, not 1st.

Whether a win or a draw, I'd just be happy to see the streak end. Since I've watched every game so far, and will be at a cottage for the long weekend and have no access to a TV to watch this one, I'm assuming they'll get one of those. I realized when I went to get a beer at the Chicago game and they scored their only two goals so far to that point, then when I came back down watched Chicago tie it again, that I'm not very good luck....

I saw Vancouver earlier and it set me up for disappointment for tonight. Lambe was a horrible pick up. Plata was nice last season, but I think his transfer hit on the salary cap was too much for such a limited player. Dunfield is horrid. Aceval has to be rotated in centre back and left back to give Morgan some resting time but I dont think he's a bad pick up. Like I said before Avila and Silva have to start together.

If they got hurt in the first 60? Would we get on Winter for starting these players when we have such a big game on Wednesday? What if they couldn't go 60 minutes because their fitness wasn't up to it, do we waste 2 subs early on?

I think one outcome is for certain, we won't see anymore designated players on this team for a long time....they should learn from this mistake before allowing Burke to trade all their young talent for Nash...soccer is different from hockey, you need 11 players to play as a team to win, it rarely works with one or two star players surrounded by bums....so the DP decisions have been a disaster for TFC.....the board of directors probably believed JDG would actually score a goal or two for this club, and Koevermans and Frings have turned out precisely as we predicted...good players but injury prone....they are part of a 0-9 team..........

This has got to be a jinx of some kind, how the hell can you lose 9 straight games in MLS?

not a jinx, but you're right, how the hell do you lose 9 straight games in a league that's designed for parity? - you have to actually work at losing 9 straight games in this league. if winter and amselmi have any integrity they will stop

lol. TFC is not going to fold. hell, Columbus and New England is still in the league. Same with Dallas and shitty attendance

Fair enough. But what can we do to like completely gut the team and ownership and start fresh?

Tonights douchebag(s) of the night is the Comcast announcers, I cant believe this shit. this is announcing, they are fucking garbage, i'd rather hear fart noises commentating this game than these bozos. At least then it would be entertaining to watch.

Nick Garcia was never this bad and that is a scary thought. Johnson reminds me of Mista.....very good in every area but no finish....

the offensive build up is there. just lacking finish. and falling asleep on defence. lads playing half a mind at Wed's game instead of this game

Wed game is meaningless fo.r most TFC supporters. the huge number of empty seats at BMO for these championship games is an indication that people care about it very much. I doubt the players give a shit either, if they are concerned about anything, it must be their respective soccer futures.....being part of TFC 2012 cannot be a highlight of any player resume

Lambe's played all right. Johnson's snakebit. Should be wide all the time.

I look at our lineup and all the personalities and we lack one thing, big time. A leader. We don't have a single guy who is a "take the game on his back" kind of guy. Frings has the ethic, but is not an outgoing personality and looks quite broken down this season.

@WheelerTSN (http://redpatchboys.ca/#!/WheelerTSN) Long-term, that will work. Short term, coach needs support to sign good players. No coach at #TFC (http://redpatchboys.ca/#!/search/%23TFC) has had that.

Dont even compare Mista with Johnson. Mista is 100X the player Johnson will ever be, look at his record and where he played. Of course when we got him he was over the hill and cashing a paycheque.

Thats because DC United is playing the mercy rule, they wont get anyone hurt and they wont tire out the best players. How much do you really have to beat a team to really beat them, this is a good time to play defensive and play some youngsters.

Which is exactly TFC's problem, they don't try, they don't work and they don't appear to give a shit. Collect their paycheque and go home. I'm sure they will all sleep well tonight.

If MLSE wants to save face they better start offering some refunds for SSH. At least comp them beer the rest of the season. AT LEAST.

The issue with #TFC (https://mobile.twitter.com/search/#TFC) is, they outsourced the hiring of their technical staff to an outsider. You can't artificially create an identity.

He's right.

what an embarassment....0-9 in a parity league like MLS, fuck, that is hard to do !
